VINTAGE STEAMER TRAVEL WARDROBE TRUNK CHEST WITH KEY HANGERS DRAWERS - NICE
Up for bid is this awesome vintage steamer trunk. This amazing wardrobe-style chest normally stands upright on rollers and is pulled by a single handle on the top. The trunk is intended to travel on its wheels. But it also sits nicely on its side if desired. Once opened. The trunk reveals four drawers of varying sizes on one side. On the other side, a drape hangs over a small closet. A covered small suitcase box holds wooden hangers to be used in the closet- it fits into place to make a storage space at the bottom of the closet area. The top of the closet opens up. See pics. The interior of the trunk is all nicely lined. Including the drawers. The interior hardware and hangers are intact. There is a lock on the top drawer, I do not see a key for it, although the exterior lock on the trunk comes with its key. Based on the information on the ... moreexterior lock hardware. It was made by the Eagle Lock Company, Terryville, Conn USA, no. 56K12. I could find no other manufacturer identifiers on the trunk. The leather handle on the trunk is stamped with the number 16. There is a capital letter“E” carefully painted on the top of the trunk as well. The trunk stands about 40.5 x inches tall. And approximately 21.5 inches in both of the other dimensions. The chest is black with what I would presume to be brass hardware on the exterior. The trunk is in very nice shape. The trunk is available for pickup only in Birmingham. Two for one deal. This is your change to own a very cool original 1920's era Wardrobe Steamer Trunk plus a real antique Opera style collapsible top hat. As described in condition case in good overall condition for being around 100 years old and is surprisingly complete. It even has the wooden hangers and removable suitcase. The top hat is a bit stained and has some wear and tear but is still a very cool piece. Note that the hat alone is probably worth about 150.00 While the top hat and trunk are not from the same estate I bought them close together at two separate sales. However you'll note that the trunk is marked"Martin" and at the same sale as the top hat I bought a small silver box from the same time period marked"M" so who knows? Still has the original paper label from the READING STEAMER TRUNK COMPANY, the makers of the trunk. Includes key that operates the lock correctly. But the lock latch bows outward from body of trunk. I haven't attempted to push the lock mechanism in to see if the lock latches the entire trunk, leaving that for the new owner to decide what to do. Side latches function correctly, securing the lid. All hardware appears to be intact and complete. Leather side handle straps are intact and secure, but they do have lots of surface cracking wear. Green and Black trunk with wood details. Dimensions are 31" L) x 17" W) x 13" H) Former owner's name has been stamped on the trunk lid and on the back of the trunk. The leather handle on one side is cracked and broken. On the other side it is missing. There is no key. There is one piece of metal hardware missing above the lock. There is a removable wood insert that rests in top of trunk. Exterior shows surface marks, scuffs, aged patina from use. Metal hardware has paint wear and some areas of surface rust where paint is worn off. Unique small travel chest. Not sure of the history of this but it is certainly a unique piece! It measures 18x10x10.5" Has a metal skin over wood construction. Metal corner guards protect it from drops and damage. It has some age to it and shows character! It has old travel stickers on it like they used to plaster on luggage back in the day. It has a Bassett lock that is locked. I dont have the key. It does not feel like anything is inside. Feels empty. I am leaving the lock intact versus breaking it open. If you are using it for display the lock does not matter anyway. Part of the fun might be sourcing a key and opening it up! The other two latches operate fine. Looks like it had two leather strap handles that are missing. A top edge guard is also missing. A 1920s Hartmann wardrobe trunk with a great Art Deco interior. It is in good condition overall. And the interior is in very good, clean condition. The canvas covers look perfect, and both covers snap properly. The drawer handles are a particularly nice Deco design. The exterior shows some wear and staining appropriate for its age, no major damage. I didn't try cleaning the Gibralterized shell, but it may clean up somewhat. All of the metal corners and hinges, and the tack reinforced edges are in good shape with no breaks. The lock has been removed but the hinge is intact, and ready for a new one. This measures 23 inches by 23 inches by 41 inches. Standing with the lid up the height is 4 feet.

A very large wardrobe trunk made over 100 years ago by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made and in virtually perfect condition. It is fitted with a fully equipped interior and oak slats and ball castors on the exterior. This fine heavy trunk is complete and fully functional. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made with the same or better quality workmanship as the expensive French names. It measures 46" x 23" x 25" Shipping from postal code 13066. Weight 125 lbs.

Antique German Travel Steamer Trunk Made by B. Marstaller München Up for auction is this antique travel steamer which was originally made by once well known German company B. Marstaller Munchen. Which is still in existence and have been in business since early 1900's The trunk closed. Measures 44" x 23" x 23" The exterior is is in good condition considering its age. view pics) All 3 latches adjoin and work properly. Both leather handles are broke but are still attached. There are many travel stickers affixed. One indicating this trunk traveled throughout Europe via the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth steamships. Nice antique cowhide leather suitcase measuring 26" X 13" X 7.5" This piece is in pretty decent shape for its age with a great patina on the leather. Perfect designer piece. Or use it yourself as it is still completely functional. Leather is imprinted with some numbers and"Authentic Cowhide Guaranteed" pictured) All of the brass latches work great. And you can snap the lock in the middle shut and open it without a key(no key is included) Handle is in nice shape as well as the hinges for opening and closing. One of the leather straps has broken off and is in the suitcase, if you want to try and restore it. The other strap is still intact, but is dry and brittle.
