MICROSCOPE. TRAVIS UNIVERSAL DARK FIELD STOP J. SWIFT OF LONDON. DIATOMS.
TRAVIS UNIVERSAL DARK FIELD STOP BY J. SWIFT OF LONDON MOST RARE! A MUSEUM ITEM! This is a variable diameter(from 1.8 cm to 2.5 cm) dark-field stop with an external diameter of 3.4 centimeters. It was made by the prestigious Victorian company of James Powel Swift(founded in 1853) In use the Travis stop is placed on the filter-holder ring located below the condenser and iris diaphragm of most microscopes made in the 1880-1960 period. Besides providing dark-field illumination for objectives of low. Medium, and high power, the Travis stop provides Oblique Circular Illumination, a contrast- and detail-enhancing technique that has gained considerable popularity in recent years. Hartley(The Light Microscope its Use& Evolution. 1993) comments on the Travis stop as follows, This component not only simplified dark-ground illumination, but if used ... morewith the substage iris, offered zonal illumination like a Heine condenser[bold in the original] And“it was of particular value to diatomists. This most attractive attachment was difficult to manufacture and hence expensive. Very few examples have survived. Condition. Mechanically is excellent; the movement of the blades has a silky feeling to it. Cosmetically, the arm is a replacement and the paint shows its age. The reflections in the center of most pictures are images of the ring lights. Shipping to the USA and Europe(Foreign shipping is $7.00) This is a no return auction; please see the pictures and ask questions before bidding. Thanks and good luck!

Antique brass single lens field microscope
Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is a unique and very interesting antique brass single lens microscope. Probably made in the mid-19th century. The microscope comes with a nice case. I don't know if it originally belonged to it(but this way I bought it) I add to it two contemporaneous small frame French-made slides mounted by the Bourgogne Brothers. The last photo is of a flea from one of these slides, as seen through this microscope. There are several similar microscopes in existing collections(like that of the Royal Microscopical Society) But none is identical. It seems that such field microscopes were made in small numbers and with great variability. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment ... moreby EMS(Express Mailing Service) PLEASE NOTE: sometimes items are held by the customs for longer periods of time. In the very unlikely case of a problem. Please do not open a case against me before contacting me first! You will be provided with the tracking number to follow the item and I will sort out any delay and refund you in full in case of any reasonable loss. I emphasize this issue. Although it happened to me only once(as compared with over 150 successful transactions as a seller) Please be patient, as it is beyond my powers to control the customs in your country. In my experience, usually there are no problems of this kind but here and there they may occur. Shipping charges: I DO NOT OVERCHARGE FOR SHIPPING! Nor do I charge for the often expensive packing materials and handling. Which I do with great care. Because eBay does not allow multiple shipping fees, I must specify a high fee. However I will refund you immediately for any excessive sum. Exactly to the true shipping fee.

Antique FIELD MICROSCOPE Flea Glass Botanical Entomologist BRASS Magnifier 1800
Antique FIELD MICROSCOPE Flea Glass Botanical Entomologist BRASS Magnifier 1800 Greetings. Tonight we have a RARE and ANTIQUE Circa 1800 Brass Folding Microscope/ Magnifier that would have been used by a Botanist or some one in the Entomology Field a couple Cenuries ago. The Single Lens Scope comes complete in it's ORIGINAL CASE, along with the pick/ spike that would hold the leaf or insect that was being studied. I can find no name on the scope to signify a maker; but the construction is excellent and the condition is the same- the Tea Stained handle is also great and free of any chips or cracks- It is also worth mentioning that it has a nice finial on the end of the handle. I have not tried to clean or polish the brass portion; keeping the wonderful patina it has attained over the years. The case is also in good solid condition; with ... morewear spots and a few chips to the outer portion as you would expect from a piece of scientific equipment that was used outdoors in the field. Don't miss out; these do not come along very often-especially when they are complete with the case and in this condition! Please look at all the pictures(SUPERSIZE) as they are an intricate part of this description; and email me with anything that you may need clarification on. I am by no means an expert; and I want to represent all items to the best of my abilities. If you have questions. Please cast them my way. ALL OF MY ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE OLD AND ORIGINAL UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE AUCTION. Thanks for looking at this auction and look for more great items to be coming in the very near future! I will always combine shipping whenever possible in order to save you money. GOOD LUCK!

