This beautiful compote is etched in crystal. With the expected ringing crystal tone. The pedestal is applied both top and bottom. The bowl is hand needle etched with bows. Florals and swags of leaves. There are three abstract spider web-like patterns. The rim is frosted with clear oval cuts. Around the base are three floral and foliage patterns. The bowl of the compote measures 8” across and in total is 7” tall. It is in excellent antique condition. With no flaws we can find. We have been unable to find a maker’s mark. Antique Victorian very fancy silver plate 3 bowl compote or serving stand. Crystal bowls have a scalloped top rim and a leaf like cut design. The silver plate 3 legged stand is heavily decorated. According to a friend who is an appraiser for an auction house. This piece is probably from the 1880s, maybe early 1890s. The piece is large, standing 12.5" tall to the top of the finial on the lid, and weighs about 5.5 pounds. without the lid, the dish is about 8.5" tall, 9.5" wide and 7.25" deep(last 2 measurements taken at the top of the dish) There are etched leaf decorations in 4 locations on the dish. The pictures are taken of all 4 sides, then the top, then the bottom. This item is being sold"as is" The condition of the piece is very good plus to excellent. With no chips or cracks I can see or feel. There are a few very small bubbles/imperfections ... morein the glass(so small. They do not pick up well in the photographs) There is some roughness along a few of the edges. Probably from the manufacturing process. I am not an expert. This is a charming lead crystal piece that I think dates pre-1900. Although it could be later.but no later than the 1920's I think. The bowl part is on an unusually long stem. The whole piece measures 8-1/4" tall; the bowl is 6" in diameter. The bowl is etched in flowers and leaves. The bottom has an repeated oval design. It appears the rim may have once had gold trim. Glass bowl is cased glass with opaque white on the exterior and satin vaseline on the interior which does glow a neon green. Lovely enamel geometeric motif is hand painted with silver and gold accents through out the interior of the bowl. The bowl has a pressed puffy scalloped rib/ panel and the rim is nice crimped with multiple ruffles. Along the edge of the crimped rim has a ribbon of satin crystal. The repousse base is stamped with a number 12. I do believe and it is stamped by hand with a name, and date of 1854. The style of the hand written name. Etc. is done in dots( to form letters and numbers. Ludewig Barmese and 1854 is the only interpretation I could make out. The base is filled for weight and covered with ... moreold felt. Bohemian origin. Not signed. Believed to be attributed to Harrach. Condition of the glass: No visible chips. One teeny flat flake chip was found by touch along the underneath of the rim or deep folds. No hairline breaks or fading in the hand painted decor. Metal base does show wear considering age. Has one dent at the bottom of the base and there is a two small cracks on on the stem. Measures 6" tall. 11"diameter rim and the base is 4-1/4" diameter. Wooden base is not included. Hello- This is a wonderful Satin Glass Compote. Likely made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. There is a hairline crack, that does not go all the way through the glass, but rather deep inside the glass. This can occur during the cooling process from the manufacturer and is a probably a factory defect. The crack is not sharp, and the Compote will still hold liquid. For sale is a beautiful. Very old Victorian amber glass figural compote. It has a figural stem with 4 heads(I think they are lions, but it is hard to tell) around the middle as well as other lovely detailing on the stem as well. It is in very fine condition- no chips, cracks, etc. I am not sure how it was made, but the glass contains lots of bubbles and there is a pontil on the bottom. The heads are all a little bit different, which make me think that the various parts of the stem were blown separately and then put together. It is unique- you will not see another like it. One of the most exquisite examples of glass blowing in the 1800's was utilized in this cranberry crested art glass bowl. Set into an Egyptian Revival Silver plate basket made by Reed and Barton. Glass bowl has orange"nipples" sorry, but can't think of another way to describe them) Glass workmanship makes me think of Moser, Mt. Washington, etc, but I can't find any comparable glass online. Basket measures 12" tall. Glass basket is 9 1/2" in diameter and 3 1/4" tall. No flaws to glass or enamel decoration.
