The buttons measure 7/8" diameter and have two holes to sew them on with. Since they were used on a garment. Do to some bad experiences on Ebay I dont accept returns All the buttons I got in this collection came out of the old matchbox The last 2 pics are of most of the collection. Pics 4 and 5 are of the Gettysburg Guide. That this man bought when he was a young boy first getting interested in looking for artifacts from the Battlefield that he raised on a farm in the area I was set up as a Dealer at the Nashville Tenn. Civil War Show back in 2000. A young man come to my table and asked If I bought Civil War Items. I asked what he had. He told me that he had a box load of things out in his car. He said the box was ... moregiven to him by his Uncle, I asked where his Uncle had lived, he told me that his Uncle had been born and lived near Gettysburg Pa. And hunted all over the private property, very little was park land at the time. He told me that his uncle found a lot of the items on top of the ground, and walked the plowed fields and just picked it up. It is a shame he did not keep any records, but back in those days the stuff was everywhere. So we worked out a deal for the whole box of relics. As soon as I returned home I laid it all out on a table and took 2 pics of most of it could not fit all on table and that was still in the days of the 35mm film camera, so some of the pics did not turn out and I was not able to do very good close ups. 2 canteens loads of bullets of many different cal. Buttons both Union and Confederate, 2 pieces of wood with a bullet stuck in it, cannon ball fragments, and many more items that I will be listing over the next couple of weeks. Most can be seen in the last 2 photos of the listing, along with the date the photos were taken. Due to medical bills I am forced to sell off some of the collection. Seventeen wooden buttons from an estate. The woman who was managing the sale told me that they were handmade by the lady's husband but to be completely honest there are one or two that don't look handmade to me. The smallest is 1/4" and there are several just barely 1" The others are various sizes in between. They are all in excellent condition but some show slight patina from age. They would be great for all types of craft or art projects. They are estate buttons being sold as is. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking.
