Reichert Wien/ Carl Reichert Wien Scientific Microscope. Carl Reichert married into the Leitz family in 1874 and began manufacturing in Vienna(Austria) two years later. This. And the fact that he had some of the Leitz technicians working for him, explains why his instruments are so similar in design to those of Leitz. The firm was known for high quality instruments well into the 20th century when it was eventually bought out be American Optical in 1962. The antique Carl Reichert Wien Achromatic Microscope is numbered 18298 and dates approx 1900-1905. It has lacquered brass with black enameled iron horseshoe base. The tube has four nosepiece/ objective lens Lens ... morenumbered 18b. 3, 7a(Reichert Wien) 7a(E. Leitz Wetzlar) I don't know anything about microscope therefore I took a lot of pictures to show you the condition. For Auction. From my own collection of stuff, one optician's antique lens set in the original leather case. From the M. Wiseman Co. Ltd one of the great names in British Optical History. Founded in England in 1898 M. Wiseman was a leader in the optical industry producing scientific instruments and eventually frames. M. Wiseman products are on display at the British Optical Association Museum in London. England. Now, here is an example you can display in your own collection. The leather case interior and exterior is in wonderful condition for it's age and the clasps have a nice patina. antique mahogany Scientific/Chronometer box 19th century w Lock
A great antique Mahogany box with original hardware handle. Escheon, lock, and 2 latches. Dimensions are; 8 1/8" wide, 7 3/4" deep, 7" tall. Inside measures 7 1/4" wide, 6 3/4" deep. Top section height is 3" Bottom section is 3 1/4" high. The inside rails are down 3/8" from top. It has blind dovetails and is very well made. I original thought this was a marine chronometer clock case, but it has some shadow lines inside the bottom of the case that caused me to leave that up to the buyer. Please notice the chip missing on the bottom left hand side of the front of the box. There are two cracks on the top due to age. The age of this piece is about the second quarter of the 19th century, so look at the wear and markings on the box. It's a great piece. Our estate sale, so no returns. Antique Scientific Parabolic Reflector 1890-1910 Maynifying Glass Missing An unusual and rare medical or scientific instrument manufactured between 1890 and 1910. It is used to magnify medial or scientific specimens utilizes a candle and parabolic reflector and it should have a magnify glass, but it is missing. It has a flared base in blued steel supporting a disk with a point to hold a candle and an arm that supports the parabolic reflector. The interior of the reflector is highly polished nickel plated metal. In my research I could not find any information about the maker of the item. This item is in very good condition– but it is missing the magnifying glass. It is 19 inches tall and the reflector is 12 inches in diameter. The base is 6 inches in diameter.

Up for grabs is a piece of cast-iron laboratory equipment(trolley? made by CENCO. Also known as the Central Scientific Co. The label on the trolley reads, Central Scientific Co. Chicago U.S.A. CENCO Laboratory Apparatus and markings in the iron read"84" on one set of wheels and"83" in the body of the trolley. A marking reading"UW 132 A 249" is painted in white on one side of the body, most likely an identification marking from the University of Wisconsin at Madison where it was probably used to conduct motion experiements in physics courses. The trolley measures 6.25" long, 2.75" wide, and stands 1.75" tall. Judging from the appearance, this piece of equipment was probably manufactured during the early 1900's. Set of two turned brass antique scientific microscope lens lenses
Offered for auction is this set of two antique microscope lenses. One lens is marked"3" and one lens is marked"5" both very small around the rim of the optic. Optics work well and they come with two turned brass cylinder holders. One piece though is slightly too small to be screwed into the cap. The cylinders are marked'1" and"H 800" though I do not think they are original matches to the lenses. Each cylinder measures 2.25 inches tall and 1.25 inches in diameter. Each lens has a screw thread diameter of approx 3/4 inches. Nice shape overall- some patina. Scratching etc to surface with age. I accept PayPal. Up for sale is a very nice antique Reichert Austria microscope. Carl Reichert married into the Leitz family in 1874 and began manufacturing microscopes in Vienna(Austria) two years later. This and the fact that he had some of the Leitz technicians working for him explains why his instruments are so similar in design to those of Leitz. The firm was known for high quality instruments well into the 20th century when it was eventually bought out by American Optical in 1962* Background history from NJhouseholdgoods Auctions) This antique Reichert Microscope is numbered 104355 and dates approx. 