Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo, NY Brass and Cast Extra Lenses & Case NYU
Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo. NY Brass and Cast with Extra Lenses and Case from NYU? Great example of an early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo. NY that I recently picked up at an estate sale. Still has a great look to it. Came in a nice wood framed case that the outside material is worn or coming off of. Case is still all intact, with carrying handle, hinges, and door. No key comes with the case. Serial number of 69870 is on the microscope. Site I looked up on the internet says this piece is from 1920 to 1921. The 3 turret microscope has a 10 mag lens at top and then the 10x. 44x and 95x lenses at the bottom. There is also a 6X and 5X mag lens for the top of the microscope in the case. The three lower lenses were in their metal cases still in the box originally. The mirror below that seems to be intact as well. I do not see where ... moreany of the lenses on the microscope are visibly cracked or missing the glass lens, certainly are dirty, so you would be buying this piece as is. But certainly no expert in microscopes, so you are buying as is. Ask any questions or request any pictures of items that are important to you before buying this piece. There is also some sort of metal attachment for the scope that is in its' own little case and marked Spencer Lens Co. that has a latch on it. What is really unique about this piece is the horizontal and vertical measuring device that is on the plate the glass slides lay on. The measuring device slide moves side to side with the screw that moves it. The one that moves the other scale top to bottom either needs adjustment or the screw is stripped. On the bottom. The piece is marked LV and then NYU, so presume this piece was once used at New York University. Mirror on bottom reflector piece is still there on both sides, but shows a lot of wear and tear. The brass components on the scope still look pretty good. There is some corrosion/rust on the cast metal part of the microscope. Most notably on the rear top of the base. The main plate the glass slide would lay on ap

Microscope Made by E. Leitz Wetlzar (1902) with Wooden Case and extra lenses!
Microscope Made by E. Leitz Wetlzar w ith Wooden Case and extra lenses. German microscope from the early 20th century or earlier. Made by prestigious optic material manufacturer E. Leitz Wetlzar. This nice instrument comes in its original wooden case wi th extra l enses. The microscope is made of golden brass and silvery metal. The brass pieces show slight signs of wear due to the trace of time. The company that made this microscope. E. Leitz Wetzlar, was founded in 1849 by Karl Kellner in Wetzlar(Germany) In the beginning it manufactured mainly telescopes and was called Optical Institute of Wetlzar. When the firm started producing microscopes, Kellner hired engineer Ernst Leitz, who soon became a partner. In 1869 Leitz acquired the company and named it Ernst Leitz Optical Institute. The brand became one of the most important optical manufacturers ... morein the world and many of its models are still produced nowadays. This beautiful microscope is a good example of E. Leitz Wetzlar instruments’ quality. The case is a beautiful wood(think it is walnut) consruction with a brass handle- Plate on top is marked"Noyes Bros. Cutler St. Paul Minn" Case is 14inches tall(basic scope is just over 12inches tall and 4inches wide) 9inches deep and 7inches wide-overall very nice condition It is surely a striking piece for any nostalgic lover of scientific instruments from the early 20th centur y OR later 19th century-sorry I don't know more about this super colle ct ors piece. Just found- with help from a fellow EBAYER- due to the serial# the manufacture date was 1902 Marking s are as follow s: camera picked up some and not others Rear of the base is the(larger number) 73" On the right arm of the base is"E. Leitz Wetzlar" Filiale. NY" No 67641" There are 4 extra lenses- 3 with brass cases- 1 appears to be a eye piece-please see PIC's(what you see is what you get! SHIPS next day to the lucky winner- cost is to lower 48 US states-Others must contact seller for arrangements-THX! L

This is an old Ernst Leitz brass microscope that comes in a wooden case with three extra lenses. Pull-out lens and slide holders and an unopened box of newer O-I glass slides.
