Figural Antique Gilded Steel Owl Scissors German Circa 1900's.
Up for bid is a figural antique gilded steel owl scissors. Kullenberg Germany,Registered. This was originally gold plated, most of which has worn away. It measures approximately 7" long. The owl is 2 sided, the eyes that had gems in them on one side are missing. The points on the blades are intact and it cuts well. There is no rust, in useable condition.

This piece was made right around the year 1900 and is probably a little bit earlier. This piece is in great condition with no breaks or repairs but there is some minor wear to the plating and about an inch of the tape does not retract. This pretty hem gauge given to me by my great grandmother carries the hallmark of Webster Company of North Attleboro. Massachusetts. Both side of the handle say sterling, and one side has the Webster and co. logo. It is approximately c1900, but the company began in1894 and became part of Reed and Barton in 1950. Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Sewing Seam Gauge Lady's Profile Circa 1900
This is a lovely Victorian Sterling Silver Seam Gauge Sewing Tool with a profile of a beautiful lady with flowing hair and flowers. Handed down from Great-grandmother and cherished in the well-used sewing box. This seam gauge was produced prior to the Patent date of June 8, 1903. Similar sterling silver gauges by the same maker that are marked 1903 are also numbered 0657, this gauge which is older has an earlier number of 0653. This gauge is in excellent condition, the numbers and measurements are clear and well-defined, the sliding clasp which holds the measurement, works perfectly, there are no noticeable scratches on the gauge. The gauge is hallmarked on the back and says"925 Fine Sterling" and is marked with number 0653. The gauge measures 4 1/4" long and 3/8" wide.

As best I can tell from searching the history of J. Wiss& Sons shears. These appear to be an early 1900's pair of 4N 12 3/4" long"N" Pattern Tailors' Shears. They have the Wiss Simplex Shear Bolt on them and are marked: Patent Applied For. On the reverse side of the bolt they are marked: J. WISS& SONS, NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A. They are very heavy and will likely be usable for another 100 years with care. This is quoted from the company catalog about the Wiss Simplex Shear Bolt: All the objections and annoyances of the old style bolt done away with. No springs. No levers or other parts to be lost or become out of order. The shear can be easily taken apart and the lint and dirt that invairiably collects under a shear bolt removed, overcoming the annoyance of having shear blades hard to open and close. etc.

A screw on the side is to adjust the ability of the blades to come together in order to cut different size button holes. The condition is the best I've ever seen on a pair of this style of scissors. Unusual Antique Curved Steel Scissors * English * Circa 1900
Scissors12 Unusual Antique Curved Steel Scissors English* Circa 1900 These stylish steel scissors are the most unusual I've ever seen. They are smoothly curved to one side and the blades are curved up. I'm not sure what they were made for but they are marvelous for snipping threads and picking out stitches. The points are especially fine and sharp and they cut well. They were bought in England and the style of the shanks and bows is late 19th to early 20th century. The shanks and bows are are blackened steel(the original finish) and free of rust or other damage. They measure about 4 1/8" long. Antique Figural Steel Swan Scissors These little figural steel embroidery scissors have shanks in the form of a swan. The swan is part gilded with silver wings. The details are nicely engraved on both sides. They are marked"W.S.B&Co. GERMANY" inside the blades. There is also another marking on the other side but is very small and I can not make it out. The blades are tight with sharp points and they cut very well. The condition is excellent Only a very small amount of ware on inside of finger rings. With no damage and very little discoloration. This wonderful eclectic lot silver metal sewing tools. Ca.1900, is in excellent working condition and has also come from my grandmother's sewing cabinet. 1. The delicate. Collapsable, in very good working condition, round scissors and buttonhook is marked with the following: Pat. A? R. 1914" next line"TRADE HE[LGA] H MARK. This unique tool measures 2-inches in diameter fully collapsed and 5 1/4-inches in length fully opened. 2. This dainty. In excellent sharp working condition, silver metal swan embroidery scissors, measures 3-inches in length. The scissors are marked as follows: On the open tail side of the scissors: G[er]MAN[y] It looks like the"er" is completely worn off and that the"y" missed the edge of the scissor. On the open swan side, the mark reads: LLR&Co. There is clearly an"S. above ... morethe LLR&Co; however, I cannot make out the rest. 3. This beautiful. Collapsable, silver metal pocket buttonhook has no markings, except some pretty feather-like stenciling on one side. It measures 3 3/4-inches when fully open and 2-inches when collapsed. It is very solid and well made; there is some"green-like" tarnish on the inside of the sheath. This leads me to believe it may contain copper. 4. Silver metal buttonhook with handle design is in very good working condition; however. On one side, there is some rusting. Please view the photograph. 5. This riveter is a barn find and I only took off the surface dirt to see the markings. It is has REX and the number 27 embossed on one side and PAT. OCT 9.1900 and a circle on the other side. Damascene4 Antique Steel Damascene Souvenir Scissors Swedish* Circa 1900 These pretty Damascened sewing scissors have scrolling designs on the blades. A panel in the middle shows a person in traditional Swedish dress(different on each side) and below is the name Rättvik. This is a popular Swedish tourist resort town. They are steel with traces of real gold hammered into the mat background. The blades are stamped"Sweden" on one side and have the maker's mark on the other. The condition is excellent with no rust and traces of gilding. They have intact points and they cut paper well but could use sharpening. They measure 3 5/8" long. antique wood darning egg black with metal retention ring patent 1900 NR
This darner has it all. It is 4 1/2" long and 2 1/4" in diameter. And in great condition. The black paint on the piece shows the correct wear, indicating use, with the metal ring used to hold the mended piece in place having worn paint from the edges. The metal ring is stamped"pat'd dec 18 1900.

Tape10 Antique Gilded Brass Carriage Tape Measure Continental* Circa 1900 This nice little antique tape measure is made of gilded brass and modeled like a coronation style coach. The woven cloth tape(original) is marked in both inches and centimeters and is complete. The crank on the top turns to wind the tape back in and it works perfectly. Rose color celluloid is in the windows and the wheels turn. It measures 3" long and 1 1/4" wide. I think it's German or Austrian. Gay Ann Rogers shows one on p. 132 of her book The Illustrated History of Needlework Tools. One is also shown on p. 193 of The Story of Antique Needlework Tools by Bridget McConnel. Scissors13(1) Antique Figural Steel Tulip Scissors Germany* Circa 1900 These figural steel embroidery scissors have shanks in the form of a flowering tulip. The details are nicely engraved on both sides and they have the maker's mark(Joseph Feist. Solingen) stamped on the blades. I've never seen this pattern before. The points are intact but the blades need tightening. They cut very well though. The condition is excellent with no rust or damage and they measure 3 5/8" long.
