One of the leather handles is broken. The other leather handle is intact and works. There is some rusting and some wear/ scratching on the top but it gives it character. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age ... moreof the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. But please see all the pictures for the best description. For a trunk this old I consider its condition to be normal. Also, this would make a nice coffee table. the top is flat. ANTIQUE TRUNK~DATED 1938 by AMERICAN HARDWARE CO.~75 YEARS OLD & COUNTING~SWEEET
Going through the many. Many items that I inherited, that were stored in an air conditioned storage down here in Florida, I found a very rare find: an antique 1938 trunk. This trunk has a brass plate mounted on the top that is marked: American Hardware Company, Inc.~Contract W199~Q.M.16534~September 23, 1938~Spec. No.23798~Stock No.26-L-294~Chicago Q. M. Depot" This trunk also has a front brass lock that looks like it may have had an old fashioned skeleton key that was used to open it(sorry, but I couldn't find the key) and this lock is marked"Eagle Lock Co.~Terryville, Conn.~Made in U.S.A. This trunk measures 31" wide, 14"t all, and 17" deep. On the inside of this this trunk there is a lift-out two-compartment box that to me looks like it is made out of oak or possibly a rough cedar, and it measures 29-1/2" ... morex 15-3/4" x 5" deep. One amazing thing about this trunk, especially for being over 75 years old, is that everything is tight and, again for being over 75 years old, this trunk is in amazingly good condition with only two faults: one is that both of the leather straps have broken off because of age, and about the only other major mark is a scratch on the top(as per my pictures) that is right above the brass American Hardware Company plate. THEY JUST DON'T MAKE ITEMS LIKE THIS ANYMORE THAT HAVE BEEN USED FOR 75 YEARS AND STILL HAVE 200 TO 300 YEARS LEFT IN THEM! When I mentioned that everything looks to be tight: this trunk has hundreds of rivets, metal corners, latches, etc. etc. and nothing is loose or damaged. All there is on the metal is patina. I myself if I were to keep this trunk I would have all the metal professionally finished and that way this trunk would come out fantastic. But in the past my buyers and watcher have sent me notes saying: DO NOT POLISH OLD BRASS OR GET RID OF THE PATINA" I am also keeping the shipping down very low compared to what other trunks for sale are charging and considering this trunk weighs almost 38 pounds. This has the original lift out tray with all the compartments and also the lid of the trunk has a compartment as well. this has the original old wheels on the bottom too. the leather handle straps are gone but can be replaced. There is wear and stains and could stand some repairs which is very common and expected for trunks of this age. We have an excellent condition cedar lined trunk by the Whittle Trunk& Bag Company of Knoxville. TN. This is a Cedarobe trunk. This trunk has 4 cedar drawers on the right side and the left side has wood hangers and a removable small suitcase that matches. Overall this trunk is in remarkably great condition for its age. I do not know the exact date it was made. This trunk is antique and will not be perfect. The trunk measures 40 ¾ inches tall, 21 5/8 inches side to side and 24 ¼ inches front to back. It weighs 84 pounds.

H Hoskins and Co marked wooden trunk and/or box. This is a really remarkable piece and I haven't been able to find any other trunks like this one. This trunk has a few markings on the interior of the box(please see pictures) But it looks like it was from Wm. H. Hoskins and Co, which was a stationary company from the late 1800's into the early 1900's in Philadelphia. The box also has a"Penn. R. marking, which makes me think this might have been used on the railroads, but this is just my own speculation. The box measures 37"L x 16"W x 14"H. It has a Corbin Cabinet Lock from New Britain Conn. This trunk has been in the back of my garage for the last 50 years untouched. I would guess it is from the very early part of the century I did not try to clean it or restore it in any way because lots of people do not want that done so it is up to you. Wardrobe steamer trunk (made by Corbin lock co.)
This is a nice old wardrobe steam trunk. There are no dents on any of the exterior metal straps. Brass, etc. Leather has some age cracks and is a beige color. The only interior concerns are that the laundry/wardrobe bag is missing, half of hinge on shoe box missing, some separation on lower drawer(just needs a staple or two, which I'd prefer to let buyer do, as I don't want to ruin any patina) Interior has some water damage a some small tears in fabric, but in really good shape for it's age, just needs a little clean up. Large Antique Hat Trunk by Henry Pollack Trunk Co.
