The bowl is cut with a wonderful scalloped edge cut in semicircles on the outside. There is a lightly cut lotus looking blossoms design around the bowl and in between the 4 draped panels with a cut diamond design. The stem is a lovely sculptured nude lady with a robe draped over one leg. She holds the bowl in one hand on her head. The base is cicular with a starburst design on underneath. The compote measures about 12 1/2" tall ... moreand 8" wide across the top rim. The base measures about 4 1/2" wide. It has a silver and blue label on the base which reads 24% pbo which I believe means lead crystal.It also has what looks like" roct 30407-96" on the label. There is also a worn blue and silver label on the bowl but I can't read the characters as they are foreign. Possibly Slovakian, Czech or Russian although I can't be sure. There is a bird with an open wing on it with the number 1756r The bowl was purchased at an antique dealer's estate sale but I was unable to learn much about it. It is in very good condition. I can see no chips on the rim but see a few light scratches which are very minor. This is a lovely tall Art Deco style compote. Thanks for looking. Absolutely gorgeous vintage twisted stem pedestal compote bowl in a wonderful AMBER color. It measures 10" tall and 7.5" across the bowl. It is made of Italian art glass from the 1960's. Circa 1900 2 ¾” tall by 5 ½” diameter Art Glass Compote I knew that it was unique and rare. I have never seen another piece of glass like it on over 40 years in the business. The landscape decorated design you see is not reverse painted, nor is it on top of the glass like camero glass. The design is actually within the glass and can be seen equally from both sides. The design had to be made when the glass was molten. This small compote has a satin surface and along the inside edge of the top is the signature“Montanoro” After quite a bit of searching online, as well as posting a few photos on Glass I'D forums, someone finally found an other example of of this art glass with this signature. If you go to papilio.cz and search the archives for keyword'Montanoro' you will find the one example of this glass we could find. This site referred to this glass as Bohemian. Up for your consideration is a stunning Antique Cut crystal glass footed compote. It is absolutely beautiful with crystal prism teardrops that hang on a bronze or brass petal stem. It looks like the Victorian or Art Nouveau era. The compote is is very nice condition with no chips or cracks. Underneath the base shows some patina loss under the feet with the number 1031. Antique Gold Gilded Brass Eagles Footed Art Glass Pedestal Compote Urn Vase
This is a beautiful antique gold gilded brass Eagles footed art glass pedestal compote or urn or vase. Including the Eagles. It measures 9 1/4 inches tall(23.5 cm) Without the Eagles, it measures 8 3/4 inches tall(22.2 cm) The glass section measures 4 1/2 inches tall(11.4 cm) The bottom brass part also measures 4 1/2 inches tall(11.4 cm) The top opening is 3 1/4 inches wide(8.3 cm) Measuring from one corner of a foot to another corner of a foot it's 3 5/8 inches wide(9.3 cm) The glass is frosted and has great-looking tiny ovals all over. I don't know how this effect was created. The handles are highly detailed Eagle heads. The base has beautiful detail also. Including the 4 feet. I don't think it's bronze because it's not heavy enough. So it must be brass. But the intricate detail is wonderful. The rim around the top of ... morethe frosted glass has a very slight bend in it(please see photo) There is a slight chip when you take it apart where the brass meets the glass. But it's inside and doesn't show when you screw the little piece of brass back that connects the base with the glass(please see photo) There is also a small chip where the top of the glass meets the brass. But it's on the inside. However. You can see it if you look at it from a certain angle(please see photo) It has a great old rich patina to it. Surprisingly. It's not marked with a company name. Vintage retro Farber Bros Art Nouveau Deco Era Compote Amethyist Glass MINT Brothers Louis and Harry Farber were born in Russia in the late 19th century and immigrated to the United State just after the turn of the 20th century. Louis and Harry began working for S. W. Farber. Their older brother who sold products under the name Farberware. In 1915 they formed their own company, using the trade name Farber Brothers Krome-Kraft. Many collectors