Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo. NY Brass and Cast with Extra Lenses and Case from NYU? Great example of an early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo. NY that I recently picked up at an estate sale. Still has a great look to it. Came in a nice wood framed case that the outside material is worn or coming off of. Case is still all intact, with carrying handle, hinges, and door. No key comes with the case. Serial number of 69870 is on the microscope. Site I looked up on the internet says this piece is from 1920 to 1921. The 3 turret microscope has a 10 mag lens at top and then the 10x. 44x and 95x lenses at the bottom. There is also a 6X and 5X mag lens for the top of the microscope in the case. The three lower lenses were in their metal cases still in the box originally. The mirror below that seems to be intact as well. I do not see where ... moreany of the lenses on the microscope are visibly cracked or missing the glass lens, certainly are dirty, so you would be buying this piece as is. But certainly no expert in microscopes, so you are buying as is. Ask any questions or request any pictures of items that are important to you before buying this piece. There is also some sort of metal attachment for the scope that is in its' own little case and marked Spencer Lens Co. that has a latch on it. What is really unique about this piece is the horizontal and vertical measuring device that is on the plate the glass slides lay on. The measuring device slide moves side to side with the screw that moves it. The one that moves the other scale top to bottom either needs adjustment or the screw is stripped. On the bottom. The piece is marked LV and then NYU, so presume this piece was once used at New York University. Mirror on bottom reflector piece is still there on both sides, but shows a lot of wear and tear. The brass components on the scope still look pretty good. There is some corrosion/rust on the cast metal part of the microscope. Most notably on the rear top of the base. Spencer Microscope from 1906! PAT DEC 11-1900 AUG 28 1906 Spencer Microscope Aloe Co. Sales Agents No 29740 The bottom of the case has a number 14 engraved on it. The original skeleton key is also included. The wooden case has a cherry finish and has a carry handle. The microscope is made of brass and cast iron. There are 3 black empty vials marked spencer objective sales agent-1.8mm.16mm& 4 mm There are 2 lenses 6x and 10x There are two racks that have places for these vials or lenses. only 2 lenses& 3 vials are left) Everything appears to be in working order but most likely it needs a good tune up& cleaning. This scope was handed down to my mother from her great grandfather. I cannot promise that every piece is intact as it is so old and I am not an expert. I am selling this scope as is. Both microscopes are marked Bausch& Lomb Optical Company and one of them has an additional marking“Chicago Lens and Instrument Company” with a Patent Date of Jan 5. 1915– this one appears complete and working. Antique Vintage Bausch & Lomb Cast Iron & Brass Microscope CU Colorado Biology
This is a very cool World War I era antique/vintage Bausch& Lomb microscope acquired from the University of Colorado. Boulder. Ocular, lenses, and body are label'Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, NY. This unit has a cast iron body and I believe the rest of it brass, though some of it has been enameled black. One of the lenses is labeled 170mm and the other 16mm. Light passes through the optics, but that is the extent of my testing. 93' is etched into the side of the ocular and stenciled onto the base. Table has a small crack on the side. Antique Brass Cast Iron Optical Device Williams Brown & Earle Philadelphia 1890s
This interesting antique brass and cast iron optical device is about 5 1/2" to 6" tall(or long) and it is attached to a 6" x 4 1/4" x 3/4" thick cast iron mounting base. It has metal clips to hold a slide and it can serve as a microscope when viewed vertically. The iron base has 2 channels through it that permit the scope to be mounted horizontally in front of a light source(magic lantern)and used as a lens to project the enlarged image onto a screen. The device is heavy(approx. 3 1/2 pounds)and well made and it is marked"Williams. Brown, and Earle- Philadelphia" on the side. There is some rust on the iron base and it has a patina of age but over all the piece is in good original condition and it still functions well the way it is supposed to. This is as found from a family estate. The optics are intact. But are dusty from storage. The brass is not polished, it is as found. The base is CAST IRON. The lens holder has thumb screws to tighten the samples in place. The only information I find is one of the sample arms says MADE IN GERMANY. The optics are INTACT. Vintage Old Antique Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo, NY U.S.A. Brass and Cast
Up for auction. Is a great example of a Vintage Antique early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo, NY, U.S.A. that I recently picked up. It has a wonderful patina, aged look to it. The serial number on this microscope is 67927. According to my research. That serial number places the Manufacturing date sometime between June 23, 1920 and May 23, 1921. This microscope is even OLDER than one that just recently sold for about $400. Both of the brass knobs turn and the mirror is intact. With"no cracks" It could use a cleaning if you prefer the polished look, but I know some collectors prefer the aged natural look, so it has been left untouched. I am no expert in microscopes. This listing is for a vintage Bausch& Lomb brass and cast school microscope. The patent date is Feb. 16. 1897. This piece came out of an old school that has been torn down. There are 3 lenses. there is a 16mm- 0.26 lens. a 4mm-0.65. and the top lens is a#10. There are 5 glass slides and several glass slide covers in the drawer of the case. The microscope measures about 13 1/4" fully extended. There are spots on the brass finish. There are scuffs and scratches from use over the years. There is a chip in the glass on the#10 lens. The lenses need cleaned. I did not attempt to clean the microscope parts.I will leave that to the experts. This is a nice collectible piece. Thanks for looking!