Antique large ladies hat trunk. The trunk is in good unrestored original condition with some canvas damage and typical wear and signs of aging.This is a"slatless" style. Which means it has no exterior wooden slats.It has pressed fiber{faux leather} edge bindings attached with shot head tacks. Scalloped shaper fiber binding material is also down the center of the top and front. The wood is covered by a heavy canvas which is unique in that the canvas has a floral and vine pattern printed or embossed onto the surface. Their is a front center lock which is solid brass and marked"Eagle Lock Co. Terryville, Ct. The original key is included in the auction. There are steel latches on the front of the trunk as well as the sides because the lower portion of the front folds down, with three hinges on the front. This is a seldom found ... morefeature on these trunks. The leather handles are missing and the steel handle holders are present. The interior has the original striped fabric lining. The lift out tray is present as well as the drop down tray that folds up into the lid. The trunks bottom is covered with sheet iron, with three wood slats and is in good condition with the four original metal rollers. The trunk was made 1906 and 1925. This trunk can be used as-is or restored to increase the value. Restored value is estimated by appraiser at around $900. Full appraisal by"This Old Trunk" will be given to buyer.

Antique Wood Chest Small Trunk Fabric Covered Worcester Metal Goods Co. Lock Key
The box measures 15.5" x 8.5" x 7.5" and is in good condition for its age. I do not know the maker of the box but the hardware is made by Worcester Metal Goods Co. It is very sturdy and the hinges are holding up well. The fabric is very soft but I am not sure what material it is. It is tearing at some of the edges but is mostly intact. It looks like only one nail is missing and I think it just held the fabric in the corner in place. All of the rivets for the hardware are original and intact. The lock is a little tight but it works well and has the key. The inside feels similar to wallpaper and has some wear and discoloring but is in pretty good shape. Feel free to ask questions. VINTAGE CEDAR CHEST ED. ROOS CO. 1900-1950 SWEET HEART TRUNK
This is an Ed. Roos Co. Cedar Chest which is great condition. The information below gives you information about the company and vintage era about this cedar chest. Cedar Chest by Ed. Roos Co. The Ed. Roos Co. manufactured quality cedar chests from about 1916 to 1951. Most of those years they were located in Forest Park. IL. They were very successful for a time and made a large quantity of cedar chests. Because of that they are not particularly scarce. They are, however, of very good quality and were manufactured in quite a few styles. The style and condition are the determining factors in value. The Art Deco"waterfall" style. It is. However, in better condition and would be worth about $200-$250. The"Roos Manufacturing Co. of Chicago was established in 1871 by Edward Roos(born in Germany in December 1848) Died in 1906. He had ... moreseveral children including Otto(born 1877) and Edward(born 1880) Otto took over the Roos Manufacturing Company when his father died in 1906. They did manufacture cedar chests, but it is unclear when they started. The business began making curtain rods and later wooden boxes. They used a rooster in several variations in some of their logos. The"Ed Roos Company of Forest Park" started in Chicago as the Roos Cedar Chest Company in 1916. And also manufactured cedar chests, but it is a different company. They used a tree(presumably a cedar tree) in a circle as their logo. There are also other logos without the tree, and one with a heart for their"Sweetheart" chests. They also used a variety of paper and cardboard labels. It was started by Otto's brother. Edward. The company moved to Forest Park, IL in 1918 and changed its name to the Ed Roos Company of Forest Park In the 1920 federal census. Otto Roos is listed as President of a wooden wares business. So it is clear that the original Roos Manufacturing Company was still at work in 1920, after Ed Roos opened up shop in 1918 in Forest Park. What an amazing estate find! Atkinson& Long mfg co. from Petersburg Va made this trunk. Overall trunk is in amazing condition for it's age. Comes with original hangers and material. it doesnt look like anything has been changed out. Trunk lock is bent so it would have to be fixed to close it fully. If you have any questions let me know. The case and handle are solid but if you look at the pictures you will see when it's open it's a little warped which I think is common for one of these. Up for auction is a vintage National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Black Trunk/ Chest with a working key/lock. There is a removable two compartment tray. One of the supports for this tray is intact but damaged. In overall good shape. There are scuffs, it is musty, the leather is old and crumbly, the brass needs a a good polish but in my opinion, it is cool. The pictures speak for themselves.