1900. It has a black lacquered iron horseshoe base and. The Tube is also black lacquered and has only a single occular lens numbered 1. It has no makers identification label(not uncommon in early microscope parts at this time) The objective lens turret supports ... moreonly 2 objective lenses The one brass colored objective lens is of the the same time period as the microscope and is marked(12) 3920, Its components unscrew and can perhaps serve as a lower powered objective lens. It also has no makers identification. The second objective lens(plated brass) is a newer Reichert lens labeled- A=0.25; Ph 15:1 250 Reichert Wien. The condenser function normally with full range of iris closure. The miorror is in excellent condition on both sides. This is a Circa 1900-1910 Battery-Type Electrical Device that was Manufactured by the CAMBRIDGE SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENT CO. LTD.Cambridge. England) It measures approximately 9.5" tall, 9" wide and 4.25" deep, and is mostly constructed of Oak( wood, Brass, a Bakelite( Top, and brass and copper fittings and lining. The wood has been so permeated by chemical solutions( thru the century, that it has created a very dark patina to the wood overall. Stamped into the top of the lid is"The Cambridge Scientific Instrument Co. Ltd. England. No. 2539, No. 476" and the 3 thumb screw brass terminals, starting with the upper left one, are stamped"B1" B2" and"G2" The two large, square brass posts are stamped"5 OHMS-C1"left one) and the other is"5 OHMS-P2" There are no other markings, inside ... moreor out, but everything seems to be there, including the Bakelite"cork" in the top. Note also that the tallest brass rod/knob on the device can be pulled up and down while the top is in place. The interior of the box is sheathed in copper with soldered corners. We estimate its age based on the fact that the firm was not formed until 1881, and changed its name to Cambridge& Paul Instrument Co. in 1920. That and the overall look of the instrument and the materials with which it is contructed, would suggest a ca 1900 date, plus or minus 10 years. The apparatus weighs exactly 10 pounds. A polarimeter is a scientific instrument used to measure theangle of rotation caused by passing polarized light through an optically activesubstance. A saccharimeter is a form of polarimeter for measuring the concentration of sugar solutions and is used most often in the sugar industry for determining the qualityof both the juice from sugar cane and the refined sucrose. This instrument is 19-1/4" long. Black rail and silver colored metal hardware, a beautiful black and green central tube, a small measuring scale at one end, and lots of dials and adjustable eyepieces. It has a door in the round cylinder that was meant to take another cylinder, most ... morelikely containing the material to be tested. Much of it is not magnetic, although I am not sure of the material. The bottom has a threaded hole that I think was meant to receive a tripod. There is a small round paper tag on it that says"Dennison" most likely the university, and a sticker inside the box that says"University of Cincinnati" with a number. The hardwood box is dovetailed, has antique hardware, is 20-3/8" long, 5-3/4" wide and 4" high, and has several compartments made by wood partitions screwed to the box from the outside. No key. You now know as much as I do! I have no idea what pieces may be missing. But it is a great conversation piece! Condition: The box has one significant split(see last photo) and a marred finish. But is solid and well made. The instrument itself needs cleaned and polished, and the green/black finish on the tube has marks and scratches on it. I do not know how or if it works. It is completely original with all the fixtures. Chemicals, tubing, beautiful glass burette, glass bottles, leveling bulb, wood stand& tube of? There are to brass labels on the top of the box and one on the inside door. On the top, there is also a label from the University of California. Central Scientific Company was founded in 1900 in downtown Chicago. It was formed out of what was left of the Olmstad Scientific Company. Central Scientific manufactured and distributed science teaching equipment for schools. Colleges, and universities by catalog mail order. The trademark"CENCO" was used from 1909 onwards. CENCO dominated the field of selling science education equipment through their mail order catalog. As the nineteenth century began to wind down. Table-top pumps began to be standard issue for college collections. This one, is similar to the one at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, which was made by James. W. Queen of Philadelphia; in the 1881. It was known as the Queen Pump. The ... moredimensions of the pump are 28” x 11” 31. The 12” ruler is pictured for scale. The piston-type vacuum pump was invented by Otto von Guericke(1602-1686; see photo) in the course of a series of experiments on the production and effects of a vacuum. He used it to investigate the properties of the vacuum. With his experiments Guericke disproved the hypothesis of"horror vacui" That nature abhors a vacuum. Aristotle in e.g. Physics IV 6-9 had argued against the existence of the void and his views commanded near universal endorsement by philosophers and scientists up to the 17th century. Guericke showed that substances were not pulled by a vacuum, but were pushed by the pressure of the surrounding fluids. One time he pumped out the air out of 2 copper half globes.
