ANTIQUE BRASS DOUBLE PILLAR MICROSCOPE– THE“LIBRARY MICROSCOPE” WITH CAMERA L UCIDA& DOVETAILED WOOD CASE- CIRCA ... more1886 You are invited to purchase an antique double pillar lacquered brass and black lacquered metal compound microscope called the“Library Microscope” along with a very nice dovetailed wood case that houses the instrument. The Bausch& Lomb Optical Company of Rochester. New York manufactured this microscope for the Philadelphia based scientific supply company of James W. Queen& Co. Due to the fact that Queen& Co. was the distributor of the instrument. The microscope is signed in block letters on the rear of the stage, JAS. W. QUEEN& CO. PHILADELPHIA” see close-up images) The fact that Bausch& Lomb was the manufacturer is indicated on the underside of the tripod foot with just the initials. B&L” along with a number“7” and also a larger number“20. It is unclear if either or both of these numbers are serial numbers or simply part numbers(see images) It is estimated that this instrument was most likely manufactured in circa 1886. Bausch& Lomb first introduced this model microscope in the year 1878. Just a few years after Ernst Gundlach joined the company as its chief optician and optical designer. This model microscope first appeared in Bausch& Lomb’s 1

Please read ALL of the text and view the pictures carefully. We will gladly answer any questions as best we can. Please ask questions before you bid or buy. Please scroll to the bottom of the pictures and read the terms under our last picture. I am far from an expert on these but will do my best to describe it for you. Questions encouraged.I do not see any cracked lenses and the mirror is not cracked on either side. All lenses are clear but one has a hair or something inside of it which I think you can see in the pictures. All of the knobs work smoothly. The paint is worn where you would place the slide and it looks rusty but it may be the base coat of paint as the finish is nice and smooth. It comes with the extra lenses as shown. I have taken close ups of any numbers or markings I could find. The numbers on the top of the microscope which ... moreI assume are the serial numbers are 241681. The black paint is scuffed on the bottom of the back of the base and it could use some polishing/cleaning in my opinion. The wooden finger jointed case is in nice shape with just a scuff on the one side and the original nickel handle remains on the top. The door has a lock but I do not have the key. Have a look at the pictures and please feel free to ask questions. Thank you for viewing. We have many other listings so please click the link to view them. Vintage SPI Microscope& Wood Case/Cabinet& All Contents! Very Unique! All the items going up for auction came from Estate Sales. Yard Sales, or Auctions. Most. I do not know their history, but will share my impressions with you when it seems appropriate. All must be assumed used, and not p erfect. Some might could use a cleaning. Or adjustments, but I will leave that part for you. For your consideration is this very neat vintage SPI Microscope Model 1835 encased in its own seven drawer wood cabinet. Starting with the cabinet. Made with finger joints, steel carrying handle, a microscope compartment, and seven drawers. The cabinet is well made and surprisingly clean for its age. Contents; About 20 Glass Slides, 6 Prepared Slides(Japan) 2 Spare Bulbs, Glass Eyedropper, Sealed Case of Slide Holders, additional slide attachment, 10x Lens, ... more20x Lens, Knife, Tweezers, Paddle Instrument, Needle Instrument, 110V Power Supply, Three Wax Sealed Prepared Liquids(Japan) I know nothing about them, but it appears to be a real nice microscope. All seem quite exceptional to me with the following exceptions. One of the prepared liquids has hardened, the power supply jack seems a bit of a loose fit, the shape of the battery holders seems a bit odd and I did not have matching batteries on hand to test the light. M easures about 15" Wide x 10.75" High x 8" Deep. S hipping includes Delivery Confirmation. Please look the pictures over carefully. As what is acceptable for me, may not work for you. An antique"Argus Nr. 606" Brass Microscope. 6 3/4" high, made in Germany and housed in its original wood box, 2 3/4" x 8 9/16" x 2 1/2" high, with original hook closures. There's a paper label inside the box with some information but I don't see any maker's mark on the Microscope. GERMANY" is impressed into the 2" diameter iron base. The top section can be adjusted up and down and can also be removed from the bottom section. Condition. In good condition overall. I didn't polish the brass but left it as found. The surface of the adjustable mirror is in good condition with some oxidation across the middle section that doesn't seem to interfere with reflecting light into the Microscope. The top and bottom glass lenses are in good condition with no scratches. There is an old short closed ... morecrack in the bottom section of the brass band above the section that holds the slide that can be seen in one of the side view photos of the Microscope(as the Microscope front faces to the right) This part doesn't hold the top section in place so it doesn't affect the use of the Microscope in any way. There are NO slides with this Microscope although there is space for 4 slides in the box. Shipping weight of carefully wrapped package. 