With one small chip to the bottom rim, and roughness and discoloration to the hand ground neck(which appears to have had a cork or fabric strip surrounding the outside) This strip would have held the lid tightly. And it is currently ever so slightly loose. The domed lid is unadorned but for the monogram. And has two small dimples to the top. It is copper wheel engraved on four sides with roses and grapevines. The top rim is scalloped. The piece was blown in three sections- bowl. Stem and foot, and joined by the glassblower, in the nineteenth century method. It has a polished pontil. It dates to circa 1870. The celery stands 8 inches tall by 4 inches wide. The pictures do not do this piece justice. This is a stunning crystal cut glass with gold highlights compote. This starburst pattern cut crystal glass has an amazing amount of gold on this compote bowl. The bowl has a lovely floral gilted brass center screw. Between the beautiful bowl and the glass stem is a wonderful gilted brass leaf pattern that the prisms hang from. The stem of the piece is a solid diamond shape glass. The prisms on this antique compote picks up great color. The brass ornate filigree pattern and marble base is a beautiful addition to this stunning compote. When this piece is in the light the gold just catches the eye. The antique compote measures 8" tall and the cut crystal gold highlighted bowl measures 8 1/2 across x 4 1/2" deep. Antique Cut Glass Centerpiece Compote Description: Elegant colourless crystal glass compote is a very large size. The bowl has oval cut punties. The stem is hollow with elongated oval cuts. As pics will show. The base is a clear disc with no cuts, but there is a unpolished pontil mark in center. Not marked. Could be from Pairpoint or other North American glass company. No visible chips or hairline breaks. Found one flea bite just below the rim for accuracy. Does not distract. There is a few light and minor surface scratches on the footed base. Up for your consideration is a stunning Antique Cut crystal glass footed compote. It is absolutely beautiful with crystal prism teardrops that hang on a bronze or brass petal stem. It looks like the Victorian or Art Nouveau era. The compote is is very nice condition with no chips or cracks. Underneath the base shows some patina loss under the feet with the number 1031. It measures 10 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" across glass bowl rim. The base measures 3 1/2" across the feet. The bowl moves in circular fashion. Antique Large Cut Clear Glass Bird Motiff Compote---Beautiful!!!!!
I am selling a beautiful antique clear cut glass compote type of dish with lid. It is very. Very ornate in design. the design on the lid is birds. The lid and bowl look beautiful. the only item I feel really NOT see is a rough area on the bowl around the rim. The bowl is jagged and scalloped so much that I just feel the rough area, do NOT see it. the bowl has a wonderful ring when it is handled. I bought this at an estate sale from an older lady that I knew very well and she had owned this item for a very long time storing it in her curio. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CUT BLOCK EAPG (?) CRYSTAL Glass COMPOTE candy dish with LID
I wish I could tell you exact information on this compote but I cannot. An antiques expert told me it is called Cut Block but there are no markings on it. It is 9" tall with the lid and 6" tall without the lid. The lid is curved to match the curves on the base of the compote and it fits into these curves perfectly. The base is scalloped. The stem of the base has a drape pattern and you can see the inside of the stem which resembles a blown bubble- but is simply the inside of the stem. My mother has this exact compote but in a 12" tall size that she has had for more than 50 years. She bought hers originally in an antique shop. this compote has no damage and very little wear on the bottom so it may have been stored in a china cabinet. The glass is very clear.

Antique Cut Flint Glass Scalloped Compote Sweet Meat Dish c 1850 - 1860
This auction is for a Fine ANTIQUE Clear Cut Flint(lead) Glass Compote circa 1850-1860. The Compote features multiple cut facets around the outside of the bowl and in the center. Bottom of the base. As was the custom of the time. This piece was made in three pieces- the bowl. The stem and the base- there are some very light internal swirl air bubbles at the join of the bowl to the stem. The Compote. Which measures approximately 6 1/2 inches long by 5 1/8 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. Is in remarkably good condition. With only two shell shaped chips to the rim- both very difficult to see due to location(outside edge of the rim) and several very small nibbles- visible with a magnifying glass. This compote is one of two which I recently acquired- both were very lovingly cared for as is evident by the minimal scratches to the base and no ... morescratches to the inside of the bowl. The flint glass has the typical light grayish tint- possibly Sandwich glass. Please see my! This beautiful pair of cut glass footed bowls have an itriquite pattern and lovely scalloped edges. There are no chips. Cracks or breaks in either of these. They are in very good condition. This auction is for a Fine ANTIQUE American Brilliant Period Cut Crystal/ Glass Compote circa 1870-1880. The Compote features multiple cut facets around the outside of the bowl and in the center. Bottom of the base. This piece was made in three pieces- the bowl. The stem and the base- there are some very light internal swirl air bubbles at the join of the bowl to the stem. The Compote. Which measures approximately 6 1/2 inches long by 5 1/8 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. Is in remarkably good condition. With only two shell shaped chips to the rim- both very difficult to see due to location(outside edge of the rim) and several very small nibbles- visible with a magnifying glass. The compote features a French silver base with a stem/base which is 4 1/4" tall land is 4 3/4" across the bottom. The base has four scrolled feet and the stem has ball decorations. The bowl portion is made of cased glass-white cut to cranberry with gold decoration. The glass is lovely and the cutting is beautifully done. The rim of the bowl is scalloped to look like petals. I have not been able to find hallmarks. But the piece is guaranteed solid silver and as described. It probably dates to the 1880's and was most likely made in France. It is in very nice condition with no breaks or repairs in the silver. The glass has no chips or cracks, but the gilding is quite worn. Also, the bowl doesn't sit ... morequite straight which is often the case with such old pieces and the base has some bending. Exquisite antique piece. Thanks for looking.
