The item up for sale in this auction is a Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. There is a patent date of February 2nd. 1897 on the micro focus adjustment wheel. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. I can't find any missing pieces and everything appears to be in really good working condition. The microscope will be shipped out in a wooden case along with a box of about a dozen glass slides. I don't think the case is original, but somebody obviously made it specifically for the microscope, so it should go with it. If you have any questions, ... moreI'll be happy to answer them. ANTIQUE BRASS J ZENTMAYER Monocular MICROSCOPE PAT DATED AUG 1876 HISTOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION Here is a beautiful antique brass J Zentmayer microscope with patent date Aug 1876. Everything is shown in the images. The base is marked with J Zentmayer and patent date see images. I do not know much about microscopes. So I will describe to the best of my ability. This is a beautiful antique microscope made by the well know Joseph Zentmayer. from the internet: He was born in Germany. In 1826, Zentmayer emigrated to the United States, as a young man, already trained in optics and instrument making. He went into business in 1853, in Philadelphia, making his first large stand, the Grand American) around 1858. Over several decades, Zentmayer turned out a great variety of stands, from the elaborate"American Centennial" to the smaller"American ... moreHistological" and, earlier, the"United States Army Hospital" stand. Zentmayer's business remained in Philadelphia until his death in 1888, and, was carried on by his sons into the mid-1890's. The microscope is monocular. I believe it is a histological scope and is missing the mirror assembly that attaches under the platform and lenses. The previous owner made this into a kaleidoscope of some sort, so when you look into it you see a kalaidoscope pattern, this fitting slips right out. The microscope makes a beautiful display and could be used for parts or possibly restore, so it is being sold as is. A beautiful microscope to add to your collection. See images and email any questions. Keep watching for more vintage and estate items being offered now and upcoming. Combined shipping is welcome. We continue to offer an interesting array of antiques and collectible items now and upcoming. Save us to your favorites. Keep watching. Our Promise: Accurate Description. For your consideration and from a recent local Kansas City estate is this cool 1920’s Spencer Lens Co. brass and cast microscope. It is serial No 4893 which dates production of this microscope to the first half of 1909. I am not an expert on microscopes so please ask questions before bidding! Both the knobs turn smoothly and the mirror is intact with no cracks. It is mainly solid brass construction. With the base and working platform being brass as well. I can see no damaged or missing parts. It has a beautiful aged patina. It comes in the original hardwood case with extra lenses. The key is also included.
