C. late 19th to early 20th century Item# 1406HAJ17P Crafted with care and respect for the original form of a century prior. This highly attractive reproduction American Chippendale Highboy emulates closely after the Philadelphia work centers. Probably crafted during the last years of the 19th century, the entire case is crafted by hand with thick solid walnut planks for primary surfaces. All secondary woods are heavy solid planks of oak, poplar and chestnut. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the bottoms chamfered along the edges and set in grooves in the drawer frame. The brilliant brass batwing hardware is original to the case. The broken-arch pediment boasts robust carved rosettes set beneath a deep molding flanked by flame carved finials. Of the eleven drawers lining the facade, two are embellished with recessed shell carvings, the knees and apron likewise showcasing detailed shell forms. The entire case rests over cabriole legs terminating in trifid feet. This is an absolutely gorgeous reproduction for anyone passionate about the American Chippendale form. Remaining in an exceptional state of preservation. This is a piece that was built to last many lifetimes. Measurements: 82 1/2" total height(top is 51 1/2" high. There are 2 or 3 stones missing(one turquoise stone is inside for a replacement) The top of the box has 3 stones on each side of it so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way or if one stone is missing on each side. Regardless it does not detract from the box. Measurements are 9" long, 4 1/4" tall and 4 5/8" in width. Please email with questions and inspect all pictures. This item is sold as is.
