The dish measures about 8 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall. The Glass Compote is in great condition for it's age with some tiny flea bites on the the rim and a few factory mold flaws. Hello. You are viewing my auction for a Vintage Cut Glass Compote Or Candy Bowl With the Lid. This compote has a Marble and Brass metal Bottom. I am unsure of the exact type of metal it is. This glass compote has a Victorian style look to it. It has amazing details. This bowl measures with the base 14 and 1/4" tall by 6 and 3/4" wide by 6 and 3/4" long. It weighs 7.4 pounds. I am unsure of its age or where it was made. It reminds me of a an antique candy store bowl where candy was stored. This item is in good condition with some rough edges on the glass around the inner rim of the lid. There is also one very small chip on the top of the lid around the rim. There are no repairs present. The bottom glass section is in very good condition. Overall this is an amazing looking item that would be the center of attention in any cabinet ... moreor table. You are bidding on: AN EARLY AMERICAN PRESSED GLASS LIDDED CANDY DISH OR COMPOTE. ADAMS& CO. VALENCIA WAFFLE PANEL PATTERN IN COMBINED ICE BLUE AND CLEAR GLASS. Here's a BEAUTIFUL find from an estate purchase; this came from a very old household in central Kentucky. And I've had it in my collection for a couple years now. This is Adams& Co. Glass. Produced in the vicinity of Pittsburgh with this particular pattern being produced 1885-1891. The pattern has alternating panels of two designs on each side, also known as block and stars. The bottom is in ice blue color, and the top is clear. I am not sure if the manufacturer originally sold mixed colors, or if someone combined the two matching pieces over the years, but I do know it works, and it's striking! Stands about 8 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide on the diagonal; ... morequite heavy and really more substantial than you might guess from the photos. Please know that I am extremely tough in grading my pottery. Porcelain and glassware: I've been collecting. Selling and trading antique items for over 30 years, so I know that the only perfect piece is one that just left the factory. And even then it probably has some original-manufacture flaws. I tend to call out flaws that other sellers might not notice or conveniently overlook, so when I tell you it's right, it's right. I want everybody happy. That being said. Here's what I'd note to condition: The lid has surface flakes and small chips at each of the corners of the rim, where glass meets glass. The base has a similar flake at two rim corners. None of this is really visible without close inspection, as it occurs in the edge of the rim only, and does not extend into any cracks or breaks. There is also a faint bit of cloudiness in base glass just under the rim area, probably the effect of trapped moisture, only visible if you hold it up to bright light. All things considered, pretty stunning that a piece of 130-year-old decorative glassware should survive in this state, and you can&

Offered is an elegant footed compote. I believe the bowl is leaded glass and I base this strictly on the sustained ringing tone when it is tapped. The composition of the hanging prisms is unknown. The base appears to be marble and is 5" square. The support is bronze in color and I don't know if it is solid or plated. The bowl is about 8 1/4" in diameter and has a"sawtooth" edge. I have felt around the various edges and facets without finding any obvious chips. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CUT BLOCK EAPG (?) CRYSTAL Glass COMPOTE candy dish with LID
I wish I could tell you exact information on this compote but I cannot. An antiques expert told me it is called Cut Block but there are no markings on it. It is 9" tall with the lid and 6" tall without the lid. The lid is curved to match the curves on the base of the compote and it fits into these curves perfectly. The base is scalloped. The stem of the base has a drape pattern and you can see the inside of the stem which resembles a blown bubble- but is simply the inside of the stem. My mother has this exact compote but in a 12" tall size that she has had for more than 50 years. She bought hers originally in an antique shop. this compote has no damage and very little wear on the bottom so it may have been stored in a china cabinet. The glass is very clear.

This is a Heavy and Beautiful Candy Dish or Compote. It is made of thick press/cut glass with brilliant pattern of double star or arches. The Metal is casted really thick and has a nice antique but shiny look. It appears to be brass as best as I can describe the color. It is very heavy and thick. the base is lush and scrolling with 4 feet and pedestal design. the glass bowl is held on by a ornate brass fitting and the lid has a matching finial knob that looks like a pine cone or an artichoke. stands 10" tall. 6.5" wide at base and bowl is 6" wide. Found no chips or damage the glass or its rims. The base is very nice and shiny. It is an amber with white compote in a very large size. Usually these are found with the Jenny Lind cameo on the stem. But this one has the harder to find butterfly medallion. Size is about 10" high and 7.5" wide. Excellent condition throughout. Wonderful detail. The Nailsea Glassworks near Bristol. England closed its doors in 1873, so many people seem to assume that this glass is older than that. However, most nailsea glass that is collected today was actually made after the company's closing, ... morein the 1880's and 1890's by other English glassmakers, and it was continued to be made long after that in both the United States and Italy.
