The bowl is cut with a wonderful scalloped edge cut in semicircles on the outside. There is a lightly cut lotus looking blossoms design around the bowl and in between the 4 draped panels with a cut diamond design. The stem is a lovely sculptured nude lady with a robe draped over one leg. She holds the bowl in one hand on her head. The base is cicular with a starburst design on underneath. The compote measures about 12 1/2" tall ... moreand 8" wide across the top rim. The base measures about 4 1/2" wide. It has a silver and blue label on the base which reads 24% pbo which I believe means lead crystal.It also has what looks like" roct 30407-96" on the label. There is also a worn blue and silver label on the bowl but I can't read the characters as they are foreign. Possibly Slovakian, Czech or Russian although I can't be sure. There is a bird with an open wing on it with the number 1756r The bowl was purchased at an antique dealer's estate sale but I was unable to learn much about it. It is in very good condition. I can see no chips on the rim but see a few light scratches which are very minor. This is a lovely tall Art Deco style compote. Thanks for looking. Vintage retro Farber Bros Art Nouveau Deco Era Compote Amethyist Glass MINT Brothers Louis and Harry Farber were born in Russia in the late 19th century and immigrated to the United State just after the turn of the 20th century. Louis and Harry began working for S. W. Farber. Their older brother who sold products under the name Farberware. In 1915 they formed their own company, using the trade name Farber Brothers Krome-Kraft. Many collectors mistakenly believe that Farberware and Farber Brothers are synonymous, but despite the fact that all three were brothers, there was in fact no relationship between the two companies. Farberware is still in business today. Louis and Harry decided to make hollow-ware and brass products that they could sell at competitive prices in the market, a business concept that was successful for nearly fifty years. ... moreFarber Brothers patented their famous clip-on, clip-off holder in 1932, which helped the company grow rapidly. The invention entailed a stand or base that held china inserts, which could be inexpensively replaced if the glass chipped, cracked or broke. Louis Farber purchased the Sheffield Silver Company in 1935, and continued to operate it separately from Farber Brothers, producing the patented holders in sterling and silver-plate, with glass inserts. Even though the Sheffield pieces had a different logo mark, the Farber Brothers design is quite obvious. Sheffield holders and inserts are coveted by collectors. By the 1950s, as Farber Brothers’ famed non-tarnishing chrome holders went out of style, brass versions were introduced to try and compensate for lower unit sales. The brass models sold well but only for a brief period and overall sales continued to decline until 1965, when the company shut down operations. Weighs 3 lbs 3 oz before packaging for shipment. No noticeable cracks or chips. Wear to figures. They are brass colored. Could be hollow brass, or plated, I am not sure. This very pretty very feminine piece is in excellent condition and was part of my mother's large collection of glass. China and small antiques. My mother had a label on the bottom of this compote that said"gift to Holly from girlfriend Betty G. 1940" This glass compote is an opaque white with a clear green glass ribbon around the edge. Inside the bowl and on the foot of the compote is painted a pink and gold floral Art Deco pattern. On the outside of the bowl are tiny gold leaves. Antique Art Deco Cobalt Crystal Compote with Silver Overlay 8''
This piece has me stumped. It is definitely old but appears to have irregular imperfections from the maker. First of all on the underside of the top rim there are small notch like marks that continue around the whole rim that appear to have been made when the glass was cooling on some sort of rack, these marks are original to the piece. Which leads me to believe this was probably sold as a reject of some sort. Also if you look at the last picture the top rim is uneven, which could only happen during its creation, There is a chip on the bottom rim as the pictures show. The silver is hand painted, you can see the brush strokes. The mark on the bottom appears to be F.294 which could be Francs and $.1 for US dollar. This is 8 1/4' high x 8' wide I would more than welcome any information you might have on this item.

Antique Art Deco Crystal Footed Compote With Lid And Etched Flowers
This is an Art Deco footed compote with lid or cover. It is crystal with a nice clear ring at my touch. Both compote and lid are etched with flowers. It stands 7 3/4" tall to the top of the handle. Is 6" in diameter, stands on a 3 5/8" base and weighs 1 pound 14 ounces. My antique dealer authenticates this as genuine Art Deco dating to the 1920's or 30's. The condition is excellent with no chips. Cracks or repairs. There are some bubbles in the crystal and a few light scratches. Please view my photographs for more description. Vintage Marble Base Lighter And Matching Compote Art Deco
You are looking at a rather fancy brass. Glass, and marble bass lighter. You are also looking at the matching compote. Both of these items have brass leaves that stick out with mounting holes. The holes are meant to hang crystals on. The lighter measures 10 inches high with a 4 3/8 inch base. The compote measures 7 3/4 inches high with a 4 3/8 inch marble base. The glass part has a 6 1/4 inch diameter. The glass on the lighter was made in Roumania and the bases on both pieces were made in Italy. Shipping Policy: I combine shipping on all purchases.
