You are bidding on: AN EARLY AMERICAN PRESSED GLASS LIDDED CANDY DISH OR COMPOTE. ADAMS& CO. VALENCIA WAFFLE PANEL PATTERN IN COMBINED ICE BLUE AND CLEAR GLASS. Here's a BEAUTIFUL find from an estate purchase; this came from a very old household in central Kentucky. And I've had it in my collection for a couple years now. This is Adams& Co. Glass. Produced in the vicinity of Pittsburgh with this particular pattern being produced 1885-1891. The pattern has alternating panels of two designs on each side, also known as block and stars. The bottom is in ice blue color, and the top is clear. I am not sure if the manufacturer originally sold mixed colors, or if someone combined the two matching pieces over the years, but I do know it works, and it's striking! Stands about 8 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide on the diagonal; ... morequite heavy and really more substantial than you might guess from the photos. Please know that I am extremely tough in grading my pottery. Porcelain and glassware: I've been collecting. Selling and trading antique items for over 30 years, so I know that the only perfect piece is one that just left the factory. And even then it probably has some original-manufacture flaws. I tend to call out flaws that other sellers might not notice or conveniently overlook, so when I tell you it's right, it's right. I want everybody happy. That being said. Here's what I'd note to condition: The lid has surface flakes and small chips at each of the corners of the rim, where glass meets glass. The base has a similar flake at two rim corners. None of this is really visible without close inspection, as it occurs in the edge of the rim only, and does not extend into any cracks or breaks. There is also a faint bit of cloudiness in base glass just under the rim area, probably the effect of trapped moisture, only visible if you hold it up to bright light. All things considered, pretty stunning that a piece of 130-year-old decorative glassware should survive in this state, and you can&

Crystal-Sterling Silver Base-Covered Candy Dish-Compote-See Hallmarks-Victorian
Gorgeous Victorian period Crystal and Sterling Silver covered compote or candy dish. Total height is 12. Diameter inside bowl is 5. Sterling base is 3" tall. Look at photos#7 and#8 to see dents to the silver base. There are no chips or cracks to the crystal portion. In photo#10 there is a slight"bump" on the inside of the cover's rim. It is smooth and you can only feel it from the inside. Bottom is covered in a felt like material. We spent quite a bit of time trying to decipher the hallmarks with little success. Here they are: CM8 inside a cross-Right facing Lion over the numeral 2-Sovereign Head which looks like a lady wearing a bonnet facing left-Letter C inside a round indention Help on the hallmarks would be greatly appreciated. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CUT BLOCK EAPG (?) CRYSTAL Glass COMPOTE candy dish with LID
I wish I could tell you exact information on this compote but I cannot. An antiques expert told me it is called Cut Block but there are no markings on it. It is 9" tall with the lid and 6" tall without the lid. The lid is curved to match the curves on the base of the compote and it fits into these curves perfectly. The base is scalloped. The stem of the base has a drape pattern and you can see the inside of the stem which resembles a blown bubble- but is simply the inside of the stem. My mother has this exact compote but in a 12" tall size that she has had for more than 50 years. She bought hers originally in an antique shop. this compote has no damage and very little wear on the bottom so it may have been stored in a china cabinet. The glass is very clear.

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CRYSTAL COMPOTE PEDESTAL CENTER BOWL STEMMED CANDY DISH
This is an exquisite heavy lead crystal Victorian piece that rings that crystal ring! It has a reverse thumbprint pattern around the bottom of the bowl and around the foot. And a bubble pattern around the top of the bowl. The whole piece measures 7-1/4" tall and the bowl is 8 3/8" in diameter at its widest point. Condition is very nice for its age: I see no cracks. Breaks, chips, or repairs. There are bubbles and scratches in the glass, but since I cannot feel any of them, they may be, literally, IN the glass: In other words, a product of this compote being manufactured a very long time ago. This is a Heavy and Beautiful Candy Dish or Compote. It is made of thick press/cut glass with brilliant pattern of double star or arches. The Metal is casted really thick and has a nice antique but shiny look. It appears to be brass as best as I can describe the color. It is very heavy and thick. the base is lush and scrolling with 4 feet and pedestal design. the glass bowl is held on by a ornate brass fitting and the lid has a matching finial knob that looks like a pine cone or an artichoke. stands 10" tall. 6.5" wide at base and bowl is 6" wide. Found no chips or damage the glass or its rims. The base is very nice and shiny.
