Nice condition slide from the 1800's. Part of a set of 1.000 I bought.will be selling for months. This is one where you have to figure it out yourself. Little thicker than normal slide, nicely polished, and green goop around the edge of the black to seal it. I Have not seen the green before. The bubble is intact. Interesting slide without a label. I am a old school wholesaler dealer and scour GA and New England for the best to buy for my customers. I am also the founder of WorthPoint and would encourage all to visit it if you want to research antique prices.I focus on happy repeat customers and love what I do and try to ensure all customers are happy. I do not stay glued to my computer and have a real job so please do not expect instantaneous answers. Consider your source when buying. I have sold over 11.000 items on eBay and have 99.9% ... morepositive feedback. I charge GA sales tax to GA residents. I specialize in paper. Photos, coins and militaria. I sell about anything except reproductions. If it is not old, I say so. If there is a defect, I also say so. If you know more than me about something, that is OK, as I do not mind learning or being told that I am wrong and strive for accuracy. You can always learn more in this business. If I make a mistake, and we all do, I will take responsibility for it and you can return the item. If buying internationally. Tonight we have a RARE and ANTIQUE Circa 1800 Brass Folding Microscope/ Magnifier that would have been used by a Botanist or some one in the Entomology Field a couple Cenuries ago. The Single Lens Scope comes complete in it's ORIGINAL CASE, along with the pick/ spike that would hold the leaf or insect that was being studied. I can find no name on the scope to signify a maker; but the construction is excellent and the condition is the same- the Tea Stained handle is also great and free of any chips or cracks- It is also worth mentioning that it has a nice finial on the end of the handle. I have not tried to clean or polish the brass portion; keeping the wonderful patina it has attained over the years. The case is also in good solid condition; with ... morewear spots and a few chips to the outer portion as you would expect from a piece of scientific equipment that was used outdoors in the field. Don't miss out; these do not come along very often-especially when they are complete with the case and in this condition! Please look at all the pictures(SUPERSIZE) as they are an intricate part of this description; and email me with anything that you may need clarification on. I am by no means an expert; and I want to represent all items to the best of my abilities. If you have questions. Please cast them my way. ALL OF MY ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE OLD AND ORIGINAL UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE AUCTION. Thanks for looking at this auction and look for more great items to be coming in the very near future! I will always combine shipping whenever possible in order to save you money. GOOD LUCK!

Antique Microscopic Slide Cabinet, Circa 1800's
ANTIQUE MICROSCOPIC SLIDE CABINET. CIRCA 1800's Microscopic slide cabinets were a unique cabinet to catalog and store treasured slides for easy retrieval. The cabinet itself was designed to be a unique storage system that would be found in a nice library or laboratory environment. It would house microscopic slides that would be available for demonstration or a conversation piece for interested quests or colleagues. The cabinet was often constructed from heavy. Strong and durable wood, perhaps mahogany or cherry, many cabinets with ornate carvings and immaculate detail. Brass handles, locks and keys would often accent the cabinet. The drawers may have alabaster pulls to accent the cabinet finish and design. Often the drawer pulls may be carved wooden pulls that off set the wood finish. Some of the cabinets had velvet- lined drawers, which ... moreadded a delicate, sharp look for the microscope slides to rest on in the drawer itself. This wooden microscopic slide cabinet is a very heavy, well constructed cabinet, measuring 17 1/2" H x 17" W x 11 1/2" D. It has 29 drawers with carved wooden pulls, some are knob-like and a few that are pin-wheel shaped that were carved to replace the pulls that have been lost over time. Unique design. There is a working lock on the door of the cabinet with the key- see image. There is a large drawer in the base of the cabinet for storage of larger items- see image. The top of the cabinet has a brass decorative carrying handle- see image. The cabinet has a storage capacity of about 800 plus slides. The overall finish on the cabinet is in good condition and can be polished. The glass does not have any cracks. The slides in one of the images are placed in the drawer for demonstration and are not for sale. The buyer will need to be aware that this is a well-built but extremely HEAVY cabinet which will require some extra shipping charges. Which is estimated in the shipping section. A nice cabinet for some treasured slides!

Antique Brass Jones Type Botanical Microscope, ca. 1800
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE HE Offered for auction is a nice Jones type botanical microscope dating to ca. 1800. The original design of this fine single botanical microscope is attributed to W&S Jones. Although unsigned. It is identical in construction to those seen in"The Great Age of the Microscope" The Discoverers' Lens" and"The History of the Microscope" references. It features interchangeable button lenses which can be used individually or together sitting atop a square pillar with pin to oval base. Housed in it's original velvet lined Morocco red case with two early C-hooks, this microscope is in very good condition for the age. Please refer to the photos for details. The single botanical microscope assigned to William and Samuel Jones was originally described by George Adams Jr. as the"Common ... moreBotanical Microscope" in his Essays on the Microscope. The design. With the oval base and stacking lenses that could be used alone or combined together, became very popular towards the end of the 18th century. The model presented here has neither a substage mirror nor a hole to house it, indicating a simpler form of this concept hence dating to the very first years of the 19th century. Later instruments of this very same design were equipped with substage mirrors. References: Bracegirdle 2005(Science Museum London catalogue on CD) A601077. 1800's - Attractive Antique Brass Microscope Gould Type - Unsigned / Incomplete
Attractive antique brass field microscope with wood box. I believe it is in the style of Gould. Unmarked. I estimate this to be from the mid to late 1800’s. Please review the photos for a better sense of the condition; happy to send additional pictures. It is incomplete. But still includes a lot of the major pieces to make it for a very nice presentation piece; not sure what would have been originally included, but it is certainly missing the reflecting mirror and there appears to have been some kind of additional attachment to the stage. There is some loss of lacquer on the brass. But still shows nicely. Gears slides up and down fairly well with some slight looseness(teeth are intact) Box is in good condition with a good antique glow. But some of the inside dividers have come off and there appears to be some minor gluing at some point. Please ... moredo not hesitate to ask questions. I would be happy to ship internationally to most locations. But please confirm that I can ship to you specific location if outside Canada, US or the UK. I reserve the right to refuse any buyer with poor and/ or minimal feedback. As well as refuse a buyer that has prior to bidding not confirmed their location if outside Canada, US or UK.
