VICTORIAN W/ A CONTEMPORARY FLARE* Stained Glass Window Panel(Signed and Dated) Description This unique contemporary pattern is one I have designed and then created into a stained glass panel. The panel has a Victorian style but I have used a more contemporary color scheme to brighten the design. Colors include a blue/green opal glass. Amber, red, and light and dark purple. There are 2 green and 2 blue glass nuggets within a clear waterglass textured background. An all beveled border completes the panel! The panel measures approx. 21 1/2" by 11 1/2" and can be hung in either a horizontal or vertical directions as shown in the pictures. NOTE: I continue to get letters of appreciation for signing and dating each panel I make and feel honored that you have considered my work worthy of a signature. So. I have polished the solder seams with a black patina finish to really bring out the beauty of the colors and waxed the entire piece. Antique English Silver and Crystal Claret Jug from Victorian Era
Antique Claret Jug or Wine Decanter hallmarks seem to indicate this item was produced in London by; Horace Woodward& Co. Edgar Finley& Hugh Taylor in the mid 1880's This piece is tarnished and needs cleaning otherwise it is in good condition. I can't tell if this is silver plated and the plating is worn through on the inside of the spout or if it was gold leafed in the inside of the spout and that has worn off. Th e E.F. over H.T. in a shiel d is Edgar Finley& Hugh Taylor Hallmark entered in 1883. The capitol N in shield indicates a London date mark from 1888. The Duty mark appears to be Victoria facing left which was used un til 1890. The Lion passant guardant in shield indicates the silvers quality. I am unsure of weather this is plate or sterling and will tr y to have the piece evaluated. Graciously hand painted with floral and leaves with branches in vibrant enamels. The stopper has a cut diamond facet pattern with the end of the stopper having a few chips for years of use. Very minor. Handle is well secure and has a pressed reeded pattern. The rim is crimped with a small spout and there is a pontil on the low footed base. Not marked. And is of Moser quality. No fading in the floral decor. Cruet jug has No chips. Hairline breaks. Only flaw which can only be seen on the cruet when flip over, is the inside has light water marks on the very bottom of the cruet. M easurements: ... more8-1/4" tall complete. HP 19th c. dogwood milkglass covered syrup,pewter lid
This is a stately and rare 8 inch tall covered milk glass syrup jug. Hand painted in dogwood blossoms. The lid has a tight spring and is one of the patented lids that we see on these lovely utilitarian items for the exclusive Victorian table. The metal apparatus, which includes the handle, unscrews easily for cleaning. When you unscrew, the bottle, which is what it really is, once the mounts come off, has bites around the raw glass inside. Of course, the inside rim was never meant to be seen anyway, and was always a raw glass edge. I don't understand the process of painting on glass in the 19th century, but the paint is fused into the surface as much as paint on pottery. The decoration is soft pink and charcoal, dogwood blooms, nice painting, delicate work, accented by thin striping in orange and charcoal. This is a sweetheart of a little jug. Let's start at the top. The lid is a beautiful shape. Made of pewter, with a faceted piece of 100 year old mirror mounted to the thumb rest. The thumb rest may have been re-attached at some time, but maybe not. Inside the lid is a figure or Neptune or a warrior, leaning against or seated on a rock, holding a pitchfork or trident. The person who knows more about metal works in the 19th century will recognize this as a specific company logo and shake their head at my ignorance. The body of this jug is very round and horizontally ribbed. I don't think this is poured pottery, but thrown on a wheel. The neck is matte finish, the darker of the signature Wedgwood blues, accented with 2 thin stripes of the same cream as the spherical base.
