I am not a button collector. But have MANY antique buttons that have been kept by my ancesters and passed along to me. I plan to list them and am learning about them as I go in order to provide the best description. If you are collector I welcome any corrections or improvements to my listing! This auction is for two pairs of buttons with hook/eye closure featuring what I believe to be"The Mikado" based on other listings I've seen. The button base is metal but it looks like the front surface may be wood with the Mikato figure in metal on top of that. CIVIL WAR BULLETS, BUTTONS, HOOK & 1851 HALF DIME DUG IN PETERSBURG VA. AREA
This collection of buttons. Bullets. a knapsack hook and a half dime were all dug on the same farm in Prince George Co. just out side of Petersburg, Va. There are at five different styles of bullets in this lot including an Enfield, a Custer machine and a northern manufacture with a star in the base. The buttons are. 1 flat button and 1 solid brass button with a crest on it. The brass button has the eye broken off. The half dime is very worn and I am dot sure of the date. I think it is 1851. Photos 5.6& 7 are the Enfield. There is no letter in the base.

This is a complete German hate belt with WWI buckle and all hooks. There is another center of a German buckle wired on the belt. Lots of French, a few German, two WWI US collar discs, a WWI Marine button, some rare French buttons a Knight with crossed cannon, French artillery and French Star buttons,and others I do not know how to Identify. There is a green patina between most of the buttons and the leather, and white leather lacing on both sides(may be boot laces) The leather and all decorations are in very good condition. I collect buttons so if this doesn't sell I am taking all of the brass off and keeping it in my collection. I will set up an auction and buy it now price that will be close to each other. Vintage Notions Early plastic or Bakelite buttons and a belt piece. The red item is for making a belt or sash. It measures 1.75" high and 1.5" The or would attach to one side and then you would put the other end of the belt through to tighten. The color is a deep red. It has minor wear scratches. The larger button is made from 2 colors the underside is red with some black and it peeks through the top carmel colored side which has a swirl pattern. It measures 1.5" in diameter. A very unusual one. Has some very minor wear. The last button measures 1.25" and has a tan carmel color with swirl pattern. The edge is raised with 4 holes. Made of a cotton linen fabric with printed diamonds. The off to the side front closure consists of Faux knotted buttons. Very old style hook& eye clasps and snaps. I am guessing the early 20's? or 30's? The 3/4 length sleeves have pointed fold up cuffs. Two large pleats in the back. This item does have some issues. in the back at the bottom is a brown mark. probably stepped on as this is LONG gown. There are a few spots that are torn. in the armpit and by one of the front closure hooks. please see ALL photos. I have shown every little issue I can find. This came from an antique dealer so I know its very old.