Vintage Brass Doctors Working Field Microscope Civil War Era
Untitled Document Description Civil War Era antique brass working Doctors Field Microscope is a great item to own or give as a gift. The microscope itself is in beautiful condition with what I would consider signs of normal use with some small surface scratches on the outside which should buff out and a tarnished patina on the inner surfaces of the tube. These surface blemishes do not take away from the usefulness or desirability of the piece and most likely will disappear if professionally cleaned. There is a light“tuning reel” on the side that adjusts the light source for pin point brightness to a much broader range of light across the entire slide. There are multiple size openings to adjust the light source needed accordingly. It is this small wheel/coin looking thing located on the side just below where the slides are placed. This brass ... moretuning wheel is what makes this a working Doctors field microscope. And not a simple student version. Plus there is an extra screw on the shaft that allows the doctor to secure the microscope to the desired height and keep it there without it slipping. A must have accessory when working long hours in the medical field with this type of microscope. The mirror reflects nicely. But could use a good polishing. The magnifying lenses have no cracks, but have some surface scratches, and needs professional cleaning. Also included is an extra wooden encased magnifier lens. This extra lens would have given the doctor a better look at any given tissue sample placed on a slide. This lens shows signs of field use with surface scratches on the lens that might polish out nicely. The case has a sizable crack running nearly the length of the lid and is not fully secure. But still has integrity. This working Civil War Era Doctors Field Microscope is a really awesome museum quality item all the way around! It is a wonderful piece of medical and military history that adds a since of pride to any collection. Payment Payment is due upon auction end. I accept Paypal. If not paid within 4 business

JONES LONDON - Antique Brass Microscope / Telescope / Field / Accessory? Signed
Beautifully Signed: Jones London Day or Night in Antique Brass* I am a bit stumped with this one. I believe it to be a small antique brass microscope for use in the field. It has a lens on each end. Nothing inside. If you put a specimen inside it, it does have a bit of magnification when held to the light. although I am not sure if this is its intended purpose? Your guess is as good as mine. or perhaps better on this one. Could also be a part/ accessory, although I am not sure how it would attach to anything else. Given the markings. It is likely by William and Samuel Jones, who are also famous for pioneering the Jones Brothers Most Improved Microscope in the late eighteenth century. I do not think this has any relation to that particular microscope design though. There are some dents. Smudges and scratches, as shown in the photos. Appears ... moreto have been polished. Certainly a neat display item. I am a big fan of these lovely old antique signatures on brass. Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Happy to ship outside the UK. Canada, and US, but please contact me beforehand to obtain a quote and confirm I can ship to your location. I reserve the right to refuse sale to any bidder that has poor or limited feedback so please check if such is the case prior to bidding. Shipping is an estimate based on conservative dimensions. I only charge the actual shipping cost. Any notable difference when dropped off at the post is refunded. Thanks for looking and kind regards!

Antique Brass Field Pocket Microscope Eyepiece Magnifying Glass Etc
Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.

