Striking Binocular Microscope By Swift & Son. England, Circa 1880.
Striking Binocular Microscope Swift& Son. England. Circa 1880. With Wooden Case and Accessories This wonderful antique microscope is a scientific jewel. Quite good looking and completely functional. It is in great condition, with the brass pieces still preserving the transparent lacquer that protects the metal and the iron keeping almost all its black-enameled finish. The microscope comes in its original mahogany case with brass handle and hinges that also keeps the lock and key in perfect condition. The instrument comes with an impressive set of well-preserved original accessories that can still be used with it just like when they were originally made. The rest of the eyepieces bear inscriptions about their features, magnification and the oil immersion treatment they have been subjected to in order to increase the microscope’s resolution. At the microscope’s foot we can see the inscription J: SWIFT& SON– LONDON engraved in the black-enameled metal and enhanced with white paint. This inscription is related to James Powell Swiff. Who founded a microscope business in London in 1853. In 1877 he started using the market name J. Swift& Son. As stated before. The microscope and the accessories come into a beautiful solid mahogany case in great condition that preserves the original key. This key is engraved with an address: 130 QUEEN VICTORIA– LONDON. JOHN W. SIDLE #194 ACME - Antique BINOCULAR Microscope – 1880’s – Brass & Copper
ANTIQUE BINOCULAR MICROSCOPE* Engraved Signature on the Brass Base: John W. Sidle. Lancaster. Pa. ACME Wm Stanley Jr#194 Objective Reads: E. Gundlach* Estimated Early 1880’s* Stands about 15 to 17 inches high. Depending on the position of the scope* Please read the description in full. Review all photos and ask all questions prior to bidding. Happy to provide addition photos if requested. This is an antique. Which I estimate as being from about 1880(130+ years old) so there is some wear commensurate with age. I have provided key conditional notes based on my review of the visuals and mechanics. According to this extract from the American Artifacts Website: Sidle began making microscopes. First in partnership with Poalk, in Philadelphia, and then as"John W. Sidle& Co, Lancaster PA" His several models of 1880 were called the"Acme" ... moreand some of his ads referred to the"Acme Optical Works" Lancaster, PA. In 1881, James W. Queen& Co. took over the marketing of Sidle's Acme microscopes, which they continued to sell into the 20th century. I am very pleased to offer this attractive antique binocular microscope. A fantastic presentation piece. This appears to be the Binocular(Double Tube/ Scope) version of the ACME No. 3 Microscope produced by Sidle in the early 1880’s(see last photo) As might be expected. This is not in perfect, 100 percent complete condition, but still a great, very attractive piece of scientific history. I have tried my best to thoroughly identify any issues/ notes based on a comparison of the monocular version found online and my visual review. I am passionate about antique microscopes and enjoy hanging onto them briefly as a hobby/ admirer. But I am not able to yet call myself an expert so, again, please review as well and do not hesitate to ask questions: 1. No box or other accessories included beyond shown in the photos. 2. Beautiful combination of what look to be brass(majority) and copper(accents– knobs. Joint, swinging mirror gauge, objective cuffi

LARGE BEST* BINOCULAR MICROSCOPE R& J BECK 31 CORNHILL LONDON#6222 Up for auction is a spectacular Victorian era Binocular Microscope dated to around or possibly before c1875 and made with precision craftsmanship by R& J. Beck of 31 Cornhill. London- Serial# 6222. This was the top-of-the-line model produced by the firm at the time. R& J. Becks' names, address, and serial number are engraved on one of feet on the tripod base(shown in photo) The microscope is constructed in solid brass with a bright lacquered finish. It looks to be complete and in good working order. All mechanical movements are working well that I know of and when looking through the eye pieces, I see various levels of brightness of light when moving the mirror. I am obviously not very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the piece) The original surface ... morefinish show minor wear in spots and especially on the stage plate. The mirror on both sides show crazing and dirt, but reflects light as it should. There is no major damage on the brass. It has a little dirt in some of the cracks and crevasses, but a good cleaning will really bring out the beauty! I don't want to clean it. It should be cleaned professionally as it could be damaged. Please look at the photos very carefully and ask questions- I will try my best to answer anything and will add additional photos if there is anything that I didn't already capture. Although there is no box or accessories included, there is an extra 2" lens attached. 1950's - 60's Large Leitz Wetzlar Binocular Microscope with Electric Torch
