The detachable wood handle design was patented in 1870 in the U.S. and they were meant to give you something cold to hang onto while ironing, yet be able to simultaneously heat another iron on the stove top. The iron measures 6 1/2" long by 3 3/8" wide by 5 1/2" tall to the top of the handle. This iron is in great condition for its age, and it shows some slight usage wear. The Asbestos iron lever detachable handle is still in great working condition, and the wooden parts are in great condition ... morewith little usage wear. ANTIQUE CAST IRON SEWING CLAMP IN THE FORM OF A DOLPHIN. ca. 1840
Continental ca. 1840. This sewing necessity was used to hold fabric when hemming. It is very elaborately decorated right down to the thumb screw used to attach the clamp to the work table. The two sided thumb screw is in the form of an angel with wings and the head of the dolphin supports a pin cushion. The condition is excellent with no cracks. Chips or breaks and the steel spring which opens the mouth of the dolphin is strong and very functional.

One side of handle is missing a circular disk that fits in center of handle piece. One blade is engraved in script with a name: Emma" and I can't read the last name. The blades are also marked Germany(I think although it is hard to tell due to rust and darkened patina. Scissors are 7" in length. See pics for details. Which is rare. Not sure if the bottle is original. All mechanisms seem to be in working order. Although I HAVE NOT tested it with the wet tape. The plastic measuring piece on the side is brittle and has some cracks, and a corner piece is missing. Brush looks newer. This was taken very good care of. Again, there could be pieces missing. This riveter is a barn find and I only took off the surface dirt to see the markings. It is has REX and the number 27 embossed on one side and PAT. OCT 9.1900 and a circle on the other side. It is in very good working contition. It is all cast iron and black with it's natural rust as seen in the pictures.

Antique/vintage pinking machine with the RARE and sought after scalloped cutter. This machine produces the intricate scalloped pinking that is highly prized by historical costumers. Seamstresses, and preservationists. I have been told that taxidermists also use these machines(for what purpose I have no idea) The original label on the machine is somewhat worn but reads"Durbrow and Hearne Wooster St" I learned from Google that the company was located at the address 12 Wooster St. in New York City from 1884 until 1981. The following numbers are embossed into the metal; 13416" Presumably a patent# model# or serial# The machine appears intact, complete, and in working condition. The wooden handle is in good condition and the handle turns smoothly. There is a tension adjustment and an adjustable clamp for mounting onto a bench or ... moretable; both appear to work as they should. This is a vintage/antique machine and has obviously been used; I have not attempted to clean it. Description: Cast iron sewing clamp known as"birds" because they were usually decorated with a bird figure 1860's Civil war era This was used to hold the fabric in place while sewing The Turn screw attaches piece to a table It has a Scroll design made by the blacksmith Decorative scroll filigree piece swings on a hinge which comes down to hold the fabric in place Still has most of it's original black paint This is a real piece of History that you can hold in your hand! A device that clamps on to the table and holds the piece of fabric you are working on. This functions the same as a sewing bird. The screw attaches it to the table as shown in the photos. The pivoting clamp swings down to hold the fabric. There are notches in the clamp to hold the fabric taut. The Height is 4 1/4" Width is 1 1/4" This is about the same size as a sewing bird. There is Black enamel paint on cast iron. With decorative design on the shaft, and on the clamp. In good working condition. Some wear on the black paint from light usage. If you collect antique sewing tools. This is a great example of the ingenuity of that era! You are buying ONE(1) rare. Unusual, hand tool made of cast iron. I have never seen another in 25 years. I think it is a tool for repairing buttons. you pass the button through the center hole and then hold it in the slot as you use your needle and thread to make a repair and strengthen the existing threads attaching the button to the shirt. You are buying ONE(1) 12 inch cast iron and steel edge tailor's scissors marked R. Heinisch. Newark N.J. U.S.A. in very good condition. No rust or damage. I don't think the tip is damage but rather a casting defect where the steel edge is attached to the cast iron handle.it is too difficult to cast a very sharp tip in the 1860s or before. Rochus Heinisch. Is the American story of an immigrant who, in 1825, left his home in Leutmeritz. Bohemia(Austria) and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York. There he started a business of making surgical instruments. Soon after he moved to Elizabeth. New Jersey and in 1835 to Newark. He enlarged his cutlery business making scissors and even knives. He had three sons who worked with him in the business. A fourth son joined them after serving in the New Jersey volunteer regiment during the Civil War. Antique GEM Cast Iron Fabric Cutting Pinking Machine Old Sewing Tool c1880s Description: This is an antique cast iron clamp-on Gem pinking machine dating. I would guess, to the late 1800s. It was used in the home and in general stores to cut a sawtooth edge on fabrics. Cloth edges that are unfinished will easily fray, the weave becoming undone and threads pulling out easily. The sawtooth pattern does not prevent the fraying but limits the length of the frayed thread and thus minimizes damage. The machine is roughly 5 inches wide and 6 inches long to the bottom of the clamp screw. It weighs 2 pounds 8 ounces. It will be double boxed and have a shipping weight of 3 pounds 8 ounces.
