1896 Figural Pig Sewing Tape Measurer
This is a 2 inch from snout to tail tip. Brass, figural pig, sewing tape measurer. This pig is marked Pat. Aug. 25, 96. As I purchased this pig at an estate sale before 1996, I assume the date refers to 1896. It is an old tape measurer. The tail winds the tape. The tape is complete but has medical tape holding the metal pull as the tape is frayed at that end. The tape is fragile. Otherwise this item is in good working condition.

This Antique Victorian Figural Brass Pig Novelty Sewing Tape Measure is somewhere from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Very collectable. It is a wind up mechanism and the size is 2" long x 1" high& 3/4" wide. The tape measure is broken off at 24 inches so it starts at 25 inches to 40 inches. Everything else about it is in very good condition for the age of the item.

Pictured is a cute antique Measuring Tape in the shape of a Pig. This measuring tape is made of bronze and the tail winds-up to bring the tape back into the pig's belly. Where it is stored. This pig is so cute I spent a lot of extra time taking photo's of it! It measures approximately 2" long x.75" wide and 1" tall. The only issue is that the tape starts out at 2" with a safety pin holding the tape from going back inside. This appears to be a common problem ... morewith all of these and it's hardly a big issue, but mentioned for accuracy. The tape measures to a full 40" As this was in my grandparents estate and I know it was brought to America when my great grandparents immigrated here in the 1870's. I'm dating this piece to around the 1860's, which should be a very close date. Overall a wonderful antique and highly collectable!
