This auction is for a gorgeous and very old Lemaire FI Paris Opera Glasses. They come from an Estate but still are in excellent condition. The mother of pearl is perfect without any chips or cracks. The lenses are free of scratches. The brass/metail is in good condition but could probably use some polishing. I see some small dark dots on it. Not too much, I guess it is from age. There are no scratches on the brass. The piece is marked on the lenses Lemaire FI Paris, and it is marked on the brass with Made in France and also a bee mark. The handles is 4 1/2" long, the piece is about 4" wide without the handles and just short of 3" long not counting the handle. Mother of pearl handled fruit/dessert/tea knives(6) Boxed Set Offered are six mother pearl knives with silver plated blades and ferrules. The silver manufacturer was Christopher Johnson& Co. Sheffield. The blades do show wear which is to be expected, although the mother of pearl is in good condition. 5 of the knives are of a simple design and 1 is more elaborate with etching on the blade(and the Maker's Mark on the reverse) and the handled has a carved design as well. Each knife measures approximately 6" long and comes as a boxed set. The box has some minor damage but is in otherwise good condition. Box measures 7 1/2" by 6" by 3/4"

Up for auction is a Victorian Sterling Silver Handled Curling Iron w/Mother-of-Pearl Button Opener. Approx. Length 6 1/2" overall. Handle length 2 7/8" Total weight: 28.8 grams. The curling iron is in very good condition with normal wear and is guaranteed old& authentic. I would guess the age to be in the early 1900s. I bought this piece at an estate sale about 25 years ago. This is a steel curling iron with sterling handle and mother-of-pearl button opener. The curling iron opens and closes with no problems. The handle is decorated with flowers and vines on both sides. The 4 Aetnaworks knives have lovely floral ferules(which may be sterling. We have not tested them) carved mother of pearl handles with a rope or swirl design, and silverplated carbon steel blades. The Sheffield knives are very similar, but smaller and the handles swirl to a point at the ends. The larger knives are marked. Landers, Frary and Clark, Aetnaworks, and the smaller knives are marked, Harrison Bros& Howson, Sheffield, England. The knives are in good. Useable condition. All 3 of the Sheffield have no issues to the handles(though one has a scooped out section from the natural shape of the shell) One has one very minor spot of plate loss. Lovely old cutlery set On offer is this truly delightful four piece cutlery set consisting of a pickle fork. A bread knife, a fish serving fork and a sugar sifter spoon. All items are in really good condition overall. The silver plating shines up beautifully still with no signs of wear or damage over the pieces. The bread knife has one serrated edge and has a lovely engraved floral pattern on one side of the blade. The pickle fork has a textured effect on the front which gives the impression of reptile skin- certainly adds a decorative look. The fish fork on the front has an engraving of a fish and foliage and the sugar spoon is plain in design. They each share the same silver plated collar design which has rope like rims adding to the quality look. Antique Mother of Pearl Handled Knives Marked Universal Set of 6
Before describing this set of knives. I want to note flaws that I see. All of the knives need some TLC. I haven't tried to clean them or do anything to them because I do not know how to care for the mother of pearl handles. So the metal parts are tarnished, have some nicks and dings, show signs of wear. Although now that I look at all of them together, they all have a notch in the metal at the same exact location, so perhaps this is a maker's mark of some kind. I don't know. The mother of pearl is scuffed in places. It still has a beautiful glow about it, though. So that's it for disclaimers. This is a really beautiful set of six mother of pearl handled knives. The pattern on the metal portion between handle and blade is a baroque scrollwork. The mother of pearl is white and very luminous. Then that is attached to the baroque ... morescrollwork portion which leads into the blade. The mark on the blade is a stylized box with"UNIVERSAL" printed in it. Below that is what I believe reads"L.F. C. It's either an"F" or an"E" The blades are quite tarnished, and I haven't attempted to clean them(see above) due to the mother of pearl. Each knife has a notch along the top of the blade that is at a slant. At first I thought it was a flaw, but they all have it in the exact same spot and they look just alike. As you can tell, this is not my area of expertise. These knives definitely need some TLC and attention, but they are definitely beautiful enough to be worth the effort. It measures 7 1/4" long and has a very ornate repousse sterling handle and a mother of pearl button on the spring loaded curler. The handle features four clear areas surrounded by scrolling leaves. The piece has never been monogrammed. The metal curler is silver plated. The piece is marked"Sterling" but has no company name or marks. It is in very nice condition with no dents or cracks in the silver. The handle is securely attached to the curler and the curler end has minor discolored spots and the spring is fine. The closed length is 2 1/4" Blade length is 1 5/8" There is some typical vintage, mild and scattered corrosion on the blades and what looks like a handle repair that should be visible in the#7 photo(barely) I assume the long slender blade is some sort of cuticle tool? I am not a knife expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I would imagine that this was a ladies knife.
