THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE BIDDING FOR: A truly rare one for you. Here's a Neues Präpariermikroskop nach P. Mayer. Or new dissecting microscope from the design by Paul Mayer, manufactured by Carl Zeiss of Jena, Germany, around 1910 or so. This is a large, heavy(over 16 pounds in the case! solid iron, and extremely high quality dissecting stand, featuring three different interchangeable circular platform sections(plain flat for most general purposes, clear glass for objects requiring illumination from below, and the exceptionally rare"floating" platform that swivels in all directions by means of a polished steel hemispheric base that sits in a special rounded collar) two pivoting reflecting mechanisms underneath, double post mounts for holding loupes or small microscopes or drawing devices or whatever, polished mahogany wood ... morearm rests, and all in the original heavy duty wood outfit case. Wow! Since these were primarily acquired only by the largest and best financed institutions, they were already fairly scarce when they were new, and that's why they're exceedingly rare today. But also consider, when they are found today. They're never seen in such a clean. Complete, and well preserved state with so many additional pieces. An extremely desirable and precious antique laboratory device from the biggest name in vintage microscope gear! Look at all the pics below.it's nothing short of amazing! Brass handle and hinges. Generally good conditions. A little spotting on one side of the mirror but the other side is perfect and minor rust on the screw tops. Bausch& Lomb. Of Rochester New York, introduced this simple monocular dissecting microscope in 1903. The instrument is supported by a sturdy brass horseshoe-shaped base that secures a four-inch tubular pillar upon which the stage and eyepiece(ocular) are mounted. A swinging arm that houses the ocular is attached to the top of the pillar. The stage plate is four and a half inches square and has a glass specimen plate of the same size. The substage double mirror is attached to the pillar via ... morea swinging tailpiece. Focus is achieved with a triangular bar through a rack and pinion gear mechanism that moves the stage up and down on the pillar.

WINNING BIDDER MUST REMIT PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION. Hello and Welcome to my Auction. Please have a look at my pictures and if you need some other angle please email me– I am a collector. Too, so I know how important it is for you to have enough information to make up your mind before bidding. Up for auction is a very interesting old piece. This is an antique Bausch& Lomb field dissecting microscope w/a storage area. I understand they call this the Barnes style. It measures 10” long by about 3 ¾” tall and is wooden. It has a mirror and the scope holder. But no eyepiece. It opens up, as is shown in the pictures, so that you can store slides and lenses, etc. It ... morestill retains some of the tissue paper to protect the supplies and has a nice latch to close it. Hinges work well. Pictures tell the story but in nice condition overall, some imperfections in the mirror, as happens over time. The Bausch and Lomb identifying metal plate is on the front which states“Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester NY, New York City, Chicago. The wood is in very nice shape…great piece for display and very collectible. I believe this dates to the early part of the 20th century. Be sure to ask all questions before bidding as this is a final sale. Winning bidder shall pay $12 shipping in USA– if shipping turns out to be materially less. I will refund the difference via Paypal. Unless I can get to the post office during the week, all shipping will be done on the Saturday following auction close. Very rare dissecting microscope(WORKING CONDICTION) While this instrument is unsigned by the maker. This form of dissecting-preparation microscope was designed and produced by the Parisian optician Constant Verick beginning in the 1870's. The mechanisms and movements used on this microscope are reminiscent to those that originally appeared in the earlier Raspail type simple microscope; in this case, the older type has been modified with the incorporation of wooden hand-rests and draws for the lenses and accessories.
