ANTIQUE FLINT Glass Compote Boston & Sandwich c.1840's PETAL & LOOP Pattern EAPG
Antique Boston& Sandwich Flint Glass Compote c.1840 Petal& Loop Pattern Very Early High Resonance Flint Glass DESCRIPTION An unusual base on this bowl! A Boston& Sandwich early flint glass compote in the Petal& Loop Pattern made circa 1840 with a gorgeous silvery luster to the glass. Many Pennsylvania glass companies of a much later period made similar compotes in what they called LOOP- PETAL or TULIP pattern. None have the exact same design or beauty of this honest to goodness Boston& Sandwich Glass piece. The compote has a fiery brilliance. A very silvery apperance to the glass. This was made with a high content of flint giving it a very deep resonant sound when struck, the tone lingers like a bronze bell. In fact, when you just lightly touch this bowl you can hear a faint ring. a remarkable early piece of flint glass! ... moreThe entire design of the bowl is very deeply molded. It has 12 flaring petals that are 1/2" thick and drop down just below the bottom edge of the bowl. The underside of the bowl is quite unusual with it's 6 deep molded circles. The open pedestal base repeats the design of the bowl. This is a very early Boston& Sandwich Flint compote. With it's unusal design to the base of the bowl and the deep joining of the pedestal and bowl. The bowl and the pedestal were made separately and joined together with the typical wafer of molten glass. However on this one the pedestal was pushed well up into the base and you can see were the molten glass of the wafer was pushed out along the edges where the pedestal and bowl meet. Very heavy. This compote weighs more than 4-1/2 lbs. Size: 10-1/4" across x 6-1/4" high x 5" across the base. CONDITION Very Good Condition Expected straw marks from the press and some bubbles. There is some minor wear visable. You can feel a light roughness on the rim edge of a few of the petals and there is one tiny chip on the underside of one petal. Another small chip on the edge of the base. Expected table wear to the base of the pede

Antique C. 1885 SHERATON aka IDA Glass Compote - Bryce, Higbee & Co. - EAPG
Fresh to the market is this wonderful antique piece of EAPG glass from 1885. The pattern is SHERATON also known as IDA and it was produced by Bryce. Higbee& Co. It is getting harder and harder to find these old 100+ year old. Made in the USA glass pieces and this one is in great shape. There are no chips or cracks. There is some minor rough areas on edge which I believe was the way it was created as they are not chips. The bowl contains a straw mark, also indicative of old glass, and there are bubbles in the glass bowl! None of these are defects, just indications of OLD glass and the way it was produced back then. This antique glass compote measures about 6" tall and is about 8 5/8" in diameter. I have provided plenty of pictures for you to judge condition and to check out the item. And of course. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CUT BLOCK EAPG (?) CRYSTAL Glass COMPOTE candy dish with LID
I wish I could tell you exact information on this compote but I cannot. An antiques expert told me it is called Cut Block but there are no markings on it. It is 9" tall with the lid and 6" tall without the lid. The lid is curved to match the curves on the base of the compote and it fits into these curves perfectly. The base is scalloped. The stem of the base has a drape pattern and you can see the inside of the stem which resembles a blown bubble- but is simply the inside of the stem. My mother has this exact compote but in a 12" tall size that she has had for more than 50 years. She bought hers originally in an antique shop. this compote has no damage and very little wear on the bottom so it may have been stored in a china cabinet. The glass is very clear.

Antique LOTUS Flower Blooms Buds Vines COMPOTE c.1890's STIPPLED Background EAPG
Antique Pattern Glass Compote c.1890's Lotus Flowers with Stippled Background DESCRIPTION A beautiful and very unusual design to this antique pattern glass compote. This was made c.1890's or earlier and is in Excellent Condition. The design is of Lotus flowers. Full open blooms, partially open flowers and tiny buds all with trailing vines. The background is stippled and there is beading around the rim and the pedestal base. Made in a four part mold, the bowl and base are one, the mold lines clearly visable. When struck this has a good ring, not as deep and as resonant as very early flint glass, but still with that lovely ring that denotes leaded glass. The pattern name is a mystery to us. We have an extensive library of pattern glass books but did not find it listed. Nor could we find another piece of glass on the internet with this ... moremarvelous detailed design. The Lotus Flower pattern is delightful and quite dimensional, far more prominent than many other stippled background EAPG patterns that we have sold in the past. If you know the name or the origin, please email us we would be delighted to add the information to the listing. This is an antique and does glow yellow under a black light. Size: 7-1/2" high- 9" across the rim- 4-3/4" across the base Weight: 3-1/2 lbs. CONDITION In Excellent MINT Condition No utensil marks. No chips, no cracks, no hair lines. An Absolute Beauty! Antique EYEWINKER Tall True Open EAPG Compote Scalloped Round CROWN TOP
EAPG Antique Pattern Glass A Large True Open Compote Dalzell. Gillmore& Leighton in Findlay Ohio c.1889 EYEWINKER Pattern Scalloped Crown Top DESCRIPTION A fabulous fancy pattern. This is best known as EYEWINKER but has also been called Cannon Ball, Crystal Ball and Winking Eye. All of these early names certainly apply to this beautiful EAPG glass. A beautifully heavy glass. This antique Eyewinker compote is of a large size stands 8-1/2" high and 7-1/2" across the top and weighs 3-1/2-lbs and is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! A fabulous display piece for your collection of Early American Pattern Glass. The Eyewinker pattern is one of the prettiest patterns created in EAPG. This is just delightful with it's swirling lines and tiny beads outling the"winking eye" body just below the scalloped top edge. Below the panel of ... morewinking eyes there are projecting half round shapes that actually magnify whatever catches the light behind and around them and the tall pedestal repeats the pattern. There are plenty of straw marks from the press and tiny bubbles. And this does glow yellow under a black light. This was designed as a TRUE OPEN COMPOTE. Never had a lid. And that top edge is what truly sets it apart from so many other antique compotes, a stunning shape of high and low rounded scallops that effect a crown to the top edge. We guarantee this to be an original antique compote. Not a reproduction. Made by Dalzell, Gillmore& Leighton in Findlay Ohio c.1889. This does glow yellow under a black light. Do be aware that there are many reproductions of EYEWINKER pattern glass on the market. Most are found in colors and some in clear, but no reproductions have ever been made in this size and in clear with the desirable scalloped crown top edge!
