Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo. NY Brass and Cast with Extra Lenses and Case from NYU? Great example of an early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo. NY that I recently picked up at an estate sale. Still has a great look to it. Came in a nice wood framed case that the outside material is worn or coming off of. Case is still all intact, with carrying handle, hinges, and door. No key comes with the case. Serial number of 69870 is on the microscope. Site I looked up on the internet says this piece is from 1920 to 1921. The 3 turret microscope has a 10 mag lens at top and then the 10x. 44x and 95x lenses at the bottom. There is also a 6X and 5X mag lens for the top of the microscope in the case. The three lower lenses were in their metal cases still in the box originally. The mirror below that seems to be intact as well. I do not see where ... moreany of the lenses on the microscope are visibly cracked or missing the glass lens, certainly are dirty, so you would be buying this piece as is. But certainly no expert in microscopes, so you are buying as is. Ask any questions or request any pictures of items that are important to you before buying this piece. There is also some sort of metal attachment for the scope that is in its' own little case and marked Spencer Lens Co. that has a latch on it. What is really unique about this piece is the horizontal and vertical measuring device that is on the plate the glass slides lay on. The measuring device slide moves side to side with the screw that moves it. The one that moves the other scale top to bottom either needs adjustment or the screw is stripped. On the bottom. The piece is marked LV and then NYU, so presume this piece was once used at New York University. Mirror on bottom reflector piece is still there on both sides, but shows a lot of wear and tear. The brass components on the scope still look pretty good. There is some corrosion/rust on the cast metal part of the microscope. Most notably on the rear top of the base. Spencer Microscope from 1906! PAT DEC 11-1900 AUG 28 1906 Spencer Microscope Aloe Co. Sales Agents No 29740 The bottom of the case has a number 14 engraved on it. The original skeleton key is also included. The wooden case has a cherry finish and has a carry handle. The microscope is made of brass and cast iron. There are 3 black empty vials marked spencer objective sales agent-1.8mm.16mm& 4 mm There are 2 lenses 6x and 10x There are two racks that have places for these vials or lenses. only 2 lenses& 3 vials are left) Everything appears to be in working order but most likely it needs a good tune up& cleaning. Antique Brass and Metal Spencer Microscope with Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Attachment and Spencer Illuminator Serial No 24832 All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great older brass microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. There were 10 microscopes recently at a high end auction that appeared to be from someone's collection or a high end store that dealt in them. I acquired 6 of them. Here is another one of them. The other microscopes will be made available for sale separately at my eBay store over the next few days as well. The microscope scope and the lens and objective case and dials are made of brass. There is some corrosion to the brass and painted surfaces in places. The black painted part of the microscope stand is some sort of other metal. There is a 6x and 10x ... moreeye lens with the scope. Also a 3x with the scope that is not the right diameter. There are no date. The serial number of 24832 on the microscope would make it as having been produced around 1914 to 1915. There is also a Spencer illuminator with the microscope that has a great vintage power cord on it. The illuminator lights up when plugged in. There is a clear and blue lens inside. The reflector is still behind the bulb. The microscope also has some sort of brass Ernst Leitz Wetzlar attachment on it for moving the specimen around both horizontally and vertically on the observation plate. This is a really nice attachment and in very nice condition. The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirrored surface does show some wear. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 12.25" tall. By 6" across, by 6.75" wide. Nice what appears to be the original wood case, missing the original wood drawers. Case is intact, still has its' lock, no key. The objectives are a 1.8mm, a 4mm and a 6mm. Handle

Brass Microscope by Spencer Lens Company- circa 1895 SN# 1704 The first microscopes bearing name Spencer Lens Company were produced in 1895. This microscope is serial number 1704 out of the original 3.000 to 4,000 models produced that year. This particular model is an all brass continental design with an extendable nickel plated draw tube. A horse shoe foot, and a single vertically positioned fine focus dial with engraved graduations. The original lacquer has worn off and the brass finish shows wear in accordance with it's age. The lenses and eyepiece still work but the mirror is missing. Mirrors from some of my other antique microscopes including an early 1900's Bausch& lomb jug handle and circa 1907 spencer will fit onto this microscope relatively well but I do not have a spare to sell along with this particular item. I don't know much about this microscope. It is a Spencer buffalo. It has 10x. 6x eye pieces. 1.8, 4, 16 MM objectives. SN 39826. I tried to take enough pics so you could see the condition of everything. As far as I can tell everything is in good working condition except for as you can see in the pics, the upper shutter type thing on the condenser is rusty. It comes in the original wood case. I don't have the key for it.

Spencer Lens Company Brass Antique Microscope. Buffalo NY, serial number 9538. I am out of my area of expertise but I did a little research and found that Spencer Lens Company microscopes with serial numbers up to 10.000 had an approximate date of shipment of June of 1909. That would make this microscope 105 years old or older. The microscope has two objective lenses. One is marked 4mm NA066. The other is marked 16mm NAP.0.25. Both are marked Spencer Lens Co. The microscope seems to work and be in good condition for its age. When you look through the microscope you can see a couple small crooked lines. I don't know if these are cracks or dirt. The finish is worn. I do not understand why Brass has a brass finish. There are no case or other attachments. If you have any questions I will try to answer them. Up for auction. Is a great example of a Vintage Antique early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo, NY, U.S.A. that I recently picked up. It has a wonderful patina, aged look to it. The serial number on this microscope is 67927. According to my research. That serial number places the Manufacturing date sometime between June 23, 1920 and May 23, 1921. The black portion of the microscope and the base are made of some other type of metal. There are 6x, 8x, and 10x eye lenses included. The serial number of this microscope is#5030 which seems to be extremely low which would make the production early. It is marked with a patent date of“Dec. 11, 1900” The mirror at the bottom is two sided. It measures 12 ¼” tall x 6” x 4 ¼” It comes in the original wooden case with brass accessories as shown. A really nice Spencer microscope in brass and cast black painted metal. This piece has three lenses along with swing out underside style lens. In good condition with some wear from use. A stain to the brass on the right side by the platform. Top of the under lens has some corrision to the metal. The base has some loss to it's black paint. The microscope has all of it's parts working and functional. The eyepiece is 10x. Comes with a wooden case with key. The top of the case is marked- E. Leitz N.Y. This Spencer Lens Co. 1900 Microscope has a Brass Body and a Cast Iron Base. The only large part that is magnetic is the base. The eye piece is 8X. And the bottom lens is a Bausch& Lomb 2/3 Series 1, 25 NA. The Patent was given on December 11, 1900 with the date that the Microscope was made was August 28, 1906. The microscope is about 11 5/8" in height. The base is about 5 7/8" deep with the width of about 4 3/16" I found this microscope at an estate of a Dr. from Illinois. It comes with a very tall beautiful GLASS VESSEL(Bell Jar) enclosure that envelopes the microscope.