Antique Bausch & Lomb Field Dissecting Barnes Style Microscope w/ Storage area
PLEASE NOTE- BIDDERS WITH ZERO FEEBACK or EXCESSIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK MUST EMAIL ME PRIOR TO BIDDING. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY BID AT MY DISCRETION. WINNING BIDDER MUST REMIT PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION. Hello and Welcome to my Auction. Please have a look at my pictures and if you need some other angle please email me– I am a collector. Too, so I know how important it is for you to have enough information to make up your mind before bidding. Up for auction is a very interesting old piece. This is an antique Bausch& Lomb field dissecting microscope w/a storage area. I understand they call this the Barnes style. It measures 10” long by about 3 ¾” tall and is wooden. It has a mirror and the scope holder. But no eyepiece. It opens up, as is shown in the pictures, so that you can store slides and lenses, etc. It ... morestill retains some of the tissue paper to protect the supplies and has a nice latch to close it. Hinges work well. Pictures tell the story but in nice condition overall, some imperfections in the mirror, as happens over time. The Bausch and Lomb identifying metal plate is on the front which states“Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester NY, New York City, Chicago. The wood is in very nice shape…great piece for display and very collectible. I believe this dates to the early part of the 20th century. Be sure to ask all questions before bidding as this is a final sale. Winning bidder shall pay $12 shipping in USA– if shipping turns out to be materially less. I will refund the difference via Paypal. Unless I can get to the post office during the week, all shipping will be done on the Saturday following auction close. Also please don’t forget to check my other auction for an old drive in movie theater speaker. THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Rare Nikon H Field Microscope with Leather Bag Vintage Antique Collectible
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE HE Offered for sale is a rare Nikon H field microscope. The Nikon H(Hand" was designed in the 1960s by Nikon after the introduction of the commercial model of McArthur's folded optics microscope by Vickers in the 1950s. However. Nikon took the concept many steps ahead and produced one of the most sophisticated portable microscopes ever to be made. It is considered by many the best field microscope of all times. Production ceased in the late 1960s. Nikon H was also the first microscope to operate in space. During the first Skylab mission of NASA in 1973-4. This microscope was used in an experiment examining the effects of space conditions on bacteria and spore. For more details about this unique and ingenious microscope. Please see: Condition: Please note: The accompanying array of images of ... morethe microscope and its leather case taken from various angles are a part of this statement of condition. Please take the time to view all of the images to confirm what you will be getting. The microscope is in proper working condition. It has been tested and found to be properly working. With the battery compartment clean, the bulb(which is the original type of flashlight bulb of the 1960's) still functions(see photos) The ocular is clear(but it can use some delicate cleaning) and the objectives are perfect. The paint seems to have been repaired in one area on the right side of the ocular tube. The stage clips, clips holder and one of the tiny strap hooks below the ocular are missing. The leather case has been repaired in the past with the two strap hooks being efficiently glued back in place by some sort of strong solder. Because of these issues I list this microscope with a low BIN price of about $1000 less than the current value of a microscope of this kind in very good condition and with the original box. However. For many collectors this may be the only chance to get a good working specimen of this highly collectible fine instrument, which is otherwise too expensive and

Antique German DRGM Field & Classroom Microscope NEW IN ORIGINAL BOX
Antique German DRGM Field& Classroom Microscope This is a wonderful old German-made brass and steel microscope that probably dates to about 1880 or so and is still in brand-new condition just the way it came a hundred and some years ago in its original box. The original box is a two-part 1-½ x 2-¾ x 4 inch maroon covered chipboard box with the original label on the bottom. The original label shows it as Nr. 1290/7 and with a penciled in price of 3- don’t know if that is German Marks or Dollars) The microscope itself consists of a brass tube and brass eye piece 1-⅜ inches in diameter by about 2 inches long. The eye piece is removable and below it is a spring-loaded brass slide holder so that slides can be inserted from either side and held securely in place. The brass tube is held in place in a bent iron wire fixture which also ... moreholds a swiveling. Tilting mirror. The back of the mirror is stamped with the letters DRGM for Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster which means roughly Patent Pending. The microscope and stand as you see them in our pictures fit in the large compartment of the maroon box. There is a small compartment in the box which was apparently meant to hold glass slides. Very fine condition. We live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. One of the richest gold mining areas on earth. The gold mining era began with the General Custer Expedition in the mid 1870s and we suspect but can not prove that this might have been a scientific instrument offered to miners here after the discovery of gold. Vintage, Miniature, Brass, Field Microscope, Made in Germany
Very nice. Pocket size, field microscope. When assembled it stands just 3.5 inches tall, the cylinder with eyepiece is 2 inches long and 1 and 3/8 inches across. The cylinder appears to be brass with an Bakelite eyepiece. The sturdy base is steel painted black and the mirror is double sided: one side is the actual casing which appears to be polished stainless steel and acts as a mirror while the other is an enclosed glass mirror. I imagine this is to give 2 different intensities of reflected light dependant on the subject to be viewed. The underside of the cylinder has Made in Germany stamped into the metal. see photo) The operation is quite simple, by depressing the 2 spring loaded pins on the sides of the cylinder an opening appears into which the slide is inserted. The mirror swivels to allow maximum light and the focusing is done by turning ... morethe Bakelite eyepiece. There are no date markings on the piece so I’m unsure of it’s actual date of manufacture. All parts are in excellent condition and move smoothly. Although everything appears to be in good working order I am selling the piece as is. slide and 25 cent piece are for size comparison and not included) Thanks for looking and check out more of my listings to see other interesting objects.
