RARE ANTIQUE Brass Etched pins BEFORE SAFETY PINS Primitive Sewing
You are bidding on something I've NEVER seen before. In all my years of selling-antique pre-safety pin Brass pins with exquisite etching on each end. Note that there is no circle on the end; these are simply formed, but still work the way a safety pin would. I'm guessing these may have been for vintage sewing or? In the photos. If you use a magnifier you should be able to see the etching. There was a pin that had some white stuff on it, so I removed it from the lot. You are bidding on 11 pins total. The first(top photos) belonged to my great grandmother on my father's side of the family. It came with an old desk that I inherited from my grandmother over forty years ago. It measures about 6" long overall with 3-1/4" of that being the gloss black painted handle. I think the egg portion is painted wood but it sort of feels and looks like it may have been dipped in a hard. Plaster-like material. The egg also has some staining as if it ... morewas hung upside down and the handle paint ran onto it. It could also have been accidentally stained by some kind of dye(possibly laundry bluing etc. However the stain got there it looks quite attractive and unique. There is a small amount of wear on the handle as one would expect. The second egg I found in an old truck. About 20 years ago, which contained items once owned by a great aunt and uncle from my mother's side of the family and is comparatively quite primitive in appearance! It measures about 6-3/8" long overall with 3-1/2" of that being the handle. It appears to have been originally painted a light brown color. Most of which was worn away long ago! It's interesting in that it has been repaired. It's impossible to know whether it was patched by the original maker or by a subsequent owner. The paint extends partially over the repair which makes me think the maker painted over it thinking nobody would ever know! Vintage Antique Sailors Palm Primitive Sail Tool Brass? Leather Mariner Maritime
Very old sailmaker or repair tool. It is made of leather but not sure if the top part is leather. It's a lighter color and harder to the touch. This tool protected the sail maker's hand from being pierced by the large needle used in sail making. The insert piece was usually brass but I can't tell what this one is made of. Antique Ribbon DOUBLE Crimper Primitive. Wood Handles This wonderful old tool was used to crimp ribbons. The handles are wood(looks like maple) on the other end is a metal piece with two long grooves that is attached to one handle; the other handle is attached to a long metal section with two tines. The tines rest in the grooves when it is“closed. I am guessing that you would heat the metal section before laying a section of ribbon on top of the grooves. I can hardly imagine how time consuming this was for a strip of ribbon longer than 2 inches! It appears that the metal was once painted black. There is now a thin film of rust in places—see photos. ANTIQUE North Bros MFG Co. Hand Fluter Great Country Primitive Look!
Here we have an antique"North Brothers Mfg Co" hand fluter. The fluter is in great shape with no rust and the paint on the base is just cool as can be; Black w/Gold feet and a green stripe! It still has the warming plate inside. The bottom of the base marked on the base; NORTH BROS MFG CO. PHILADA. PA. U.S.A. A great 1800's piece of history. Just think of how they would put the warming plate on the old wood fired cookstove to heat up and then they'd place the warming plate in the base to warm the fluter! The piece measures apprx. 5 1/2" x 3" and is very heavy. This is an antique and does show it's age very well. Please view pictures carefully while deciding. Thanks and God Bless.