Leitz Binocular Microscope with Electric Torch. Made in the 1950-60s. In Good Condition and Perfect Working Order Binocular microscope with electric torch made in the 1950-60s. In very good condition and working correctly. This instrument is a high quality article that was manufactured by the prestigious company Leitz Wetzlar and has survived to our days in optimal condition. The microscope is made of black-enameled metal; the finish looks regular and shiny and turns this instrument into a very decorative and functional piece. As stated before, the microscope comes with an electric torch designed to provide light from below the sample plate when watching the samples. This piece comes with its original transformer and works perfectly. Leitz microscopes are famous for their precisión and great performance. The company’s history started ... morewhen Karl Kellner founded the Optical Institute in Wetzlar(Germany) to manufacture optic material. Especially telescopes. In a few years microscopes took over as the main product. In 1865 Kellner hired Ernst Leitz, who in 1869 took over the company and renamed it Optical Institute of Leitz, Wetzlar. We can see the brand name in different parts of this microscope: in the eyepiece, under the sample plate and in the information plate screwed to the transformer. The instrument has a four-lens revolving nosepiece. The lenses bear all the company’s name and the magnification number engraved in the metal. Both the eyepiece and the revolving nosepiece can be dismantled in order to comfortably store and carry the microscope. The torch has a hammered black-enameled finish and its wires and connections are in good condition. On the other hand. The transformer that comes with it shows a metal plate with information about the voltage, the manufacturer’s name and city(Leitz, Wetlzar) and the serial number: 50056. This Leitz microscope is a charming and 100% original piece. Whose precision and reliability are still exceptional. Measurements: Width: 7.8 in/20 cm. Height: 14.7 in/36 cm. I think

Braham Brothers Bath England 1800's Binocular Microscope in case w/ attachments
As most of you know. I have been selling many rare slides over the past months. I will sell the remaining slides and cabinets between now and the end of the year. Hopefully sooner then later as I have to make time and room for a significant military collection I am selling. This is the microscope that came with the slides. It is rare to the point that I could not find one to price it from. I suspect it is from the mid 1800's and comes from an optical device maker in Bath England called"Braham Brothers" The microscope is marked as such as are the 3 containers for the lenses. The door of the case has shrunk with time so the lock will not reach although the key works. This is normal. The door has a very small warp from shrinkage. The case is dovetailed and made of an unusual mahogany. I could not see any defects, the microscope ... moreis about 15" high. email me with any questions. I am a old school wholesaler dealer and scour GA and New England for the best to buy for my customers. I am also the founder of WorthPoint and would encourage all to visit it if you want to research antique prices. I focus on happy repeat customers and love what I do and try to ensure all customers are happy. I do not stay glued to my computer and have a real job so please do not expect instantaneous answers. Consider your source when buying. I have sold over 11.000 items on eBay and have 99.9% positive feedback. I charge GA sales tax to GA residents. I specialize in paper. Photos, coins and militaria. I sell about anything except reproductions. If it is not old, I say so. If there is a defect, I also say so. If you know more than me about something, that is OK, as I do not mind learning or being told that I am wrong and strive for accuracy. You can always learn more in this business. If I make a mistake, and we all do, I will take responsibility for it and you can return the item. If buying internationally. Striking Smith Beck & Beck Binocular Microscope in Good Condition. England, 1860
