ANTIQUE FLINT Glass Compote Boston & Sandwich c.1840's PETAL & LOOP Pattern EAPG
Antique Boston& Sandwich Flint Glass Compote c.1840 Petal& Loop Pattern Very Early High Resonance Flint Glass DESCRIPTION An unusual base on this bowl! A Boston& Sandwich early flint glass compote in the Petal& Loop Pattern made circa 1840 with a gorgeous silvery luster to the glass. Many Pennsylvania glass companies of a much later period made similar compotes in what they called LOOP- PETAL or TULIP pattern. None have the exact same design or beauty of this honest to goodness Boston& Sandwich Glass piece. The compote has a fiery brilliance. A very silvery apperance to the glass. This was made with a high content of flint giving it a very deep resonant sound when struck, the tone lingers like a bronze bell. In fact, when you just lightly touch this bowl you can hear a faint ring. a remarkable early piece of flint glass! ... moreThe entire design of the bowl is very deeply molded. It has 12 flaring petals that are 1/2" thick and drop down just below the bottom edge of the bowl. The underside of the bowl is quite unusual with it's 6 deep molded circles. The open pedestal base repeats the design of the bowl. This is a very early Boston& Sandwich Flint compote. With it's unusal design to the base of the bowl and the deep joining of the pedestal and bowl. The bowl and the pedestal were made separately and joined together with the typical wafer of molten glass. However on this one the pedestal was pushed well up into the base and you can see were the molten glass of the wafer was pushed out along the edges where the pedestal and bowl meet. Very heavy. This compote weighs more than 4-1/2 lbs. Size: 10-1/4" across x 6-1/4" high x 5" across the base. CONDITION Very Good Condition Expected straw marks from the press and some bubbles. There is some minor wear visable. You can feel a light roughness on the rim edge of a few of the petals and there is one tiny chip on the underside of one petal. Another small chip on the edge of the base. Expected table wear to the base of the pede
EAPG CANDY DISH COMPOTE ~1890 ADAMS & CO. GLASS VALENCIA WAFFLE ICE BLUE +CLEAR
You are bidding on: AN EARLY AMERICAN PRESSED GLASS LIDDED CANDY DISH OR COMPOTE. ADAMS& CO. VALENCIA WAFFLE PANEL PATTERN IN COMBINED ICE BLUE AND CLEAR GLASS. Here's a BEAUTIFUL find from an estate purchase; this came from a very old household in central Kentucky. And I've had it in my collection for a couple years now. This is Adams& Co. Glass. Produced in the vicinity of Pittsburgh with this particular pattern being produced 1885-1891. The pattern has alternating panels of two designs on each side, also known as block and stars. The bottom is in ice blue color, and the top is clear. I am not sure if the manufacturer originally sold mixed colors, or if someone combined the two matching pieces over the years, but I do know it works, and it's striking! Stands about 8 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide on the diagonal; ... morequite heavy and really more substantial than you might guess from the photos. Please know that I am extremely tough in grading my pottery. Porcelain and glassware: I've been collecting. Selling and trading antique items for over 30 years, so I know that the only perfect piece is one that just left the factory. And even then it probably has some original-manufacture flaws. I tend to call out flaws that other sellers might not notice or conveniently overlook, so when I tell you it's right, it's right. I want everybody happy. That being said. Here's what I'd note to condition: The lid has surface flakes and small chips at each of the corners of the rim, where glass meets glass. The base has a similar flake at two rim corners. None of this is really visible without close inspection, as it occurs in the edge of the rim only, and does not extend into any cracks or breaks. There is also a faint bit of cloudiness in base glass just under the rim area, probably the effect of trapped moisture, only visible if you hold it up to bright light. All things considered, pretty stunning that a piece of 130-year-old decorative glassware should survive in this state, and you can&

Fresh to the market is this wonderful antique piece of EAPG glass from 1885. The pattern is SHERATON also known as IDA and it was produced by Bryce. Higbee& Co. It is getting harder and harder to find these old 100+ year old. Made in the USA glass pieces and this one is in great shape. There are no chips or cracks. There is some minor rough areas on edge which I believe was the way it was created as they are not chips. The bowl contains a straw mark, also indicative of old glass, and there are bubbles in the glass bowl! None of these are defects, just indications of OLD glass and the way it was produced back then. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CUT BLOCK EAPG (?) CRYSTAL Glass COMPOTE candy dish with LID
I wish I could tell you exact information on this compote but I cannot. An antiques expert told me it is called Cut Block but there are no markings on it. It is 9" tall with the lid and 6" tall without the lid. The lid is curved to match the curves on the base of the compote and it fits into these curves perfectly. The base is scalloped. The stem of the base has a drape pattern and you can see the inside of the stem which resembles a blown bubble- but is simply the inside of the stem. My mother has this exact compote but in a 12" tall size that she has had for more than 50 years. She bought hers originally in an antique shop. this compote has no damage and very little wear on the bottom so it may have been stored in a china cabinet. The glass is very clear.

I have no idea why this is. However, I do ship worldwide so you are welcome to bid on any of the items. IMPORTANT BIDDING AND PAYMENT INFORMATION: IF YOU PLAN TO BID ON THIS ITEM AND ARE THE HIGH BIDDER I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU DO NOT PAY ME UNTIL YOU RECEIVE MY INVOICE NOT THE INVOICE ... moreTHAT IS GENERATED IMMEDIATELY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SALE BY EBAY. Ebay now has rules that all sellers MUST ship items for which they have been paid within one business day without exception. Those who follow my sales and have bought from me over the years know that I have always had a policy of shipping within 24 hours of a sale(see my feedback) However, there are times when I am out of town unexpectedly for a house call, an auction or an estate call and it simply is not possible to get to the post office in time. Also, if you find that there is more than one item you are interested in bidding on over a given time period and would like to take advantage of combined shipping, please again, DO NOT pay me until the last of those items you're watching has finished. I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping fee which saves on postage. I never charge a"handling fee" I would rather wait a few days on a payment and extend you the advantage of lower shipping fees than to be paid immediately- not ship- and then be scored negatively by eBay for not shipping soon enough. Gorgeous Antique Vtg EAPG Glass Compote - GR8 Pattern!
This listing features a beautiful pressed glass compote. It has such a great pattern and if anyone can educate me as what it is. I would appreciate it. All items I sell are either vintage or antique. So, there may be some less than perfect condition factor. Please note that I will state if the item is in excellent or mint condition. The books& paper items may have a slight"boxed up" smell. I buy all my items from estate auctions, so, I do not know if the person had pets or was a smoker. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC OR ADVERSE TO SMOKE OR ANIMALS, PLEASE read previous statement. I rarely wash or clean up an item as I have learned most buyers ... moreprefer doing their own cleanup. VINTAGE LIDDED COMPOTE: A BEAUTIFUL MANTEL or FORMAL TABLE CENTER PIECE! THIS STUNNING COMPOTE IS VERY HEAVY AND MADE OF THICK CLEAR GLASS. I FOUND NO MAKERS MARK AND"NO" DAMAGE OF ANY KIND! WHILE RESEARCHING THE PATTERN I NOTICED HOW DIFFERENT THE KNOB ON TOP IS FROM ALL THE WELL KNOWN GLASS COMPANIES. ALSO. I NOTICED HOW UNIQUE THE INVERTED PANELS ARE WITH THEIR ALMOST ROMAN LEAF DESIGN ON TOP. WISH I KNEW WHO MADE IT! THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS AND I WILL PACK FOR SAFE SHIPPING(APROX. 16 lbs) AND PAY THE INSURANCE FEE.
