Antique 1800s Vintage Large Scissors Tailor Shears Big Old Sewing Tool Different
Here we have a great pair(1) of large iron scissors or shears of the type often used by tailors but also other trades as well. I actually found these in with some very old boat building and sail making tools right here on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake bay. Measures about 11 1/2 inches from tip to tip. Is made out of forged iron. No name or markings that I could see. I would say condition is Good- Very Good. No damage such as cracks, breaks, pitting or repairs. The pivot rivet is a bit beat but doesn't affect anything. Antique Equity Shear Co Large 13" Tailor Seamstress Scissors Shears
Up for auction is a pair of antique vintage Equity Shear Co large sheers or scissors recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. They are found in good used condition and feature a screw and nut fastener. It is signed. But difficult to make out. One side more pointed than the other, they come together properly and cut easily. Overall size is approximately 13" The blade is 6 5/8" There are losses to the black paint, scratches, rusting and tarnishing to the metal surface. It is made of metal and does attract a magnet. These heavy shears are made for tailors, to cut through cloth or leather. They measure 14-1/2 inches long with 6-1/2 inch cut. They weigh about 2-1/2 lbs and the overall length is 14-1/2" There is no rust. Nicks on the cutting edges, or pitting. The tips come to a nice sharp point. Rochus Heinisch and Jacob Weiss were contemporaries and Weiss worked for Heinisch at first. Then branched out on his own. Please view all the photos as they are an important part of the description. This was obtained from the Cass County historical society. Was part of a fundraising auction and has the painted inventory number and tag. The tag says this was used at Julius Heger's Tailor Shop in Casselton, North Dakota. Overall just G- condition, it has been repaired at one of the handles, there is a brass solder, it appears one handle was broken off at the neck. Scissors remain sharp and cut pretty well! VERY SHARP vintage engraved Art Nouveau tailor scissors shears antique
I didn't find any information on these. The maker's mark is a male dog standing on its hind legs with a cane in its mouth. My guess is that they are German and were made between 1910 and 1930. Their Art Nouveau style is quite particular and includes patterns that look like petals. Leaves and grapes. I cleaned them, gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. They cut so well they can be used to cut hair, fabric, paper and even food! P.S. I'll always do my best to allow you to save on shipping. SHARP Rare collectible engraved tailor scissors shears antique brass
These very nice Townshend& Thompson scissors were made in Birmingham around the 1900s. They feature triangular blades and beautiful Art Nouveau brass handles that represent two Celtic warriors looking at each other. I cleaned them. Tightened the brass around the steel tangs(there is only a tiny amount of play left) gave the blades a good sharpening and polished everything. Antique 15" Tailor's Shears Scissors Made in NY by Alex Rowland
Acquired at the estate sale of a seamstress. These are very large shears- 15 inches from tip of blade to end of handle. They would be good for carpet but they may need to be sharpened for that purpose. They cut fabric just fine but they're quite large so they're not something I like to use. According to my research they were made around the 1920s by Alex Rowland of NY. Ask about my other scissors and sewing antiques if you're looking for something specific. You are buying ONE(1) 12 inch cast iron and steel edge tailor's scissors marked R. Heinisch. Newark N.J. U.S.A. in very good condition. No rust or damage. I don't think the tip is damage but rather a casting defect where the steel edge is attached to the cast iron handle.it is too difficult to cast a very sharp tip in the 1860s or before. Rochus Heinisch. Is the American story of an immigrant who, in 1825, left his home in Leutmeritz. Bohemia(Austria) and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York. There he started a business of making surgical instruments. Soon after he moved to Elizabeth. New Jersey and in 1835 to Newark. He enlarged his cutlery business making scissors and even knives. He had three sons who worked with him in the business. A fourth son joined them after serving in the New Jersey volunteer regiment during the Civil War. After ... morethat the company was known as Heinisch’s Sons Company. For a short time Jacop Wiss. Of later Wiss scissors, worked for the Heinisch Company. In 1892. Prof. O. H. De Lamorton published his Self-Teaching Instruction Book for the Parisian Champion Scientific Tailor System, which was hugely popular. This very nice wooden tool was made to accompany Prof. De Lamorton's book. This piece is the Tailor Curve Stick and includes Curve 5 and Sleeve Curve. It states"French Perfection and Parisian Champion Scientific Tailor System combined in one, with the use of this, Prof. O.H. de Lamorton's Tailor's Curve Stick which is for the use of those not wishing to swing for the curves. It contains one 64 and one 32 inch curve. Well, not being tailors, we're guessing that is supposed to explain it! Consisting of an original antique wooden box, slide rule with two levels, measuring tape and 2 metal rods that screw into the measuring tape, the company that manufactured this tool, also continues to manufacture the tool measuring show size. Box measures 15" long. Clasp is original. But does not close. Hinges and interior are original and in good condition considering it's age.
