Spencer Lens Co Microscope Buffalo. NY Brass and Cast with Extra Lenses and Case from NYU? Great example of an early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo. NY that I recently picked up at an estate sale. Still has a great look to it. Came in a nice wood framed case that the outside material is worn or coming off of. Case is still all intact, with carrying handle, hinges, and door. No key comes with the case. Serial number of 69870 is on the microscope. Site I looked up on the internet says this piece is from 1920 to 1921. The 3 turret microscope has a 10 mag lens at top and then the 10x. 44x and 95x lenses at the bottom. There is also a 6X and 5X mag lens for the top of the microscope in the case. The three lower lenses were in their metal cases still in the box originally. The mirror below that seems to be intact as well. I do not see where ... moreany of the lenses on the microscope are visibly cracked or missing the glass lens, certainly are dirty, so you would be buying this piece as is. But certainly no expert in microscopes, so you are buying as is. Ask any questions or request any pictures of items that are important to you before buying this piece. There is also some sort of metal attachment for the scope that is in its' own little case and marked Spencer Lens Co. that has a latch on it. What is really unique about this piece is the horizontal and vertical measuring device that is on the plate the glass slides lay on. The measuring device slide moves side to side with the screw that moves it. The one that moves the other scale top to bottom either needs adjustment or the screw is stripped. On the bottom. The piece is marked LV and then NYU, so presume this piece was once used at New York University. Mirror on bottom reflector piece is still there on both sides, but shows a lot of wear and tear. The brass components on the scope still look pretty good. There is some corrosion/rust on the cast metal part of the microscope. Most notably on the rear top of the base. The main plate the glass slide would lay on ap

hi i had this old microscope for so long i forgot about it dug it out of storage and dusted it off it is a Spencer microscope serial no.76097 made in buffalo new york it is painted black and body must be solid brass. the vinyl protective cover has a seperation in the sleeve the condenser appears to slide out and i believe can be removed two eyepieces are included mirror shows discolor with age on one side.flip side is clear. wooden case is dovetailed.it comes with a locking key that works.and a few spares it seems. the metal cans sit in the interior case shelf and 3 exist to fit the three magnification lens supplied. the example is clean but only used as a showpeice or decorative i am near certain the lens while not scratch suffer imperfections due to age. Some sort of crackle may take place in the glass with a sort of inclusion that appears ... moreto mare perfect clarity. shillabers immersion oil is supplied and makes the offer interesting in crossover appeal in vintage labware. Vintage bottles, vintage advertisement and so on while the craftmanship in the case itself appeal to woodworkers, cabinet makers, tools and cie and cie and the microscope should have similar appeal to vintage lab equipment. Medical.decorative nostalgia, vintage brass ware and cie and cie sold as is 99 cents good luck

This rarely seen antique dissecting microscope is by Spencer and dates to the 1800's. Charles A. Spencer is known as America's first microscope maker. The microscope is marked: Spencer Buffalo USA. The microscope has a cast iron stand. It is in fair condition. The knobs on the sides move the lens but are very stiff and probably need some oiling. Antique Spencer Microscope with Wooden Storage Box The microscope was my physician father’s and was used by him in medical school at Tufts College 1939. I am not sure. But it could have been used by his physician father before that. After WWII. He returned home and continued to use the microscope in his medical practice. There is a bill of sale dated 1939 for an objective in its original envelope. The microscope is in the original wooden box and it does have a key to lock the door securely. There is also a small light box included. Please look at the pictures and if you have any questions I will try to answer them. Additional pictures can be taken of something specific if needed. I have not cleaned this item. Please study the pictures carefully. This is being sold in“as found/as is condition” and no returns or adjustments please. I will take ... morethe unit to the UPS Store and have it packed and insured for a cost of approx. $35-45.00 as quoted to me but it will depend on where it is being shipped. I can also pack it very carefully and ship it. But this will be left up to the buyer. I will advise you of the shipping costs with an invoice. So do not pay until you hear from me. This is a very heavy item and in a wooden box is also heavy. Thank you for looking. I will be posting quite a few more medical items in the upcoming months.
