This is an Antique Run Mender for silk stockings. It has the orginial instructions with it. The mender is in picture#2. The paper has yellowed and has rough edges and one tear. It has been rolled for years. The tear is approx 1" The mender itself is approx 3 1/2" long. It is metal on a wooden handle. It is very delicate. There is some rust on the end of the mender. Condition is good for age. It's flip part still moves. But is stiff.

My moth er is clearing out a few of her treasures that she has collected over the years. This is a set of 3 beauti ful bodkins that have a gorgeous floral p atter n. They are stam ped ster ling. The largest one measures approx. 2 3/4 inch l ong. And has a slit that is 3/4 inches wide. The medium one is approx. 2 5/8 inch long. And the slit is approx, 3/8 inch wide. The smallest is approx. 2 1/2 inches lon g. And the slit is approx. 3/1 6 inch wide. I do not know the age or history. And am only listing these as Victorian as that is what I am seeing other s that are similar in design listed as. There are some wear spots and discoloration. Can' t tell if they are coated w ith something. But they are just gorgeous! I am not an expert on old bodkins by any stre tch of the imagination. All the scissors are in great used condition.The first pair(pics 2-4) shows a crane or stork form and measures 4 inches tall by 1.5" long from side to side at their handles. This pair shows some fairly light surface discolorations from use and from age.I also see surface discoloration on the inside of the scissors. When the pair is opened.The next pair in the collection(pics 5-9) measures 3.5" tall by almost 1.5" long from side to side. Antique 3" scissors with serpents B (or S) Hecht & Son Germany
These tiny little scissors are very very sharp. I found them in a drawer of an old Singer treadle machine at an antique auction about 25 years ago and have kept them in my sewing kit since then. My hands are too arthritic to sew any more. So I am selling them. On one side is written either B. Hecht or S. Hecht& Son Germany, and on the other side is something written in script that I cannot make out. There are 2 serpents that come to face one another at the base of the finger holes. The serpents have a raised dot design on their bodies. There is slight discoloration on a couple of small spots, but overal the scissors are in very nice condition. The photos did not turn out well, and I apologize for that. My camera is limited. SHIPPING is $6 Priority insured.

As best I can tell from searching the history of J. Wiss& Sons shears. These appear to be an early 1900's pair of 4N 12 3/4" long"N" Pattern Tailors' Shears. They have the Wiss Simplex Shear Bolt on them and are marked: Patent Applied For. On the reverse side of the bolt they are marked: J. WISS& SONS, NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A. They are very heavy and will likely be usable for another 100 years with care. This is quoted from the company catalog about the Wiss Simplex Shear Bolt: All the objections and annoyances of the old style bolt done away with. No springs. No levers or other parts to be lost or become out of order. Scarce Antique Brass 1 3/4" Miniature Beer Stein Tape Measure W/ Thimble Holder
Description Offered at auction is a scarce antique figural beer stein tape measure/thimble holder which stands 1 3/4" tall and is just under 1" in diameter across the base. It is made from brass which has a pressed patten of cavaliers and peasants. There are four people-a woman with a basket. A man who is walking or leaping, a cavalier on a horse and a man with his foot on a stump. The tape draws out from the side and retracts by turning the base-it is not spring loaded. The lid of the stein opens to reveal a place for the thimble. The piece probably dates to the early 1900's may have been made in Germany for export, but it is not marked. It does have"Pat" for"patented" on the bottom. It is in very nice condition with no damage to the stein and the cloth tape which measures in inches. 3 sets Antique Sewing Pruning Scears~Scissors Early Hand Forged pair!
I probably should have listed the 1800's hand forged scissors in a seperate listing however you get all 3 sets of these early pruning scissor shears. The hand forged scissors measures 3 1/2" width x 8" length and is you check out my closeup pics you will see that they are stamped with a feather like scroll on the inside of one of the blades. you can also see how the iron has been hand gouge to create the arch of the blades. The second shears are the same size but they are slight thicker and a little more"heavy duty" The third set measure 3 1/2" x 7" length and are stamped on the blades with the makerslogo which looks like a Machine Cog Wheel with an arrow running through it. Antique tailor's shears / scissors 12 3/4" long w/ lg brass bolt - unbranded
Up for your consideration is an antique tailor's( or dressmaker's) shears. These heavy shears measure 12 3/4" long and neither the shears nor the large brass pivot bolt have any mark that I can find to indicate their maker. They were well used and this use gives them the"patina" you see in the photos. dings and scratches in the brass. chipped paint on the handles. green paint smeared on the blades(and a bit on the brass) some sort of putty(would chip off with a bit of picking at it) splotched near the pivot. as well as a light coating of allover rust with some pitting. The blades have a slight amount of"play" and would benefit from a tightening or adjustment(I don't know how) they still cut paper fine. and heavy cloth OK if it is near the pivot point. but they would need sharpening and adjusting(and cleaning) ... moreif an attempt were made to use them to cut through fine cloth.
