You are bidding on/ buying an ANTIQUE 1920s GENUINE COWHIDE LEATHER STEAMER TRUNK. I come across quite a few suitcases. I have yet to see one in as good a shape. And as unique a design as this one. It is the size of a small suitcase. But shaped like a trunk. It measures 24 inches across the front 13 1/2 inches deep, and 10 inches tall. It has steamer style straps. Silver accent hardware, all original. It almost has a walrus or elephant texture to the hide of the material. You can see the patterning up close in photo 12. The top part of this piece expands up about 3 inches if you fill it to do so. If not it sits flat. Photos 8& 11. There are 2 straps around the case. In great condition. On the front of the case there is a lock latch, and 2 securing latches. All 3 in good order. Inside looks good. All the straps there are in great shape ... moretoo. Up for bid is an interesting vintage estate trunk. Is wood with black fiber exterior. Decorative brass corner hardware, double latch opening, black Bakelite handle, four hard plastic feet on bottom in closed horizontal position and four metal feet on bottom in closed vertical position. Exterior has some parting at the seams and shows signs of wear equal to use and age. The interior is open with exposed wood bottom and the number 7 in black(perhaps original cloth is missing) and black plastic covering opposite with elastic band for securing something in place. A religious man Shwayder named one of his initial cases as Samson(which is the one I have here} after the Biblical strongman. The metal latch that closes the trunk says Shwayder trunk manufacturing Denver colorado. The 2 metal pieces on the sides that hold the handle says Shwayder Samson Denver. Vintage 1920's or 30's Shwayder Trunk Co. steamer trunk/ foot locker. Measures 30" x 16" x 12" and is quite large. Shows signs of wear and use. Light rust, plenty of dings and dents, and the main locking latch appears to be bent. The side latches work fine and do a great job of closing. Vintage Suitcase w/ Cunard White Star Line Athenia Stickers This trunk is well worn but has a neat history of being taken on the Cunard White Star Athenia ship two yeas before it was sunk. The ship was in service from 1922 to 1939 until Sept. 3. When it was torpedoed and sunk by German sub. U-30 off Inishtrahull. The stickers on this particular case are from May 28th 1937 from Montreal to Liverpool, another from August 6th, likely when the person returned. It also has a mostly-torn-off Cunard Baggage sticker, one for Anchor-Donaldson and one for Hotel Excelsior. I don't see any brand identification to the case. It's made of wood. Though I'm unsure what kind. The interior shows some signs of wear as pictured, but to be expected from something almost 80 years old and used to travel with. A cool piece of travel history!

Vintage MADLER KOFFER Steamer Trunk German. Circa 1914 DESCRIPTION: A World War I era steamer trunk manufactured by a company that is considered to be the German Louis Vuitton when it comes to quality of workmanship. Moritz Madler Co. of Leipzig. Germany was the largest trunk maker in Germany and patented this trunk style with the narrow wood slats and canvas covered wood body. 39" x 22" x 18. Has the owner's initials, H.B.G. printed on the top. Exterior is varnished canvas with a great patina. Interior is white canvas, all intact. Four canvas straps have MADLER embroidered on them. Corners have brackets for an interior shelf(not present) CONDITION: Please see photographs. I actually salvaged this one last week from the side of the road. It had been rained on the night before. So there is some water staining of the interior ... morecanvas, and it has a slightly musty smell that has improved as it's aired out. It's completely dry now. Overall in sturdy shape, r etaining original varnished and painted surface. Framed with original bentwood supports. One leather handle is missing, the other is broken. The medium is also a Samsonite, probably from the 50s. Great condition, with a little bit of staining on the fabric. It has 2 compartments one of which has original hangers. It measures approximately 24x18x8 inches. The big one is a steamer trunk made by Air Pak. I'm guessing it's early 20th century and it's in amazing condition. This trunk was manufactured by The"William Bal Co. in Newark NJ" and the plate on top of the trunk continues with"SPEC1198 Contract 6-23-16 Phila Depot" as you can see in the one picture. It has a Corbin Cabinet Lock from New Britain Conn. This trunk has been in the back of my garage for the last 50 years untouched. I would guess it is from the very early part of the century I did not try to clean it or restore it in any way because lots of people do not want that done so it is up to you.
