A unusual vintage antique style desktop magnifier on stand, steampunk ?
A very attractive and unusual antique style. But probabbly reasonably modern in date, small magnifying glass on a plated metal stand. The magnifier works well and provides quite a good degree of magnification. The arm folds and the lens itself can be turned to various angles. Making it ideal for reading at a desk, hobbies and so forth, whilst also looking good and leaving your hands free. The stand is weighted at the base and has a piece of green baize underneath. The piece is in very good vintage condition. With just some light dust to the lens and some light tarnish to the metal. There is one small dent to the side of the base. Although fairly modern in date. This certainly has the look and style of a antique piece and would be very at home in a steampunk style setting. Early 20th century magnifying glass with its own 3 legged stand- probably for carrying in the field for map reading or the examination of specimens perhaps. The glass screws up and down in its housing to provide focussing. Legs can unscrew and detach for ease of transporting. No apparent makers mark but is marked to the stand underside with X1X and 111(and corresponding marks to the top of the lens housing) Good overall useable condition- some wear and light tarnish commensurate with age. You are bidding on an antique brass magnifier which I believe was primarily used by stamp collectors. However. It can also be used for closely viewing jewelry, counting stitches, or perhaps simply as a unique desk accessory. It stands 6-3/4" tall when the arm is standing straight up, and it stands approximately 3" tall when the arm is at a 90 degree angle. There are very few signs of wear on the brass, the arm is fully adjustable and works perfectly, and the lens is undamaged. The lens is approximately 1-5/8" in diameter. It, too, is adjustable.
