It is hard to find the sets today. 30 years ago. I used to buy them all the time, but I hardly see them anymore. This is a particularly nice set, oftentimes called a console set. The engraving of superb quality and all of the pieces are well marked. Each piece is smooth the interior and deeply cut on the exterior with fancy flowers, scrolls and leaves with a border of cross-hatching around the rim. I am not certain of the pattern name or the maker. By its form and feel. It appears to be EAPG. It is in good overall condition. There are several small areas in the upper wall with scratches(last photo) and the scalloped edge in the middle of the piece has some roughness to the edges as is expected from a EAPG pattern like this. A RARE. ANTIQUE, EAPG, OVAL VASELINE GLASS COMPOTE, CENTERPIECE. OR BOWL, IN ITS ORIGINAL, BRONZE FINISHED, METAL STAND, OR HOLDER. THE EAPG DESIGN OF THE BOWL IS UNIDENTIFIED BUT APPEARS TO BE A VARIATION OF A PANEL OR SWIRL DESIGN. IT GLOWS A BRILLIANT YELLOW UNDER BLACK LIGHT. THE BASE OF THE STAND HAS FOUR OUTSTRETCHED, C-SCROLL FEET ENDING IN A'ROLL' A PIERCED RAIL ON EACH SIDE; FRAMED WREATHS ON EACH SIDE WITH CONTOURED TASSELS EXTENDING DOWN EACH CORNER; AND FLEURS-DE-LIS SCROLLS, CROWNS AND FLORALS ADORN THE TOP OF EACH CORNER. THE CONNECTOR STEM IS ADORNED WITH ACANTHUS LEAVES. TWO OUTSTRETCHED BRACKETS ENDING IN SERPENT HEADS HOLD THE BOWL IN PLACE. A METAL FINIAL IN THE CENTER OF THE BOWL SCREWS INTO THE STEM OF THE BASE TO ADD STABILITY TO THE BOWL. THE MAKER OF THIS PIECE IS UNKNOWN BUT THE FEATURES ON THE BASE SUGGEST ... moreIT MAY BE OF EUROPEAN ORIGIN. IT IS CIRCA 1880 TO 1900. THIS ELEGANT PIECE MEASURES 14 INCHES LONG FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE TO OUTSIDE HANDLE. THE BOWL MEASURES 9 7/8 INCHES LONG; 6 3/4 INCHES WIDE; AND 1 3/4 INCHES IN DEPTH. THE BASE MEASURES 5 1/2 INCHES SQUARE. THE TOTAL HEIGHT OF THIS ITEM IS 8 1/2 INCHES HIGH.
