Stately presentation piece! This appears to be an early example of the bar-limb design first pioneered by Andrew Ross. As might be expected with a mechanical antique of this age. It is not in perfect, complete condition. Descriptions can sometimes be subjective. And details/ condition of mechanical antiques difficult to capture in photos. While I am passionate about antique microscopes and enjoy hanging onto them briefly as a hobby/ admirer. I am not able to yet call myself an expert so please review as well, and do not hesitate to ask questions/ request more photos. We have available this one antique brass& metal Carl Zeiss Je na microscope. Serial number is 27161(circa 1890 if my research is correct) Stand style VIa. Comes with a 3x& 6x objective lens. Each has its original brass protective tube with lid. There is anot her wi der diameter objective lens with no mark ings(no tu be) Comes with a 10x& 4x eye piece lens. Comes with the original ca rry box in excellent condition with original key fully functional. It has the wood en holder fo r the eye pieces& lenses. It has an accessor y box with some o ld slides. I didn't see any marked ebola or bubonic plague so no worries there. There is one split on the back panel of the box but appears to have been there for some time and still fully intact. I tested the unit with the 10x eye piece and both objective lenses with a couple old slides. ... moreOptics seem to be excellent with no concerns. The 3x objective lens has lost most of it's brass finish. There is rust on the two screw heads on the slide platform. Here's an antique microscope camera outfit. Made by Carl Zeiss of Jena, Germany, probably in the 1920's, for making 4.5 x 6 cm exposures on glass plates or cut film. Please don't ask me to explain more about it or how it works because my knowledge of microscopy is rudimentary at best. I probably only know enough to be"dangerous" Whatever, you can see it for yourself, and although untested and I don't know how to operate the shutter(if it works at all after nearly a century) it appears to be in a very nice state of preservation, featuring clean bright viewing system, some sort of dedicated objective in its own little black metal storage tube, a pair of perfect original plate holders, a graduated exposure scale for test exposures, and an additional mask for making round exposures, all nicely protected in the original ... moreheavy duty wood outfit case. Very cool! Look at the pics below.it's a fascinating piece of vintage Zeiss technology! It comes in the original wooden lock box with the original key and the lock does work. The microscope bolts inside the box so it doesn't slide around when carried. There are two sliding drawers inside the box; one has 3 empty canisters in it the other has, what appear to be, 2 extra attachments for the microscope. This piece is in excellent condition for its age. This auction is for the instrument shown in the seven photos. I can not find a maker's name on it anywhere. However, it looks precisely identical to the Zeiss microspectroscope which I just looked up on Google, and It looks just like the Zeiss instrument I have seen in a Zeiss catalog. I believe it is a Zeiss instrument. In appearance, it looks to me like new- the lacquer is virtually perfect, as is the paint. All controls are smooth. I believe, however, that there is some sort of, or degree of, internal derangement, for while I can see some spectra thru it, it is not clear nor is it linear. I would guess this is well over 100 years old, and that prism de-cementing has probably happened. The side tube projects wavelength over the spectra, and that works, but the apparent film with the numerical readings appears degraded. Thus, this is ... morea perfect display piece, but not, I think, one which will function correctly, unless it is correctly restored by a competent antique instrument expert. I have not attempted any dis-assembly at all on it, ever. In original fine fitted box as shown, Box is 6 5/8 by 5 by 3 1/2 inches. As shown and as described. No return. Forward/backward) the collar on the upright piece moves microscope shaft up/down. It has optics, don't think they are complete, but not cracked. 5,5x NR 3516 2 f=55 4A 2 6A 3 Base measures about 11.375" x 11.375" NOT including the feet) Overall. Base is about 13.875" x 13.875" Condition: Good to Very Good(see photos) Good for parts or repair. Sold"as is" Don't believe it is complete. Some of the Chrome is lightly bubbled. Rare CARL ZEISS Jenna CORNEAL MICROSCOPE Binocular #1174 w CASE KEY BASE Antique
Corneal Microscope(Hornhaut-Mikroskop) Nr. 1174 Brass with Black Japanning Finish Carl Zeiss Jenna circa late 1800's with Case. Key and Base Please Review All 37 Photos Posted at Bottom of Listing Very hard to find Corneal Microscope made by Carl Zeiss. Jenna, circa the late 1800's. It comes in the original wood case with the Zeiss nameplate still attached, there's an enclosed compartment in the case where the doctor's accessories can be stored, and the original Zeiss"Z" key is still with the case. Included is the large base which still swivels smoothly. There are 3 binocular objective lens, 2 10x ocular lens, and a slit lighting attachment. There is also a glass tube with red and yellow lines and the end caps screw on to the tube and have lenses inside(I'm not sure what this piece is used for and. To remove ... moreit from its' compartment in the case, both end caps must be unscrewed from the tube) The bulb in the slit lighting attachment is burned out and I'm not sure if it needs a cord or something to make it work. This rare microscope is in wonderful antique preowned used condition; there's some age wear to the black japanning finish on the brass. No cracks or breaks to the ocular lens or objective lens, the base swivels up and down smoothly, the bulb in the slit lighting attachment is burned out, the original Zeiss"Z" key is still with the case and the key works in the case but it does have some surface corrosion, the original Zeiss name plate is still attached to the box, the handle is secure to the box, the hinges on the box work great, there's some age wear to the wood of the box including a crack to the bottom(see photo) And the microscope, case and base should be cleaned to look their very best. I've just lightly wiped it off and will leave all additional cleaning of this collectible antique up the buyer's expertise. I'm not an expert on microscopes and I do not know if this set is complete. Antique Carl Zeiss Jena Microscope. Excellent condition. With multiple Lenses.
While out making my rounds hunting for cameras I came across this beautiful antique Zeiss microscope. I have been told that this is a first series Stand E and dates from 1925. I can't be entirely sure that is accurate but the person that told me that seemed to know what they were talking about. As I mentioned I am a camera guy so I am not entirely familiar with Microscopes so forgive me if I use the incorrect terminology. The Microscope is in Very good to Excellent condition. The enamal paint is excellent. There are a few tiny chips around the base. Most of the Brass is also excellent. There is some pitting in the brass mostly on the barrels of the lenses. There is also a little plating loss on the top brass barrel along with a little tarnish. All knobs and dials move freely and smoothly. The Microscope comes with a total of 5 lenses. ... more2 top and 3 bottom. The top lenses are 7x and 10x. The bottoms are, 8.20, 40.65, and HI 90 1.25. Each of the bottom lenses comes with a metal tube case. Everything comes in the original wood case. Sorry the key for the case is long gone. The lenses appear to be fog and fungus free, but the small lower lenses were to small for me to get a good look at so I can't guarantee those ones. This antique microscope is solid brass. Model number and maker on front. Please Look at All Pics. For desription. There is two spencer/ baush and lomb lense. Shutter rolls open. plate moves underneath. Scope goes up and down missing glass. I have tried to show a curate pics. Email me if I am missing something or u have questions. Measures 23 1/2 at highest on scope. Screw on shutter has bend although operates smooth so not sure if it's suppose to be that way. The scope doesn't have the smoothest movement when compared to slide movement and has a fall at bottom. tightening and cleaning? Not sure just being honest because I am unfamiliar with mechanics on these.

Shows signs of oxidation. Overall pretty good condition. Has the"look through" eye lenses. But no lower lenses. Microscope tilts, has 2 removable pieces, focusing wheels turn.