Nice Graf Apsco binocular microscope. It has 4 objective lenses. And 2 wide field 10x eyepieces. It had a lamp attachment that is broken off, but either a standard microscope light or mirror will work, or someone might be able to repair it. The finish is in great shape, and it functions like it should. The focus' and the slide movements are smooth and tight.

VINTAGE SPENCER BRASS & CAST 3 LENS MICROSCOPE with WOODEN CASE
A really nice Spencer microscope in brass and cast black painted metal. This piece has three lenses along with swing out underside style lens. In good condition with some wear from use. A stain to the brass on the right side by the platform. Top of the under lens has some corrision to the metal. The base has some loss to it's black paint. The microscope has all of it's parts working and functional. The eyepiece is 10x. Comes with a wooden case with key. The top of the case is marked- E. Leitz N.Y. The case measures 13 1/4" tall. 6 1/2" wide and 7 1/2" deep. A fine looking old microscope.

Antique 19th Century French Microscope Brass & Cast iron w. orig box
Here is a great antique French microscope with original box in much better than average condition. Measures 8 1/2 inches in when retracted. Made of brass and cast iron. Original gold paint on base. Optics are clear. Reflector is foggy. Brass has nearly all of the original lacquer on it. Knob retracts it fine and the top lense is removable. Box is in fine condition, beautiful wood, missing one wood spacer as shown. All seams tight. Box has a name I am guess was the original owner and what looks like a retailer stamp on the bottom. Box measures 9 1/2 by 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. Superb example of a mid 19th Century Microscope. Guranteed original for ever. Thanks for looking. Payment to be remitted within 4 days.

This Spencer Lens Co. 1900 Microscope has a Brass Body and a Cast Iron Base. The only large part that is magnetic is the base. The eye piece is 8X. And the bottom lens is a Bausch& Lomb 2/3 Series 1, 25 NA. The Patent was given on December 11, 1900 with the date that the Microscope was made was August 28, 1906. The microscope is about 11 5/8" in height. The base is about 5 7/8" deep with the width of about 4 3/16" I found this microscope at an estate of a Dr. from Illinois. But I'm not an expert on old microscopes, so it is being sold"as is" with no returns(and no reserve and no buy it now. The stand has some chips in the finish, with the most noticeable ones being on the"neck" see last photo. Also, the table has a crack on the corner(photo#9) and one of the slide clips has minor plate wear near the screw. The three lenses that come with the scope are 1mm, 4mm& 16mm(all three are marked Bausch& Lomb Optical Co.