Here is a rare binocular microscope by Spencer. It was made in 1925. It has a heavy SOLID BRONZE base and spine body. It has an antique Apochromat lens. A used apochromat lens today costs around 3000.00. An apochromat lens has better corrction of chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration is the phenomenon of different colors focusing at different distances from a lens. Apochromatic lenses are designed to bring three wavelengths(typically red. Green, and blue) into focus in the same plane. The case has an upholsterd fet lined drawer that holds the binocular head and all its accessories. In other words, this is the best microscope that can be found in 1925! Its fitted with a Leitz Wetzlar mechanical stage. Binocular eyepiece can be adjusted wider or narrower. There are levers on each side of each eyepiece that covers one eye or the other. Every ... moresingle moving part moves freely. Clear shap mangnification. Just put on your specimen and enjoy! In my years of collecting, I have only had one other SOLID BRONZE microscope with all the bells and whistles. Shipping and handling includes FULL INSURANCE!

For Sale! Hi. Here we have a nice antique Ernst Leitz Wetzlar microscope and two Spencer accessories for it. These were my Dad's and I really don't need them or use them. He used them to look at really small rock samples I believe for prospecting. What the two accessories for it do. I don't know or if they work properly or not. They appear to be in good shape and offhand, look like some kind of adapters so two people can look at the same thing at the same time, but I haven't tried them. They look to be in pretty good shape as the pictures show. I'm sure somebody out there knows what they are. They are in seperate boxes marked Spencer, Buffalo NY. The one that has 90 degree angled eyepeices has a 6x and a 10x eyepeice and the eyepiece on the long tube can rotate around. It's in the black box and that's nice. The ... morebrown box is a bit rougher and it has one that is at an angle and has two 6x eyepeices. The microscope has Ernst Leitz Wetzlar on it and is marked No. 291286. I don't know if that's a model number or a serial number. It has a 10x eyepiece and two magnifying lenses. Once is a number 3 and the other is a 6L. I don't know what the numbers mean. You can look through it and see light via the mirror so I believe it will work. The mirror can be moved around and there is an iris mechanism above the mirror that works via an arm. Both the knob sets turn smoothly. It's been used as it has some scratches and paint loss here and there and some light corrosion on various parts as you can see in the photos. But overall I don' think it's in too bad a shape. I know he rarely took it out and kept it put away almost all the time. I don't know how old it is. That's about all I can say about it. What you see is what you get! Please ask any questions before bidding and thanks for looking Get it here far cheaper than at other places. Don't blink or it will be gone! PAYMENT. Sally's Cellar is very pleased to offer one of my favorite finds. a Bausch& Lomb brass microscope with a Spencer Lens(4 mm) stored in an excellent wooden box made for the microscope! Whew! Up for sale by auction-1897 Bausch and Lomb Microscope with a Spencer Lens(both microscope and the lens have ID# This piece is made of brass and black covered metal(not sure) handle and the horseshoe shaped bottom holder Gorgeous brass plate with beautiful oxidation and antique character-Missing a few items that can be easily replaced. Missing the 2 clips that hold the glass lenses. The number of the box is different than the microscope, just one lens on the microscope but there is room for a second one to be attached, also missing the mirror underneath the brass plate. Because Bausch% Lomb is still in business and there are parts for sale for most ... moreevery type of machine. I think you can find the pieces you wish to add. Our policy is to keep pieces we sell in the same condition in which we found them. The wooden box that houses this microscope is absolutely gorgeous. The color is beautiful. The design of the dovetail corners is just excellent craftsmanship. There is not a key for the door. I will keep looking through my sample keys this week: Why do you think there are numbers on the microscope or the box? You are right. due to inventory! We think this must have been used in a medical school due to the times. or perhaps a very wealthy school district? This piece of Science'past' Is in great shape! Just needs few things added if you wish it to have more parts. It also would be a fabulous conversation piece! Picked a few of these old microscopes. They have no boxes and this one is missing an eyepiece and the table and do not know what else maybe it is only good for parts. Am clueless, any tips questions are appreciated. It weighs over 6 lbs.
