Because the mouth flairs out, more like an open jar, and there's no lip etc. to indicate it may have had one. I thought it would make a fabulous vase for you, or a perfect open jar to put your balls, shells.you name it, this jar will make them shine! It's an antique blown glass piece, and the color is a lovely bright light green. It's also large, measuring 11 5/8" tall, 7" diameter at the mouth and 6" diameter at the base. It's heavy, weighing in at a solid 3 lbs. The glass is thick, and it's filled with anomolies original to the making- I'm trying to show in in my close ups, even holding it up to the sky doesn't show you very well, though. There's lots of lines(the glass is very wavy inside) bubbles and burps, even on the base. That being said, there is absolutely NO damage at all to this piece- it's in amazing condition, and just drop dead gorgeous! Please ask if you have any questions. Cute Green Glass Compote or Apothecary Jar, Italy Italian Vintage Blown Glass
This beautiful green glass piece appears to be blown- it has the characteristic bubbles as well as the pucker in the middle of the underside. We're guessing it's a vintage Italian piece. While we don't know a lot about glass. It looks very much like some of the mid century Italian pieces online. Please judge for yourself from the pictures. It measures about 5-1/2" high by about 7" across at its widest point. It's in very good condition. As mentioned. It has some lovely bubbles, both small and large. See pictures 4 and 5 for examples. It may show minor signs of wear here and there, but honestly I don't see anything wrong with it. This piece goes very nicely with a lot of 8 small green blown glasses we also have for sale. The experience of seeing my neighbors house so full because she collected and treasured everything for all her life made me realize that my house could someday look the same if I just keep collecting as I have and if I don't let anything go. It was so sad that no one in her family wanted her things. It made me wonder what our family would do with all of what we treasure. Measures 10.5" tall with top. And 6" wide at widest point. There are no maker's marks on the piece but I have seen pieces similar to this described as candy dishes. Apothecary jars or simply as decorative compotes. It is in excellent condition other than one small interior crack beneath the finial. See photos#12. Lot of 3 Beautiful Vintage Silver Mercury Glass Pieces Apothecary Dish with lid- approximately 10" tall with the lid on and 7 1/2" tall without the lid 2 Decanter/ bottle stoppers- approximately 2" and 2 1/4" diameter at the tops One of the stoppers has some red spots on the portion that fits in the bottle. The lid to the dish is missing the paper that was blocking its hole on the inside- please see photos. The finish is beautiful and shiny. But there are some tiny black marks throughout, possibly due to age like an old mirror. There is a rattle to the dish itself as if there are some tiny shards inside of it that cannot come out.
