Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. The drawers lock into place and are lined, wood on the outside. The top drawer has a key lock(not included) When you pull out the drawer, there is a leaver that you turn which unlocks the other drawers. The wardrobe side includes the hangers shown(5) and the top opens to ease in getting the hangers out. the metal slats for the hangers to slide out as well, however the right one is hard to push. Has a fabric cloth to cover the clothes from the drawers. This is a large heavy truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. The top(picture 6) shows the rip in the fabric. Has two tags on it. First is the Hartman Trunk co, Racine, WI. The other is on the corner and says Wasseman's, Grand Rapids, MI. That means this trunk went from the United States to Germany, then to Scotland and back to the United States. Measures 40" tall, 22" wide and 21 1/2" deep. Shipping is quoted with UPS. What's so cool about this ... morewardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds shoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. The trunk has multiple brittle stickers(less as time goes on) from Germany

Up for auction is a early 1900's steam trunk luggage made by Winship Migrator. This trunk is made of solid wood and leather. The hardware does have light surface rust as this is easy to clean with steel wool. The leather is scratched. Cracking, and coming up in some places. One of the 2 handles are broke. all the latches work and this does come with three origional wooden hangers. One of the hangers does have a chip in the wood. This is a real time treasured piece! The inside does looks great. It may have a light stain or two and some slight dust as this is normal for it's age of around 100 years old. It measures 29.5 x 9 x 20.5 inches.

Antique Vintage Black Steamer Wardrobe Locking Trunk Luggage w/ Hangers & Keys
This auction is for an antique steamer/wardrobe trunk made by Preismeyer Bros. St. Louis. It has 6 drawers on one side, and a"closet" with its original wooden hangers and a drawer underneath on the other side. A metal rack pulls out so you can access the hanging clothes like they are in a closet. The drawers and the"closet" are locking, as is the trunk itself, with the same key. The key comes with the trunk. Cosmetically. The trunk has been cleaned and painted black inside and out, with the insides of the drawers and closet clear-coated to seal them. The outside shows wear from use, but seems to be solid and in great shape! The latches all work as they should, but the leather handle on top is missing. The trunk has no strong or offensive odors. Antique Wardrobe or Traveling Wardrobe Trunk. Circa 1900s-1930s in excellent condition. American company, Lutz& Company of Washington, DC. Opens to wardrobe on left and drawers on right. On lower left is a case for shoes or other accessories. Top right drawer is divided into 3 sections with a lock(don't have the key) Bottom drawer is a hat drawer. There are 5 long hangers and 2 short hangers. There is an horizontal presser bar to hold items in place. Hangers are on chrome rods that telescope out, allowing the clothing to not be pressed so tightly when trunk is open. There is a Locking Bar on the right to hold the drawers closed while in transit. When on end, the top, which opens upward, is slightly domed. Leather handle on right end is no longer functional. All metal hardware is in place and the outside lock has a functional KEY. ... moreThe outside seems to be made of wood, which has some cracking, mostly the right domed end(see photo) The stains on the outside come out for a brief time with oiling. Would be beautiful if redone. Item has been used for the last 35 years as storage or as furniture. For sale is an antique Oshkosh Trunks and Luggage Co. full wardrobe/ steamer dome top chest in outstanding condition. Dark Green(think British Racing Green) with cream trim. All original hardware(including lock/ handle made by Eagle Lock Co. of Terryville, CT) leather handle still intact. All hangers, no rips in fabric, drawers still have tie downs, handpainted"L.L.H. Wynnewood, PA" see pics) Paint is still pretty glossy. 5 of the ball casters still roll, 3 are rusted. Super clean, all original. Can be used as is, can be further reconditioned(all I've done is wipe it down to remove the"attic babies" repurposed- whatever floats your boat. Antique Wardrobe/Steamer Trunk c. 1929, Dependo, Olive Green
This is a very sturdy luggage quality wardrobe trunk complete with wooden hangers. A silk liner, and drawers. The item has been well used, so it has natural wear and tear. Everything is fully functioning, and the leather handle is in good condition. The key is missing, and the trunk does lock. The trunk is currently open and a simple wedge in the lock would prevent it from re-locking. The shipping tags on the top are somewhat readable. And one has a shipping date of 9/10/29. The trunk must predate that, but I don't know the actual manufacturing year.

The condition is very good overall. There is overall surface wear commensurate with age and use, including some dings and scratches as they are found commonly on antique luggage. ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK WARDROBE A n Antique Steamer Trunk Wardrobe. This is a really neat piece. There are some paper remnants which I believe have German writing. Otherwise. I can not find a marking. Woven textured exterior with oak or wood trim and leather handles. There are brass or metal sections and a heavy rubber material around the edges. The latches are working, but there is not a key. It opens to 4 drawers on one side and a section for hanging clothes on the other. It is fabric lined-lining shows wear. It measures 43 3/4" long, 22 1/4" wide, and 20 1/4" tall. I have not tried to clean this up-thought that should be left for the expert. Definitely old and does show wear, but still nice. Buyer pays USPS Postage. Pick Up is always welcome. THIS IS MY VINTAGE STEAMER TRUNK FOR SALE Let me tell you about it. Its HUGE! 3 feet 5 inches tall. And 2 foot square. Made by"EVERWARE" Trunks. Newark NJ. And made With"Guaranteed Hard Vulcanized Fibre" Its is a dark green. The pulls in side are steel the locks and hardware on the out side are brass, the brass is alittle rusted and very tarnished. There are some traveling stickers on it but are all modern. I do have a Key for the large outside lock. And the not pictured bar lock that keep the drawers from falling out. I did add some small plastic ledges under the drawers, to make them able to pull out. One of the 15 hangers are original the rest are reproductions. The bars the cloths hangers hang out pulls out, this extends the bars to a full foot, and the top flips open. The Other side of the trunk has 4 drawers. First ... moreon top is 10" X 4" has a 1/3 divider. The Second Drawer. Is 9 inches deep 10 inches from front to back The 3rd Drawer. Is is 9 inches deep 10 inches front to back The 4th Drawer is 15 inches deep and 10 inches front to back has 1/3 divider. Again the condition is not great but at this point its 100 years old smells alittle musty rusty around the edges. But this is a one of a kind trunk. i used it for many years and kept everything i ever needed inside it, as i dragged this 150 + pound thing across the USA, you should do the same.
