Antique Ancient Greek Style Pressed Glass Compote
Up for auction is a nice little compote stylized with ancient Greek images. It is pressed glass and I believe from the early 1900s. The only issue with this piece is that during manufacturing that a bubble close to the surface on the base had only thin glass which over time broken away. See picture 3. Other than that there are great bubbles throughout giving it a nice look and appeal. See pictures for more. I always try to combine shipping when possible.

You are bidding on TWO r u b y s l a g covered candy dishes, by the Imperial Glass Company. The pattern is called"Herringbone" 1560. It was produced between 1972-1975. Overall height is 4 1/2" from top of lid to bottom of the dish. Width of the bowl is 4 1/2" Width of the lid is 3 7/8" The lid sits inside the bowl on an inner edge. The base is 2 1/2" wide. The pieces are made from a ruby glass swirled with an opalescent glass to give it that marbled color. The pattern is of plain beaded edged panels alternating with herringbone panels. The lid has a snowflake design on the finial. Each piece is marked with the Imperial logo IG. The bowls on the bottom, and inside the lids. Condition is excellent. No chips. 1920's PNCW Pewter cAST METAL ~ Cobalt Glass ~ Urn Chalice Compote ADDITION: We did find out the following information: At one time there was a music box in the upper lid. A person had an identical one and this is what he wrote on his" There was a magazine article stuck inside dated July 1994. The article talks about this type of item. This chalice music box is also a covered candy dish. Probably dating from 1915-1925. The metal is probably spelter or other white metal. And the article also stated it probably originated in Czechoslovakia or in one of the countries of Western Europe" PNCW Pewter Cobalt Glass Urn Chalice Cup Compote This is very rare and detailed ornate compote/urn from the 1920's signed PNCW. Made is USA. The cobalt blue glass cup insert is is held by a antiqued gold looking metal. The metal work has a ornate ... morefruit and leaf theme. P.N.C.W. PNCW stands for Progress Novelty Casting Works who were famous for their plating after which they lacquered the castings to prevent tarnishing. THEY ALSO DID THE CASTING FOR MUSIC BOXES. It is approximately 8 1/2 inches tall. We are not certain that the metal is all pewter. Possible smelter. It looks like the heavily decorated exterior might be separate sheaths of metal, attached in panels by the thin bands that are shown in the photo of the lid. Some of the surface shows vestiges of a yellowy color which makes us wonder if the decorated surface is brass. The underside of the lid is quite smooth and silvery gray. The finial is hollow. We did not attempt to clean or polish the metal. It looks like the finial was added after as there appears something that makes it look added after the casting. The cobalt blue glass insert is in perfect condition. We am clueless as to how this decorative item was meant to be used. The bottom is marked P.N.C.W. Made in U.S.A. My grandmother shared this unique dish with my aunt who later shared it with me. My grandmother has been gone 28 years. So I can vouch this is a geniune antique! I've long liked the sandwich glass pattern and the story of it coming in cereal boxes as affordable glassware promotions, but rarely have I encountered this amber color which has an iridescense finish, similar to carnival glass. This is a beautiful antique late 1800's compote. This beautiful piece has a very large size pewter statue of a small child. The glass is hand blown cranberry color with ruffled edge and has a square diamond cut pattern. There are two very tiny nick's on the ruffled edge of the blown glass bowl. Not real visible This does not take away from this beautiful antique piece) The base is a light metal silver plate over brass. It has a lovely ornate design and has lovely footed ornate feet. The compote measures about 17" tall x and the glass bowl measures 12" x 12" wide. Really unique antique compote. This piece will be insured when shipped.

1970'S GORGEOUS CUT ROSE CRYSTAL BOWL COMPOTE w PRISMS& MARBLE& METAL BASE This is an offering of a lovely 1960's to 1970's era cut crystal compote that features a lovely scene of a rose that is repeated around the bowl 3 times. It also features an elaborate cut design and sawtooth style rim. It has a fantastic ring to the bowl and I believe it may be German crystal. This compote has a marble and antique gold metal base and also features 4 teardrop prisms that hang from a metal leafy style piece that is mounted right under the bowl. The stem of the compote has a faceted crystal piece with a partial label that says crystal cut but rest is unreadable. This stands about 11" for total height and the bowl is about 8 1/2" in diameter. It is in very good shape. I do feel a couple of small rough areas around the inside ... moretop area of the teeth but could not see any chips but is more like a rough inside edge to the teeth from time of manufacture. These are very popular right now for decorating and bring back some great memories of something mom may have had in the 60's or 70's era. Great for use with fruit or flowers. This is an exquisite heavy lead crystal Victorian piece that rings that crystal ring! It has a reverse thumbprint pattern around the bottom of the bowl and around the foot. And a bubble pattern around the top of the bowl. The whole piece measures 7-1/4" tall and the bowl is 8 3/8" in diameter at its widest point. Condition is very nice for its age: I see no cracks. ANTIQUE COVERED COMPOTE"BARBERRY" This antique glass compote was made by the Boston Sandwich& Glass Company in the"Barberry" pattern and dates to 1860-1880. This Early American Pattern Glass has a raised design of berries and leaves with a beautiful shell finial. Compote measures approx. 8" x 8-1/4" Condition: couple tiny flea bites on cover rim(upon close inspection) and some light utensil marks pretty good for glass 143+ years old. Interesting. Open compotes were left on the table to hold fruit while covered compotes were created to keep the flies off, no air conditioning and I don't know about screens back then. It is very heavy and thick. the base is lush and scrolling with 4 feet and pedestal design. the glass bowl is held on by a ornate brass fitting and the lid has a matching finial knob that looks like a pine cone or an artichoke. stands 10" tall. 6.5" wide at base and bowl is 6" wide. Found no chips or damage the glass or its rims. The base is very nice and shiny. VINTAGE ITALIAN TEAL BLUE ART GLASS RIGAREE APOTHECARY JAR LIDDED& FOOTED COMPOTE Lovely and unique glass compote in teal blue glass with clear glass rigaree around the outside rim. Measures 10.5" tall with top. And 6" wide at widest point. There are no maker's marks on the piece but I have seen pieces similar to this described as candy dishes. Apothecary jars or simply as decorative compotes. It is in excellent condition other than one small interior crack beneath the finial. See photos#12. SquareTrade © AP6.0 Hi, For sale here is one funky old cherub figural bowl/ dish. Can't tell you anything exact about it. Do not see any maker markings anywhere. Likely interwar(1919- 1940) period based on the look and the other stuff I found this with. This stands about 8 1/2" at its tallest. Top bowl is 10" diameter. Foot is 5 3/4" diameter. Weighs 3 lbs 3 oz before packaging for shipment. No noticeable cracks or chips. Wear to figures. They are brass colored. Could be hollow brass, or plated, I am not sure. Although I see no damage, there is something rattling inside them. TEXAS residents please add 6.25% state sales tax to the entire purchase price including the S&H fee.