Striking Binocular Microscope Smith Beck& Beck in Good Condition. England. 1860 Fine binocular microscope made 1860. Quite well preserved and working right. This instrument was manufactured in England and has survived to our days in good condition. It comes in its original case, made of solid mahogany wood and also well preserved. Most of the microscope’s component parts are made of polished brass, and a few are made of black iron. The instrument mounts a three-lens revolving nosepiece and comes with some accessories that are stored in their corresponding compartments, inside the wooden box. At the foot of the microscope we find the embossed manufacturer’s name: SMITH. BECK& BECK– LONDON. We can also see the serial number 1454 engraved into a golden oval shape. The manufacturing firm was founded by James Smith, who was actually fired ... moreby Joseph Jackson Lister(a famous designer of object lens systems) to make good quality stands for his developments. In 1841 and thanks to Lister’s help, Smith had already had a business of his own in London. In 1847 Richard Beck, a nephew of Lister’s, was sent as an apprentice to Smith’s factory and the firm started to be called Smith& Beck. Later, Beck’s brother(Joseph) joined them and the firm changed its name for Smith, Beck& Beck. This particular microscope was manufactured in those times. In spite of being around 150 years old. The microscope looks great. The brass shows the logical though subtle signs of the trace of time; these details provide the piece with personality. This instrument can also be folded in order to be put away into the wooden case, in its own compartment. The case is also in good condition and preserves the original handle and shutting hooks. Inside the lid there is a label with the name of an English scientific material maker, H. CARTER BOWLES. Any lover of scientific antiques will appreciate this rare binocular microscope’s beauty and functionality. Measurements: Width: 7.4 in/19 cm. Height: 12.9 in/33 cm. I think I left nothing in the des

Antique SPENCER MICROSCOPE with fitted case BINOCULAR tilting with SWING ARM
Here is and antique and rare SPENCER BINOCULAR swing arm DISSECTING MICROSCOPE with a fitted mahogany case. The microscope is an incredible piece from the early time in microscope history. It has that steampunk look to it. The arm allows you to swing out the head to see objects that may be too large to place on the stage. The main body tilts back to allow more light to fall onto the object under observation. It appears to be made of cast iron because it's heavy. But part may be brass. The whole microscope is covered in black enamel. There is a wheel under the stage that can use filters and it turns like it should. It contains a single white disk. There are two set of ocular or eyepiece lenses. One set is 5x and the other set is 10x. That's a total of 4 lenses. The case is just as beautiful as the microscope. It is made out of mahogany. ... moreWith a very strong and attractive angled box joint(also called a finger joint) The original lock and key are in perfect working condition, and the original handle is there. Inside the case, there are two sliding wood trays to allow you to store the eyepieces, and there's another sliding box that fits on the inside of the case. I don't know enough about this microscope to say what's missing or not working. I can tell you that there is wear and missing enamel paint because it is an antique. The focus knob works smoothly. The horseshoe base tilts as it should, the circular wheel under the stage turns normally, and the eyepieces are removable. Please use the pictures for a detailed condition description. I would be happy to provide any additional photos or answer questions. It dates to 1895 to 1935. Marked"Spencer Buffalo USA 52271" see closeup photo) Measures: 12" tall and 6" wide(adjustable arm extends farther) The wood box is 14-1/2" high by 9" wide and 9-1/2" deep. Antique Bausch & Lomb Binocular Research Microscope w/Wooden Case and Lenses
This auction is for a Antique Bausch& Lomb Binocular Research Microscope w/Wooden Case and Lenses. Scope is in decent condition with the sort of aging and wear one would expect from something like this. I have no idea how old it is although this model looks older than other similar microscopes I've seen on eBay and online. I don't think it's missing anything but I have no idea if it might be. It looks like there are 4 sets of lenses here at different magnifications and it looks like the mirror is intact. The box seems like it is in decent shape and it has a metal badge on top that has a lab stock number probably was used in a working research situation. Seems like a nice resto project for someone who admires antique microscopes. Low start price. Please check out my other auctions on eBay for more neat stuff.