3 pounds Buyer pays shipping. I usually ship the day after I receive the email from PayPal confirming your payment to PayPal. If I receive the confirmation email from PayPal on a Friday or a weekend I ship the following Monday. If payment is made by check I ship the day after your check clears my bank. Usually about 5 days after I receive it. I will send an invoice to the winning bidder soon after the close of the auction. California residents without a valid CA resale number pay 8.25% tax on the winning bid. I prefer PayPal for payment but I also accept checks(see shipping info. above) I expect payment within 4 days of my invoice. If you have any questions. Please ask before bidding. Thanks.
Antique Small Microscope in Wood Case No Makers Mark(German. Late 1800s) Note: All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great piece for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Interesting piece. In both the way it is made, the size and the case it came in. The microscope has a black painted metal base, specimen plate, and stand. The scope and adjusting screw are brass. The case has a label on it that says the piece is circa 1920. A label on the bottom of the scope says"German" on it. Another piece of paper that came with it attributed the scope to being German and from around 1870. You be the judge of how old this piece is and where it was made prior to buying it. The one sided mirror looks intact. The lens in the eye end and the other end appear to be there. Cannot speak ... moreto their condition as not an expert of microscopes. I see no makers mark on the scope. But it definitely seems to have some age to it. The case is made of wood. The latch and screw hooks are still on the case. Hinges still there and working. The case is 2.75 tall, by 8-1/16" across, by 3.75" wide. The case corner are doweled together. The case seems to be appropriate for the scope. The microscope is 7.25" tall. By 2.25" across, by 3`" wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Don’t be shy to make an offer. I am always open to reasonable suggestions. Also, if you purchase this piece at the Buy It Now price, we are offering free shipping within the continental USA. Antique Brass Microscope Double Pillar Design Dual Power Magnification This microscope was likely made in France around the year 1875. This is based on information and photos posted on the internet. I am not an expert in this field and cannot guarantee the age or country of manufacture of this piece. Two powers of magnification are available. Unscrewing the outer objective lens provides lower power viewing. It is in very good working order. Although lenses might benefit from some cleaning. I have not detected any damage to the optics. It has a double sided mirror illuminator with the concave side being damaged(see photos) The flat mirror is excellent. The multiple aperture diaphragm under the stage is in very good condition. Other than some blemishes on the finish, I am not aware of any significant defects. Please examine photos. Height is ... moreapprox 10 inches. Beautiful brass construction. Base is cast iron with green/brass lacquered finish. 40" is stamped into the yoke holding the main tube(see photo) 11" is stamped in the corner of the bottom of the stage(see photo) Unique extension arm for magnifier. Case appears original. The top and bottom boards have some splits from drying out and there are some small paint splotches on the finish. Please refer to photos of the case. The piece inside the case that supports the neck of the microscope is loose. But is present. All latches and hinges are in good order. This piece is offered as you see it and as I have described to the best of my limited ability. Please examine the photos carefully. Contact me through eBay with any questions that you may have. I will be very happy to respond. Satisfaction is guaranteed