mistakenly believe that Farberware and Farber Brothers are synonymous, but despite the fact that all three were brothers, there was in fact no relationship between the two companies. Farberware is still in business today. Louis and Harry decided to make hollow-ware and brass products that they could sell at competitive prices in the market, a business concept that was successful for nearly fifty years. ... moreFarber Brothers patented their famous clip-on, clip-off holder in 1932, which helped the company grow rapidly. The invention entailed a stand or base that held china inserts, which could be inexpensively replaced if the glass chipped, cracked or broke. Louis Farber purchased the Sheffield Silver Company in 1935, and continued to operate it separately from Farber Brothers, producing the patented holders in sterling and silver-plate, with glass inserts. Even though the Sheffield pieces had a different logo mark, the Farber Brothers design is quite obvious. Sheffield holders and inserts are coveted by collectors. By the 1950s, as Farber Brothers’ famed non-tarnishing chrome holders went out of style, brass versions were introduced to try and compensate for lower unit sales. The brass models sold well but only for a brief period and overall sales continued to decline until 1965, when the company shut down operations. Sheffield Silver continued operating until 1973, when Reed and Barton purchased the company, ending the Farber Brothers fifty year legacy. Acquired from an estate sale is an exquisite Vintage Art Glass/Crystal Compote Size: 8 7/8" W. 7" H, 4 1/4" W Base, 3 1/2" Stem. Condition: Excellent with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The piece does have some minor bubbles that are not very noticeable. Color: The compote is a a purple tone with a darker gold specs and ribs. The outside of the compote has an iridescent tone. Weighs 3 lbs 3 oz before packaging for shipment. No noticeable cracks or chips. Wear to figures. They are brass colored. Could be hollow brass, or plated, I am not sure. EAPG Antique Compote JACOB'S TEARS c.1880's JOB's TEARS aka ART Clear Glass
Antique Pattern Glass Compote c.1880's EAPG- Jacob's Tears DESCRIPTION A handsome EAPG( Early American Pressed Glass) compote in the Jacob's Tears Pattern. This pattern is also known as Job's Tears. Teardrop and Diamond Block and Art. This was made in the late 1880's by Adams& Company, Pittsburgh PA. A wonderful flaring shape to the bowl with large'Teardrop' pattern that is repeated in the pedestal. This is an antique and does glow yellow under a black light. In Excellent Condition. No chips or cracks, no scratches or utensil marks. Please note: The mold that was used to create this compote did leave behind some little marks in the base of the bowl. A common occurence in pattern molded glass. They occur only in the base of the bowl so they do not cause any problem for viewing the pretty design pattern. Not ... moredamages, no chips or cracks, just little factory flaws that can be seen in the glass. A straw like mark with tiny little black specks in the glass and a few tiny spots also embedded in the glass. Please see our two images that show these minor flaws. Gorgeous Early Bohemian Cobalt Art Glass Compote Pedestal Bowl Enamel. C.1860. This is beautiful Bohemian glass compote/ bowl. The glass is cobalt blue and decorated with enameled leaf and vine design highlighted with gold gilt. The ruffled rim is exceptionally done. It is decorated all around the inside as well as the outside of the bowl body and the pedestal base. There is an old unusual repair to the stem area between the bowl and pedestal base. Did not realize it had been repaired until after my purchase. So it is difficult to see at first but most certainly there. See last photo for close-up of area. There are no chips or nicks otherwise and the enameling is in great condition as well, just minor wear for a piece this old. The compote stands 5" tall and has a 7" diameter at top. A real beauty despite the repair. This Outstanding Bohemian Art Glass Compote measures about 9" in diameter and 7-3/4" tall. It does have some wear and some chips as pictured. Overall it is an outstanding piece of Bohemian Glass.The interior of the bowl is decorated with a golden colored enamel while the outside is enameled with a red colored flashing. This creates a fantastic three dimensionality to the compote When looking through the glass it almost appears that the gold enamel has a shadow. It is an exceptional find.
