This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. It is a original steamer chest from circa 1900's and would have been used on the ships of old Metal handles at each side. Front locks and clasps there is no longer any key for the middle lock long gone. Four hardwood slats on top with one at the front and back also. It is approx. half the height of the standard ones. So would be great for any room in the house to make a great look and not take up to much space. The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. It is extremely heavy, and I would estimate between 75-100lbs+ in weight. It still has all drawers, storage box, original wooden hangers, and lock bars to secure drawers. There are original stickers on it from the cruise lines to Europe around ww1, railroad transport, etc. It has a flip up top for easy access to hangers with slide out extensions. It is missing the lock on front, but could easily be replaced if desired. As is, and has lots of scuffs and markings from age and use as a travel piece. Also seems to be missing a handle on the side? Vintage MADLER KOFFER Steamer Trunk German. Circa 1914 DESCRIPTION: A World War I era steamer trunk manufactured by a company that is considered to be the German Louis Vuitton when it comes to quality of workmanship. Moritz Madler Co. of Leipzig. Germany was the largest trunk maker in Germany and patented this trunk style with the narrow wood slats and canvas covered wood body. 39" x 22" x 18. Has the owner's initials, H.B.G. printed on the top. Exterior is varnished canvas with a great patina. Interior is white canvas, all intact. Four canvas straps have MADLER embroidered on them. Corners have brackets for an interior shelf(not present) CONDITION: Please see photographs. I actually salvaged this one last week from the side of the road. It had been rained on the night before. So there is some water staining of the interior ... morecanvas, and it has a slightly musty smell that has improved as it's aired out. It's completely dry now. Overall in sturdy shape, r etaining original varnished and painted surface. Framed with original bentwood supports. One leather handle is missing, the other is broken. Slight warp to front and a couple of tears to canvas that don't really take away from the appearance. Looks like someone tried to break into it at some point; the locks are not functional, but may be restorable. Looks like someone must have put on an additional lock(it doesn't show up on the original ads) and that's missing the bottom latch(I would just remove it, but that's up to the winning bidder. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition as it's not falling apart. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. But it may have been some sort of leather(hoping the experts will know from the photos) Some of the locks are either damaged. Or are missing parts. Missing one of the metal top corner protectors. Vintage/ Antique Large Monogrammed Wood Flat Top Steamer Trunk- Unknown Maker This is a larger steamer trunk that approximately measures 36.25" L x 21" W x 20.25" D The trunk was an auction find and I have no history on the trunk. The trunk is monogrammed with the initials"E.W.J. I was unable to locate a manufacturer name or logo. The trunk is in"usable" condition. But it has seen better days- PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS! The trunk looks as though it originally had leather side handles. Unsure of the covering. This trunk is from the late 1920's, very clean, comes from a smoke free& pet free home. Outer dimensions are approx. 36" wide x 23" high x 21" deep There is very little information available about this company. It seems that one John Eveleigh was born in Hereford. England in 1765, moving to Ireland ... morewhere all of his children were born before emigrating to Montreal, Quebec. One of his descendants, Joseph, remained in this city and founded the luggage company in 1870. In the days of lengthy travel by steamship and rail, there was obviously a huge demand for traveler's trunks. As the automobile and then the aircraft gained ascendancy as a mode of travel, luggage needs changed and perhaps Eveleigh did not adapt to this. The company was bought out in 1957 by the J.E. Lortie Company, also of Montreal, which had begun in 1892 as a saddlery business, eventually turning to the manufacture of leather pole-climbing belts and straps needed by workers erecting the the rapidly expanding electricity and telegraph lines. The Lortie company went on to manufacture canvas goods such as dunnage bags and army webbing during World War II, to which they added the Eveleigh product line when they acquired that company. Today, Lortie is known as Jelco, and specializes in fall-protection equipment. I will be listing a number of various pieces from 1930's-1970's. It is in good condition inside and outside, with obvious age related scars but no major flaws. It can be used flat for a coffee table or upright to store items in the four drawers of various sizes. This MidCentury trunk is a stained with dark mahogany stain color and is very sturdy and usable. The Corners are coupled with heavy aluminum edges. and there are typical dings and dents. Scratches and scuffs due to age and use. There is little to no musty smell, at least is not saturated with odor/scent- will spray with Apple Cider vinegar to help neutralize naturally. Not sure of what type of wood- but there are additional carved wood bumpers on outer sides this Shabby Cottage Chic piece~ This trunk is antique and old- and has original small cast-steel wheels. All 4 are present and rolls fine. One hinge that is strong and holds up fine. Up for bid is this antique Steamer Trunk. It has a false bottom& a secret drawer. The secret drawer opens by turning a screw that releases a latch. I'll let you figure out which screw to turn. The interior is cedar& it has a removable tray. The latch has come loose& it says on it Eagle