Unique, Retro, Vintage, Antique, etc. They are usually old pieces or even new items in original boxes which could show little or substantial shelf wear. With the multitude of items I find, many may have minor imperfections, e.g. bubbles in blown glass, light wear, small flaws, Artist’s molds, marks, flares, discrepancies in patterns and cuts. There are instances that some of these imperfections are done intentionally by the Artist. I do not point out these flaws or imperfections unless the quality of the item is affected. Numerous items need the Patina unaltered, so I do not clean it. Otherwise I do dust or sometimes clean the item. Untitled Document Description This is an Oberhaeuser style French drum microscope made of brass. Originally manufactured for use in field hospitals from 1870 till 1910. Fully open it measures about 9 1/2" and closed it measures 7 5/8"L x 1 3/4" D. To provide fine focus there is a light tuning attached wheel mechanism found on the right side of the instrument under the plate stage(it is the coin looking dial) There are multiple sized openings on this dial to adjust the light source needed from pin point to a broader spectrum. This tuning wheel is what makes it a working Doctors field microscope. And not a simple student version. Also included is an extra wood encased objective lens. This“wooden” portable travel lens is period correct to have been invented by Benjamin Martin(who first made microscopes of cardboard. Wood, and ... moresometimes with leather in 1730-1750) This extra lens would have given the doctor a better look at any given tissue sample. It is in fair condition and shows signs of field use with surface scratches. For magnification move the body tube up or down within the brass sleeve. Once set up. A single brass milled head keeps it securely in place. The eyepiece and the objective lens are in fair condition. The magnifying lenses have some surface scratches. But no cracks. I do not find any makers makers on this microscope or the wood objective lens. In the base is a concave mirror that provides illumination. A single brass milled head controls the mirror. The mirror reflects nicely. But could use a good polishing. The microscope itself is in beautiful condition with what I would consider signs of normal use and a tarnished patina on the inner tube. These surface blemishes do not take away from the usefulness or desirability of the piece and most likely will disappear if professionally cleaned. This microscope comes in its original wood case and appears to be made of mahogany or rosewood. 8 1/4"L x 2 1/2" W x 2 1/4 H. The case has a sizable crack running nearly the length of the li
Photo gallery. Click to enlarge. DETAILS Antique Microscope Brass& Cast Iron in Dove Tail Wood Case with Slides& Extras This listing is for an antique microscope in a beautiful wooden case. This piece is not marked anywhere. So we're not certain who made it or when, but based on the materials used and the style, we're guessing this dates back to the early 1900's. This microscope features a cast iron base, brass upper and a cast aluminum center section. The microscope has one adjustable eye piece, a rotating dial that lets in differing amounts of light and and adjustable magnifying glass on the bottom. It comes in a beautiful wooden case(possibly mahogany) that has dovetail joint construction and is really nicely built. The case has two drawers that are packed with glass slides, an extra eye piece, glycerin for setting ... morethe slides and some tools. This is a great set that would look amazing as a piece of decor, or would be a great addition to any vintage medical instrument collection! Condition: This piece is antique and used with some wear. The microscope is hard to focus. But appears to be working as intended. It may need some slight adjustments to work perfectly, but we see magnified, lighted images when we can get it to focus a little. There is light wear to the housing with some light tarnishing on the brass. The case is in good condition, but the two drawers in the case appear to be replacements and not original. Please look closely at the photos for condition details and ask us any questions before bidding. Dimensions: The microscope itself measures 4-1/4" x 10-1/2" x 5" and the case measures 5-1/2" x 11-1/2" x 5" PLEASE NOTE- WE SHIP FEDEX WED-FRI. I know little about this scientific equipment. Stored in a local home for years. I would say circa 1930s era. Maybe earlier with later fixtures. No. 282859, Germany, Overall height is 12.5 inches. Has three lens head, one is marked Bausch& Lomb, another marked SPI? PSI? This one has an electric lamp fixture, side mounted. Including electric power corded transformer and plugs. NOTE the Transformator made in Germany has bad cord. Cord has cracked and dry rotted from storage. This would need replaced. NOT TESTED. Item is SOLD AS IS, AS FOUND. All the knobs and dials are free and smooth moving. I used a flashlight and can see some light thru the lens at top. Marked C 12.5x. The square slide platform has an adjustment piece No. 48907, triple lens mount is marked 25155. I assume this will need a good cleaning, oil perhaps. May need some restoration or parts
