I have for auction a Pressed Glass Compote with a metal base that 7 glass Prisms hang from. It does not appear to have been used much. The crystal bowl is attached to a non magnetic metal foot that has 7 glass prism drops hanging from it. The bowl is pressed glass. I do not see any obvious flaws in the glass but have not gone over it with a magnifying glass. This piece stands 9 1/4 inches tall and is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. It is heavy. etched clear glass compote w/ raised design from stem tiny bubbles in glass 6" d
This is 6 inches in diameter. Kind of heavy for what it is. Base has 3 uniform ridges in it, maybe pressed glass? no maker's mark. The ridges extend up the short stem and into the base of the bowl with the decorative design used to disguise them, culminating in a diamond that touches the etching in three places.It's approximately 3.5 inches tall. There are tiny bubbles in the glass in random places of the piece.

This auction is for a vintage mercury glass compote with hand painted leaf and flower designs that measures 5 1/8" high. 5 1/8" across the top and 3 1/4" across the base. The piece is much lighter in weight than the vases that I have listed, so I don't know if this is an indication that it is older or newer. The compote is in fair condition with losses to the mercury finish and paint, but no cracks or chips. Vintage Quilt; Home of the Brave design or Album Friendship Quilt Design 68 x 80
This quilt was machine stitched but appears to be very old. Perhaps on an old Singer machine? The fabric is dated. The back is brick patchwork in assorted colors. The top design is that of the"Home of the Brave" quilts made during the Civil War for the soldiers. There are some torn patches, the binding is worn away on the edges and there are stains. I took many photos; please look at all of them carefully. It is a beautiful quilt. It is a very large quilt, measures 68" X 80" The little story below explains the design: During the Civil War(1861-1865) The Sanitary Commission, which was founded in 1861 to assure that hospitals were sanitary and to give aid and comfort to the wounded, quickly developed into something much larger. The Sanitary Commission not only collected funds and supplies, but through the Ladies Auxiliary ... moreand their fairs they collected clothing and quilts. Women donated quilts that were quite simple in design. Sometimes instead of quilting women would use period comforter ties to hold them together. Some blankets were block quilts with messages of love and faith. Quilts were given as a part of the Union soldiers' comfort packages, which included rations. The Sanitary Commission gave out between 150,000 and 250,000 blankets and quilts that were made or donated to the Sanitary Commission by northern women. This figure does not include any personal blankets or quilts the soilders carried from home. A soldier would roll his blanket up perhaps with other belongings inside and carry it with him into battle. He would use it perhaps on warm nights for a pillow or to lay his weary body upon. He would use it on winter nights as comfort against the cold. If he were wounded it would become his hospital blanket, and because of the shortage of wood, if he perished from his wounds it would become his burial shroud. ANTIQUE ITALIAN PRESSED GLASS MARBLE BASE COMPOTE BOWL MATCHING CANDLER HOLDERS
This was a beautiful estate sale find. Pressed glass pinwheel style with two matching candle holders. Each piece has eight sets of teardrop prisms except the bowl. It's missing one set. But they seem to be easy enough to find. I haven't done anything to them but take their pictures. The bowl stands 9 1/4" tall and 8 1/4" wide. The candle holders are 8" tall and 5" wide. They have no chips or cracks that I could find. With a little TLC these beauties can be the centerpiece of your home. Offered at auction is this very fine piece of antique Early American Pattern Glass. The piece is a covered bowl or compote. The pattern is called Westward Ho and it made by Gillinder& Sons in 1879. I checked the website for fakes and this piece matches the real ones. This piece stands about 9” to the top of the Indian finial and is about 6 ¾” x 4” in an oval shape. My wife and I are downsizing so here for your enjoyment a pair of antique glass Compote with lids. These are probably from the 1920's or 1930's. I have been told that they could be older. The Compotes are in excellent condition. There are a few small dings or edge wear from use on the bottom of the lids. Unless you feel you probably won't notice them just looking at it. One lid does have a small chip that you won't notice unless you take the lid off and feel. Other than that they are perfect. My wife used these for serving and for decorating a buffet. They look beautiful displayed in a china cabinet. My wife also used these at Christmas to decorate by putting antique glass ornaments in them. A Rare Antique EAPG Compote Pattern Glass c.1850's EAPG- Flint Glass- Brooklyn Pattern Rare Thumbprint Base DESCRIPTION Antique Flint Glass with a beautiful bell like ring! A handsome EAPG( Early American Pressed Glass) compote in the rarely found Brooklyn Pattern. This was made c.1850 by Bakewell Pears in Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania. Illustrated in McKearin'American Glass' plate 213- 8 and described on page 399. It has a band of oval thumbprints at the top. The stem and foot are the same as that found on'Thumbprint' dome covered compotes and pedestal celerys, handsomely and deeply molded from the underside of the open pedestal. Made of the very finest quality clear flint glass, this has a beautiful bell like ring when struck. The glass is bright and sparkling with a silvery sheen. The top edge of the bowl is fire polished ... moreand has a scalloped rim and thumbprint decoration around the outer edge and is quite striking. The rest of the bowl has a deeply rayed design. The bowl and the pedestal are joined by a glass wafer. In excellent condition. Typical straw marks and a few tiny bubbles can be seen in the glass from the pressing. A very heavy compote. Very pretty pair of sterling and glass compotes. The marking on the bottom say'Sterling by Frank Whiting& Company. Weighted and Re-enforced, 2018' The glass compote wavy edge bowls screw into the sterling silver base so you can remove the bowls and use the base as a pair of sterling candlesticks. Very pretty set. There are a few dents on one base as shown in the close-up photo. Very minor but I wanted to point them out. Also realized the tarnishing was slight, so pulled out my jewelry cloth and gave them a soft buff. I do not know the age but guess them to be mid-century. Thanks for bidding!
