50 ANTIQUE MICROSCOPE SLIDES W BOX HENSOLDT WETZLAR 1880S? GERMANY VERY RARE
0 0 1 473 2701 The Associated Press 22 6 3168 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This is a very interesting estate sale find. And it is in remarkably good condition. The black box contains 50“Microscopical Preparations” slides, including diatoms of various things like“The Tongue of a Snail, or"The Abdomen of a Bee. The best I’ve been able to determine, these slides became popular in the mid-1800s, and had something of a heyday in the 1880s or so. The case is in very good condition. Though i t has some scuffs- included in photos. The two front hook latches close into a circular catch. It says“Microscopical Preparations” and Hensoldt/Wetzlar/Germany with the Wetzlar logo. It also says Hensoldt/Wetzlar/Germany on the right side of all the slides. Some of the slides have a black circle encasing the specimen and others have a ... moreraised top over the specimen. Hensoldt is a German microscope maker. I have seen some slides online with“M. Hensoldt” on it. With the same sort of paper, dated to about 1880 or so. These slides without the“M. for Moritz, the founder) may be a little later, though they use the same paper and style, so my guess is that they are of that same era. One of the few mentions I found during my research of the Hensoldt slides indicated that a famous British slide-preparer had actually purchased his slides from M. Hensoldt. Took the Hensoldt papers off of them, and then put his own name on them to sell mostly because of the maker's products superior quality. I say 50 slides– but there is actually one of them that appears to be a blank without a specimen on it. None of them appear to be cracked or chipped. I have attached a list of what is written on each slide- the best that I could determine– the writing on them is very nice. But it is also very small! 1. Wing of Butterfly. Alla popilioris 2. Clapergillus glaricus 3. Spinning of caterpillar. Bombyn mori 4. Petalum cumpilis snellatin. Dcutvia 5. Crystals in cello. Allium sativum 6. Pollen pini 7. Sting of wasp. Aculeus vaspae 8

It comes with 6x&10x eyepieces and it is equipped with 10x-45x-100x magnifying lenses. It includes 4 metal conainers- 1/12 oel immersion, a#3 container, a#6L container and cedern-oel container. The cedern container is seized close and feels heavy, There may be a objective inside. It looks as if someone has used pliers or something to try to force open as container has some gauge marks on outside. I can not open with hands, I’m not sure if it can be opened again. There are two boxes full of glass slides, cleaning cloth and an empty eye dropper. It all comes inside original wooden box that is pretty beat up but still intact. The old key and lock still function. The box has a storage compartment ... morew/ lid and two racks to hold eyepieces and containers. Inside on door is original microscope documentation and pamphlets. It is missing a clip that holds slide in place. There is some corrosion on the shinny brass in several parts, this is surface damage that affects color of brass. All the metal is solid, lenses move freely and focus mechanisms work correctly. These have been used and have some scuffs and scratches but no major damage. They would be nice for lab use, collector or good for decoration in your den or lab. Antique Steindorff Microscope with Extra Lenses Case and Key Berlin Germany All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great older brass microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. The black painted part of the microscope stand is some sort of other metal. The eye lenses have 2. 3, 4, 5 and 6x on them. Another large metal piece that goes down by the mirror on the bottom as well. There are no dates noted on the microscope or accessories. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 12" tall. Vintage Carl Zeiss Jena Microscope in Wood Case with Key Germany from Early 1900s All items in our store include NO sales tax to our US customers! Here is a great older metal microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. The microscope scope and the lens and objective case and dials are made of metal. The black painted part of the microscope stand are in very good shape. The eye lenses have a 10x and 15x. They are both Zeiss eyepieces. There are no dates noted on the microscope or accessories. The serial number of 250927 is on the microscope would make it as having been produced around 1911-1912. The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirrored surface does show some wear(loose from stand) The glass for the lens ... moreand objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. Vintage, Miniature, Brass, Field Microscope, Made in Germany
Very nice. Pocket size, field microscope. When assembled it stands just 3.5 inches tall, the cylinder with eyepiece is 2 inches long and 1 and 3/8 inches across. The cylinder appears to be brass with an Bakelite eyepiece. The sturdy base is steel painted black and the mirror is double sided: one side is the actual casing which appears to be polished stainless steel and acts as a mirror while the other is an enclosed glass mirror. I imagine this is to give 2 different intensities of reflected light dependant on the subject to be viewed. The underside of the cylinder has Made in Germany stamped into the metal. see photo) The operation is quite simple, by depressing the 2 spring loaded pins on the sides of the cylinder an opening appears into which the slide is inserted. The mirror swivels to allow maximum light and the focusing is done by turning ... morethe Bakelite eyepiece. There are no date markings on the piece so I’m unsure of it’s actual date of manufacture. All parts are in excellent condition and move smoothly. Although everything appears to be in good working order I am selling the piece as is. slide and 25 cent piece are for size comparison and not included) Thanks for looking and check out more of my listings to see other interesting objects.