Spencer Binocular microscope Circa 1923(Serial Number 81986) microscope in excellent condition- a collectors piece. This one was truly a cadillac in its day. Has optional monocular tube with ocular. Additional pair of ocular lenses. It has the three objectives, pictured separately each with its own original machined brass storage tube. I am told by a fellow E-bayer that the APO and/or APOCHROMATIC objectives on this scope are far superior to standard achromatic objectives and represent the top of the line. This E-bayer was also kind enough to share a note that this scope is similar to the No. 4 research model listed at the Harvard science museum(Ebay won't let me include the link- sorry) however. This is an earlier more elaborate scope with a beautiful high precision circular stage. Much more brass and if cleaned by a professional would ... moreprobably look like new.

Antique Brass and Metal Spencer Microscope with Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Attachment and Spencer Illuminator Serial No 24832 All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great older brass microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. There were 10 microscopes recently at a high end auction that appeared to be from someone's collection or a high end store that dealt in them. I acquired 6 of them. Here is another one of them. The other microscopes will be made available for sale separately at my eBay store over the next few days as well. The microscope scope and the lens and objective case and dials are made of brass. There is some corrosion to the brass and painted surfaces in places. The black painted part of the microscope stand is some sort of other metal. There is a 6x and 10x ... moreeye lens with the scope. Also a 3x with the scope that is not the right diameter. There are no date. The serial number of 24832 on the microscope would make it as having been produced around 1914 to 1915. There is also a Spencer illuminator with the microscope that has a great vintage power cord on it. The illuminator lights up when plugged in. There is a clear and blue lens inside. The reflector is still behind the bulb. The microscope also has some sort of brass Ernst Leitz Wetzlar attachment on it for moving the specimen around both horizontally and vertically on the observation plate. This is a really nice attachment and in very nice condition. The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirrored surface does show some wear. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 12.25" tall. By 6" across, by 6.75" wide. Nice what appears to be the original wood case, missing the original wood drawers. Case is intact, still has its' lock, no key. The objectives are a 1.8mm, a 4mm and a 6mm. Handle
This is an antique SPENCER MICROSCOPE made AUG. 28- 1906 ALOE CO. 63806. It could use a good cleaning and is missing one slide clip. It has a few scuffs. Very interesting piece.

Spencer microscope in the original old wooden case complete with the key that locks the door! The case has the initials AO on the door that I know is American Optical. The microscope itself has the name Spencer on it with the#250048. To give you an idea of size. The case measures 15" tall x 9" wide x 8-3/4" deep. The microscope base measures approx. 8-1/2" x 5" in size with a height of approx. 13" in the cranked down position. There are a couple extras that come with this piece, the 3 boxes of slides, some sort of light called Scope light Substage lamp that looks like it was never used. There are also 2 small amber plastic bottles inside the door of the case that are not pictured. It is best that you view the photos to see exactly what I have here ~ sorry I'm not a microscope expert! Condition: The microscope ... morelooks pretty good I do not see any broken glass in the lenses or cracks to the microscope. The body appears to be brass with a blackened finish that has tiny edge wear exposing the brass. Not obvious until you look very close but I want to point it out. The scope light is in original box with very little to no use. The wooden case is covered in a sharkskin like material that is worn, the handle at the top is there but tattered. Heavy piece I imagine it is for viewing specimens ~ take a look. I am not an expert on items we sell. Selling directly from the estate to you in our Ebay store. Bookmark us. Brass Microscope by Spencer Lens Company- circa 1895 SN# 1704 The first microscopes bearing name Spencer Lens Company were produced in 1895. This microscope is serial number 1704 out of the original 3.000 to 4,000 models produced that year. This particular model is an all brass continental design with an extendable nickel plated draw tube. A horse shoe foot, and a single vertically positioned fine focus dial with engraved graduations. The original lacquer has worn off and the brass finish shows wear in accordance with it's age. The lenses and eyepiece still work but the mirror is missing. Mirrors from some of my other antique microscopes including an early 1900's Bausch& lomb jug handle and circa 1907 spencer will fit onto this microscope relatively well but I do not have a spare to sell along with this particular item. History: ... moreCharles Spencer was the first American maker of microscopes. Publishing his first catalog in 1838. Later, in 1865, he began operating as C.A. Spencer& Sons. Between 1890 and 1895 the company operated by the name of Spencer& Smith. But in 1895 it became the Spencer Lens Company. American Optical bought the Spencer Lens Company in 1935 and by 1945 it was known as the Instrument Division of American Optical Company.
