Additionally it is a Monocular Compound Achromatic Brass Microscope. The bottom of the body tube has two screw on and off lenses for adjustment of magnification. It features a bull's eye lens. The original Mahogony wood box, glass plates, and a period tweezer. It is 9" tall fully extended and has a 2 3/4" bottom diameter. I did clean up all the lens and provide a basic clean-up on the entire microscope with Windex only. Since it is unmarked. I was able to access a multitude of pictures and info concerning French Drum Microscopes, and I will share my research with you. I will provide four manufacturers' or instances of this type of microscope, to provide dating and provenance: 1. Charles Chevalier lived from 1804 to 1859. His 1848 microscope which can be found on Ebay. Is functionally similar to the instrument being offered, though not as sophisticated as far as features, and operational knob control. Since he worked through 1959, it was very possible that he added the features seen as he progressed from 1848 to 1959. 2. Construction No. 3 by Lerebours& Secretan. Ca1839-1855(designed and described by Lerebours alone in 1839 but not manufactured till 1855) Monocular Compound Achromatic Brass Microscope, height 10 1/5" Rack-and-pinion focusing, one bull's eye lens. It included a Mahogany wood box. This unit can be seen on the Internet and was valued at between $1,000- $2,000.00. 3. French Drum Microscope ca1865. Trade label of James Foster Jr. Mathematical& Philosophical Instrument Maker, Cinncinnati Ohio. This microscope can also be found on the Internet, and is is funtionally equivalent to the instrument being offered. You are bidding on a fine heavy vintage brass Bausch and Lomb microscope having a patent date of 1915. The company began in 1853 in Rochester. New York and became a leading manufacturer of high quality optical equipment. The microscope comes with the following: three objective lenses in 1.9 mm. 4 mm and 16 mm sizes revolving nosepiece two eyepieces: 5X and 10X blue glass disc dark ground stop metal cases for the three objectives 40-page Use and Care booklet by Edward Bausch. With diagrams and instructions original wooden case and case key The case has nice finger joint construction. A heavy duty metal handle, and two sliding removable drawers which hold additional equipment and parts. The microscope measures approximately 12.5 inches tall. 5.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches front to back. vtg Antique Ernst Leitz Brass Microscope w/ Case & Extra Lenses 1927 Works Fine
This is an old Ernst Leitz brass microscope that comes in a wooden case with three extra lenses. Pull-out lens and slide holders and an unopened box of newer O-I glass slides. Microscope made in 1927 and is in working condition- the kids were looking at pond water and could see all sorts of microscopic organisms in it. Very nice condition with no damage, the brass could use a polish if you want it to be shinier and it is missing one of the slide holders, but works fine with the one that it does have. Antique Vtg MYSTERY Brass Pressure Gauge Meter Specific GRAVITY Steam Whistle
Here is an interesting and unusual old brass scientific instrument or some sort of steam whistle perhaps. Originally from the estate of a collector of train. Ship and military items, I've had it for years and never had any idea what it was used for. It appears to be some sort of gauge to measure pressure possibly. The only markings I can find are the letters"sp.gr" on the ruler which I think is for Specific Gravity. There may be some missing components. Stands 18" high and has a few shallow dings. These rare pieces are circa early 1900's. Around the turn of the century. They each measure approximately 5 inches tall, the base measures approximately 10 inches by 6 3/4 inches. The bases are constructed of a very fine hardwood, and the panels are constructed of bakelite. These pieces remain in very good antique condition. This week we have this very Unique and extremely hard to find. Handsome antique/vintage(I believe this is a vintage reproduction) English Beatson Clark scientific lab/Botney set. The set is made with solid fittings and hardware. the set includes test tubes(note one is chipped at the pourer) and rack, beaker holder, slide holder dual adjustable mirrors(note one is missing, the other has tarnished) and candle holder glass stopper and magnify glasss. in the back is a large removable arm which holds two brass backed adjustable mirrors at the top(it is a little loose) one in which has a brass handle at back. these are connected to the long arm and has an adjustment knob to adjust the height as well. underneath is a wonderful solid brass candle holder which also has a height adjustment. the arms is held by an ornate mount that is connected to the ... morewooden box. It has a wonderful Beatson and Clark London brass logo on side. Beatson and Clark is a glass works company started in 1751 and still exists today making high quality bottles for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. This was possibly a promotional piece but what I do know is that it is very rare and hard to find. It would be a special conversation piece for the scientist to display in an office or home setting. Antique brass microscope lens rare vtg unique science artifact mechanical scope
This microscope lens is in very good shape besides the cosmetic wear. The item is disassemble-able. You can remove both lenses from either side. The peice is about 2 inches long. I have taken pictures of the item disassembled so you can see how old it really is. The smaller lens is actually a cube of solid glass, and the larger one is coin shaped. It doesn't work like a telescope, if you look through it, it will be blurry. Brass projector lens. Off an old magic lantern. Marked Bausch& Lomb& Kleine Optical Co. See fifth photo. Lens is a bit cloudy with dust/particles on the inside of the lens. I don't see any major scratches but likely there are some there. Adjusting wheel won't turn, I don't want to force it. Measures 4 1/4" long and the wider end measures 2 1/4" in diameter. Sold as found. Boxed shipping.

Bausch& Lomb Microscope w/ Leitz Wetzlar German Lens Vtg Science Lab 304637 is on the front of the barrel. That might be a serial number. The unit comes with what is shown. I’ve taken swell pictures that should answer many of your questions. If you have more questions ask. The machine moved fluidly. The lenses are free of fungus but do have dust on them. Also notice the slide clips are MIA.
