The pictures do not do this piece justice. This is a stunning crystal cut glass with gold highlights compote. This starburst pattern cut crystal glass has an amazing amount of gold on this compote bowl. The bowl has a lovely floral gilted brass center screw. Between the beautiful bowl and the glass stem is a wonderful gilted brass leaf pattern that the prisms hang from. The stem of the piece is a solid diamond shape glass. The prisms on this antique compote picks up great color. The brass ornate filigree pattern and marble base is a beautiful addition to this stunning compote. When this piece is in the light the gold just catches the eye. The antique compote measures 8" tall and the cut crystal gold highlighted bowl measures 8 1/2 across x 4 1/2" deep. The base appears to be marble and is 5" square. The support is bronze in color and I don't know if it is solid or plated. The bowl is about 8 1/4" in diameter and has a"sawtooth" edge. I have felt around the various edges and facets without finding any obvious chips. It also features an elaborate cut design and sawtooth style rim. It has a fantastic ring to the bowl and I believe it may be German crystal. This compote has a marble and antique gold metal base and also features 4 teardrop prisms that hang from a metal leafy style piece that is mounted right under the bowl. The stem of the compote has a faceted crystal piece with a partial label that says crystal cut but rest is unreadable. This stands about 11" for total height and the bowl is about 8 1/2" in diameter. This nice vintage compote set came from a recent estate sale. At least I was told it has always been a set but I am not sure that the candle holders match. I could be wrong though. They are all in good shape with no chips cracks or damage although there are some minor knicks/chips on the marble. There are 2 prisms missing on the compote and one missing on one of the candle holders. The prisms look like they were rewired although the very top wires look original. The compote which ... moreI think is crystal but might possibly be pressed glass stands just over 9 inches tall and is just over 11 inches across the top. The candle holders stand about 6.5 inches tall and are 5.5 inches across the base of the marble. The brass on the compote looks like it has cleaner in the grooves? Not sure but please look at the photos. All the pieces have felt on the bottoms so I have no idea who made them or exactly when they were made. If I were to guess I would say they are most likely Italian or German. All in all they are a nice set to dress up your buffet or dining room table. Monarch Crystal West Germany Vintage Compote With Marble & Brass Glass Prisms
Up for your consideration is this stunning vintage crystal Monarch made in West Germany compote. The compote has a beautiful star& diamond pattern with a scalloped edge. The pedestal is a brass metal material with a leaf pattern. It has glass prisms hanging from the compote with a marble base. The glass bowl measures 10 1/4" long 6 1/8" across and stands 5 1/8" tall. The compote over all stands 9 1/4" tall from base to the top edge of the crystal bowl. The crystal bowl has no chips or cracks. All the prisms are present and the brass and marble base are in wonderful condition. There is damage to the 3 of the panels that hold the prisms. Please review the last three pictures. It is a stunning elegant piece that is need of repair.