I don't know much about this microscope. It is a Spencer buffalo. It has 10x. 6x eye pieces. 1.8, 4, 16 MM objectives. SN 39826. I tried to take enough pics so you could see the condition of everything. As far as I can tell everything is in good working condition except for as you can see in the pics, the upper shutter type thing on the condenser is rusty. It comes in the original wood case. I don't have the key for it.

Chrome and paint are in good shape. One leg of the stand is marked Spencer Lens Company. A code of some sort has been scratched on the other. There does not appear to be a serial number. The box is intact with a uniform finish but looks like it is missing an internal strip on the back of the door that might have held lenses. The back of the box is held on by two brads. There is no sign of the back ever having been glued. Two lenses are supplied; a 9X marked Spencer and a 12x marked AO(American Optical) The 1924 catalog lists this as coming with either a 6x and 12x lenses or a single 9x lens. Hand rests and the black/white metal background piece for use under the stage are missing. Payment is expected within three days. I ship on the weekend following receipt of verified payment. For your consideration and from a recent local Kansas City estate is this cool 1920’s Spencer Lens Co. brass and cast microscope. It is serial No 4893 which dates production of this microscope to the first half of 1909. I am not an expert on microscopes so please ask questions before bidding! Both the knobs turn smoothly and the mirror is intact with no cracks. It is mainly solid brass construction. With the base and working platform being brass as well. I can see no damaged or missing parts. It has a beautiful aged patina. It comes in the original hardwood case with extra lenses. The key is also included. It is a great example of a very hard to find microscope. It would serve the most demanding collection very well. Good luck bidding! For priority. Parcel or first class mail, calculated shipping cost will be displayed. There is a small fee ... morefor expenses. Yes it does cost money for tape, peanuts, paper, ink and gas. Sometimes a flat rate shipping cost is displayed. My fee is also included in that cost. There will be no additional expense within the U.S. Outside the U.S. I do reserve the right to add the cost for express mail that is covered with signature conformation. I will combine shipping on items. International Buyers- Please Note: Import duties. Taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. Spencer Lens Company Brass Antique Microscope. Buffalo NY, serial number 9538. I am out of my area of expertise but I did a little research and found that Spencer Lens Company microscopes with serial numbers up to 10.000 had an approximate date of shipment of June of 1909. That would make this microscope 105 years old or older. The microscope has two objective lenses. One is marked 4mm NA066. The other is marked 16mm NAP.0.25. Both are marked Spencer Lens Co. The microscope seems to work and be in good condition for its age. When you look through the microscope you can see a couple small crooked lines. I don't know if these are cracks or dirt. The finish is worn. I do not understand why Brass has a brass finish. There are no case or other attachments. If you have any questions I will try to answer them. If you can tell me what to look ... morefor it may help me find the answer. 336.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2B%3E336-1449fa81c59-0x10f-
Up for auction. Is a great example of a Vintage Antique early 1900s microscope by Spencer of Buffalo, NY, U.S.A. that I recently picked up. It has a wonderful patina, aged look to it. The serial number on this microscope is 67927. According to my research. That serial number places the Manufacturing date sometime between June 23, 1920 and May 23, 1921. This microscope is even OLDER than one that just recently sold for about $400. Both of the brass knobs turn and the mirror is intact. With"no cracks" It could use a cleaning if you prefer the polished look, but I know some collectors prefer the aged natural look, so it has been left untouched. I am no expert in microscopes. So if you have any questions or would like to request any pictures of specific areas on the microscope that are important to you before buying this piece, please ... morefeel free to message me and ask whatever you like and I will do my best to answer any questions you have, but odds are you probably know more about it than I do.
