This ... morehas the earlier one line patent on the side. There is an original B& L cardboard card for magnifying combinations that identify this as microscope number 3316. The scope is in great condition with no dents or scratches. The varnish is crazed in some areas. There are spots of tarnish as well. I will not clean the microscope. I will let the winning bidder decide on the finish. Everything moves easily with precision. It has four Carl Zeiss Jena eyepieces(1. 2, 3, and 6(Compens Ocular) and an adapter for them. The six needs to have the bottom lens reinserted. It looks like the retaining ring was bent. The lens has no issues. It also has five B& L eyepieces(two bases are labeled A and two are labeled C, and one labeled D but the lenses are etched A, 1, D, and unetched) There is a C base with no upper that is different from the other four. There are four objective lenses(3/4, 1/5, 1/6, and 4/10) with brass cases. There is a B& L rotating"shutter" piece(pic. 8) that when rotated closed metal shutter in the small hole. A brass adapter for an eyepiece? A dual stage adapter for the objectives. Also included is a rare example of a James L. Pease quick change adapter(patented feb. 13 1883) pic. 9) The B& L light condenser is in its original box with additional eyepiece marked 1. It is in excellent working condition. The hinge has separated from the box though. Inside the drawer is some additional equipment with a cool ivory container. Brushes, needles, objective rings some additional tools. It also has a great article from an 1870's or 1880's newspaper that describes a"sociable series" in which microscopes were the item of discussion and use. The name of the company comes from engineer E. Leitz, who was hired to work in the firm and afterwards became its owner. It is a remarkable fact that Leitz has been always a reference in the field of optical material; its Canadian factory was renowned by their famous Leica cameras. This microscope comes in its original solid wood case and keeps all its accessories. Eyepieces and lenses in good condition. The microscope is made of brass with parts painted black. The brass keeps the original varnish, meant to protect the metal from rusting. This is why the brass is so polished and shiny, free from pitting. The lenses are in very good condition and provide a clear and neat view. In the central cylinder we can see the inscription Enrst Leitz Wetzlar and London, with the serial number: 122054. The name of the company is also engraved in the lenses. The microscope preserves all its original components: lenses, eyepieces, mirrors and the clips attached to the stage. The case which houses the microscope is made of solid beech wood. Inside there is a wooden stand designed to hold the eyepieces. We can also see two wooden boxes with sliding covers which contain material designed to clean the lenses and prepare the samples. The case has dovetail joints. As beautiful as strong, and keeps the original lock and keyhole. The metal handle at the top, designed to carry the microscope, is also original. In the upper edge of the box we can see the serial number, carved on the wood; this number also appears in a label fixed to the inside of the door. This label shows some technical data with information about the microscope, the objectives and the eyepieces under the name of Magnification Table. There are four pieces. They were in a box with the paper that has Edmund Scientific on it. I can't tell if allow any of these pieces are Edmund? You are buying as is. There is one lens that is marked Germany. Another attachment or piece is marked Microscope Adapter T2. The other two appear to be metal attachments and are unmarked. The one appears to be the same paint and finish as another piece I harp e listed but I could not match them up anywhere. Very ice pieces but appear to be parts to other items. The Germany marked piece is a very nice looking lens.

Offered for auction is this set of two antique microscope lenses. One lens is marked"3" and one lens is marked"5" both very small around the rim of the optic. Optics work well and they come with two turned brass cylinder holders. One piece though is slightly too small to be screwed into the cap. The cylinders are marked'1" and"H 800" though I do not think they are original matches to the lenses. Each cylinder measures 2.25 inches tall and 1.25 inches in diameter.