Lock Company Terryville. Conn. There was a couple pieces in it but I don't think they go to the trunk. I will include them in the auction. The latch looks like it was glued on. The trunk has a removable tray which is made of cedar as is the interior& the secret drawer. The exterior is steel or tin or sheet steel or what ever you want to call it. It's magnetic, with wood accents. The raised strips areas riveted on the trunk on the exterior are wood with the rest being metal. The secret drawer opens& closes smoothly. I guess people ... moreback in the day had problems with their relatives stealing stuff too or were into smuggling. It is spring loaded so when you turn the latch the drawer pops out. Some idiot has painted the trunk white. It should be fairly easy to strip off. It looks like it is already peeling off& shouldn't be too much trouble to get off. The red interior has one are that has a spot in it as seen in the picture& a small damaged area where the lock goes as seen in the picture. The trunk is heavy weighing approximately 39 pounds. The trunk measures approximately 24" tall by 14.25" front to back& 18" to the top most part of the curved top lid. This trunk will look cool restored sitting by the foot of the bed& with the cedar wood it will keep all the bed bugs out of what ever you like to store in it. You know this will be a cool restoration project for you during the long winter months. In the last picture I show the latch& the 3 extra pieces I found in the trunk. Rare Vintage Antique Humpback Steamer Dome Top Trunk lined with Copper
I have up for sale a unique and wonderful vintage Copper Covered Humpback Steamer Trunk- yes you are reading this right- copper covered. First time in nearly 30 years of dealing that I have seen a humpback made with copper. It comes from the estate of an elder pair of local collector's. They had a small private museum and this was one of the items in the museum. The trunk weighs approx 33 lbs as you see it. Measures approx 26" long x 19" tall, and 15" deep. It has wood slates, a copper covered body, and brass plated latches and brass plated handles on the sides. I estimate the age to be from the early 1900s to 1940s. The trunk is in very good overall condition! The copper has some age and use wear. Looks as though it was polished way back when and has now darkened and tarnished over. The interior looks as though it was ... moreredone somewhere down the line. This is a good solid piece, not too big not too small, nice and sturdy, very unusual with the copper covering. Antique Wardrobe or Traveling Wardrobe Trunk. Circa 1900s-1930s in excellent condition. American company, Lutz& Company of Washington, DC. Opens to wardrobe on left and drawers on right. On lower left is a case for shoes or other accessories. Top right drawer is divided into 3 sections with a lock(don't have the key) Bottom drawer is a hat drawer. There are 5 long hangers and 2 short hangers. There is an horizontal presser bar to hold items in place. Hangers are on chrome rods that telescope out, allowing the clothing to not be pressed so tightly when trunk is open. There is a Locking Bar on the right to hold the drawers closed while in transit. When on end, the top, which opens upward, is slightly domed. Leather handle on right end is no longer functional. All metal hardware is in place and the outside lock has a functional KEY. ... moreThe outside seems to be made of wood, which has some cracking, mostly the right domed end(see photo) The stains on the outside come out for a brief time with oiling. Would be beautiful if redone. Item has been used for the last 35 years as storage or as furniture. Also included in the 2nd drawer is a drawstring bag made of the same material as the lining in the interior of the trunk. Overall dimensions: 40" long x 20 1/2" high x 21" deep. Great as an accent piece or use as a table, seating or storage.

A very large wardrobe trunk made over 100 years ago by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made and in virtually perfect condition. It is fitted with a fully equipped interior and oak slats and ball castors on the exterior. This fine heavy trunk is complete and fully functional. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. What an amazing estate find! Atkinson& Long mfg co. from Petersburg Va made this trunk. Overall trunk is in amazing condition for it's age. Comes with original hangers and material. it doesnt look like anything has been changed out. Trunk lock is bent so it would have to be fixed to close it fully. If you have any questions let me know. This is local pick up only unless you want it freighted to you. We would have to figure out how much that would cost, since i have never used that service before. I've seen on ebay where you can purchase the keys for this trunk.

A beautiful antique designer"steamer" trunk measuring approximately 23.5" tall. 35.5" wide, and about 22.5" deep. The lock is stamped and made by Eagle Lock Co. of Terryville, Conn. and we believe the trunk to be circa 1900 give or take. It is in good antique condition with normal surface wear commensurate with age and use- plenty of dings, scratches, etc. The leather handles on each side have been lost, and one rolling wheel/castor is missing on the bottom(please see photos) The trunk retains the tray insert on the inside and there is some wear and tear to the paper lining on the inside. Authentic Goyard Steamer Trunk Beautiful Vintage Trunk Has Initials C. R. H. on two sides of the trunk in red paint Evidence of travel is shown with some of the preexisting travel labels on sides The brass hardware shows tarnishing as seen in original patina The interior of the trunk originally had shelves and hangers. Unfortunately those are no longer with the case Normal wear and tear throughout. Please see the mark on the leather edge The lock was at some point opened without a key. Latch still closes but does have signs of it's forced entry.
