This is an interesting& unique antique Shaker soft brown leather. Fabric trimmed, graduated spool case with corner thimble case, embroidered pin cushion& six graduated thread spools held in place with a cord drawn through metal edged holes at the box sides& tied with a bow. A scissor case is found on top of the box with the original decorative scissors, marked"Clauss, USA" This box is irregularly constructed to accomodate various sizes of spools& measures 6 1/2" long, 1" high& 1 3/4" on one end& 1 1/4" on the other. Each wooden spool is embossed, marked J P Coates& are various thread strengths. The snap clasp is complete but its ribbon attachment has worn off. C. K. KIRKPATRICK SPEC. CO. Which is now SUEDE PRODUCTS. LLC. I googled the CKK name and came up with the Suede Products website that gives a brief but quite interesting history of their company. Clifford Kirkpatrick started his company in the early 1930's. He had briefly worked at a dry cleaners and caught on really fast about the procedures. He refined the process and started a door to door business to the cleaning companies to sell his equipment. Specialty chemicals and procedures. One of his companies was in Los Angeles, but he was even known for his cleaning products and equipment internationally. At one time, he changed the name to Kirk's Suede-Life. He sold the business to Suede Products. LLC in 1960. After trying to do a little more research. I am beginning to think that this was an actual tool that was used in the dry cleaning/ ... morewetcleaning process in the cleaners industry. I am really not sure. Whatever it is, it is really cool looking. It measures 28 3/4" long. The handles are wood and the blades are wood. There are 2 small holes in the blades but I am not sure why. The end of the blades are worn and broken off maybe an inch. This piece came from an estate where there were many cool primitive items. As with all of my auctions. It has a gold stamped fountain motif on the front& back with birds drinking from it. It is embossed. Scrolled and gold-stamped on all sides and is hand painted red, green, blue and white. The spine is stamped'LADY'S COMPANION' in gold letters and is enhanced with birds above and below the lettering. The top lifts off& fits nicely on the bottom hal f. Inside lid is lined in a pink paper with gold stamped stars design. The bottom section is a burgundy leather with fitted burgundy velvet lined compartments for the various tools. Antique LEATHER tape measure Pat. Sept 15 1914 reel wind up 50'? OLD STEEL tool
In this listing I am offering a great garage find. Its an old antique reel tape measure that has a side wind up lever. It appears to be cased in leather and stitched at the sides. But is a hard circle disc. It is 3 3/8" in diameter and 3/4" thick. The tape itself is steel and has areas of rust and wear. The tape comes out great although I only dared pull out 6' of it.plus knowing I'd have to hand wind what I pulled out: Which did wind up smoothly as well. The numbers are not written as they are on todays tape measures. At the foot measure it has a small number on top and then it starts from 1 again ex. 5' small 6 on top) and the next inch is labeled 1"rather than the newer ones which say 61" This is hard to explain without seeing a photo so there are photos of the numerics included. This auction is for an old industrial looking pinking machine in as found uncleaned condition. On the machine it states"DURBROW& HEARNE MFG CO NY" and on the cloth plate there is some patent information-see photos. The machine suffers from some paint loss and it looks like the wooden hand crank was replaced at some point in its existence. Machine rotates and appears to work as it should- I tried it on a sheet of paper and it worked well- see photo. I do not see any cracks or breaks.

this is lovely and in wonderful condition i think maybe its a necessare' box. I have womans gloves in it.the inside is clean, the leather outside does show wear, but only adds to its charm, it closes nice and sharp the handle is tight; the accordion is in great condition and extends to give the box additional height room,the stretcher works and is in wonderful condition, truly a great item. picture 2 shows a division in the back hinge, this in no way effects the opening and closing of the box.

Antique Tailor Scissors by R(Rochus) Heinisch. Circa 1900. Blades measure 6.5" and they have a"7" stamped on the base of one blade. The scissors measure 13.5" from tip of blades to tip of handle. No knick/ chips in blades but they could use sharpening. Please take a close look at the photos as they are part of the description. The pair weighs about 2 lbs. They cut thru paper to the tip. But. Sciscase3 Antique Scissors in Leather Case English* Circa 1780 This scissors shaped leather case is gold embossed and holds a nice old pair of cut steel scissors. It is lined with the original woven silk. The case dates to the late 18th century and the scissors are later. Probably c. 1850. The hinge is strong and original and it closes with a flip down brass clasp. The condition is excellent with no serious scuffing or scratches and no loss of leather. The scissors have lovely details and are in good condition. The blades have sharp points and they cut pretty well. The case measures 4 1/4" long x 2 1/4" wide at the top. The scissors are 3 1/2" long. A scissors case of similar style and age is shown on p. 26 of Bridget McConnel's book The Story of Antique Needlework Tools. Another is shown on p. 38 of Chatelaines. Antique Sewing Leather Awl Internal Bobbin Tool Bits
This antique sewing leather awl has been gently restored. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with a good balance of lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. The first step is to dismantle the tool down to individual parts. Metal is typically initially cleaned using mineral oil. Or a weak solution of washing soda and water and if necessary brief burst of electrolysis to remove and or convert rust to black oxide. Whichever method is best, a scotch brite plastic cleaning pad is used with water so the underlying metal is not damaged. A heat gun is immediately used to blow dry and eliminate moisture which is followed by a hand rubbed coat of mineral oil. It is often necessary to repeat this step one or more times. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so, ... morethe item is wiped cleaned then hand rub in bees wax to seal it. For wood a weak solution of oil soap and water is used to remove grime, old oils and dirt which is air or blowed dry with a heat gun. This is followed by a hand rub of“feed and wax" Normally all other materials are simply wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth as appropriate. If the situation requires it, a soft brass bristle brush or“0000” steel wool is used occasionally. A couple of items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt, etc, as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgement of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual oil left in the cleaning process. This can be wiped off but the item may benefit from an additional application of clear oil to further enhance and stabilize the item for extended life. This riveter is a barn find and I only took off the surface dirt to see the markings. It is has REX and the number 27 embossed on one side and PAT. OCT 9.1900 and a circle on the other side. The scissors has beautiful silver work handles, but the old steel blades have badly corroded in this set, making this one more to be seen than used, and impacting the value too. Good condition. 3 3/4" by 1 3/4" The second item is a pair of rooster scissors. 5 1/4" by 2" Good condition. Although I think something is missing from the round area. Vintage Antique Sailors Palm Primitive Sail Tool Brass? Leather Mariner Maritime
Very old sailmaker or repair tool. It is made of leather but not sure if the top part is leather. It's a lighter color and harder to the touch. This tool protected the sail maker's hand from being pierced by the large needle used in sail making. The insert piece was usually brass but I can't tell what this one is made of. antique/victorian item from'United States Fastener Co. tool is very nice. The box is rough but has all info that you can read mfg around 1900 Snap Fasteners- For jeans Gloves. Shoes, Pocketbooks, Umbrellas, This set comes with the two cast pieces(base and hand tool) and the original box The base plate logo says'United States Fastener Co. The fastener has a nice heft to it and weighs in at over 1/2 pound. The base measures about 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" and the handle measures about 3 1/4" long. includes some metal fittings it fastens every thin you get is shown in pictures so take a good look and make sure it's what you want. shipping 5.75
