The piece is made of black-lacquered iron, with several elements made of silvery metal and brass. Drum Microscope for Student Use Made in 1900. Original Case
Drum Microscope for Student Use Made in 1900. In Excellent Condition and Working Order. Original Case This drum microscope is a piece made in 1900 that has survived to our days in perfect condition and working order. It is a beautiful item. Made completely of polished brass and stored in its original mahogany case. This microscope was designed for student or travelling use and is perfect to carry and use it in class due to its small size and compact design. The instrument is composed of two parts that can be detached and comfortably stored into the case, being a charming and very attractive article. The drum microscope is a portable instrument invented by English optician Benjamin Martin in the middle of the 18th century. During those years these devices were very popular for field work. Teaching, studying and even as toys for kids. This ... moreparticular instrument shows the design developed by Noel Lerebours, a French optician whose drum microscope became highly successful. In the middle of the 19th century drum microscope became obsolete with the arrival of new models manufactured by companies such as Leitz Wetlzar and Zeiss Jenna. As stated before. This microscope shows the classic design of this kind of devices. Its simplicity and functionality are quite remarkable. It works perfectly and keeps all its original component parts in great condition. The microscope has a lens to concentrate and focus the light on the samples, and two lenses stored in their corresponding compartments. It also comes with a pair of thongs to manipulate the sample plates. The case where the microscope is stored is in good condition; it is made of solid mahogany wood and boasts a beautiful deep veneer with different shades of red. The hinges that connect the box and the lid are original and so are the shutting hooks. This microscope will surely be the ideal piece to complete a good collection of scientific antiques. Measurements: Width: 1.7 in/4.5 cm. Height: 5.9 in/15 cm. I think I left nothing in the description but if I forgot something

Fine Student Microscope, Compactly Designed. Made Circa 1920
Fine Student Microscope. Small in Size and Compactly Designed. Made Circa 1920. In Working Order This delicate microscope was made in the first quarter of the 20th century and is a charming and precise article. Its small size suggests that it is a student microscope designed for practical training. Compact and functional. It is well preserved and works like new. The instrument has a black-enameled iron base with a piece that supports the polished brass turret and rack and pinion adjustment. The microscope also has a glass to focus the light and improve the viewing of the samples. The transparent lacquer that protects the brass pieces is the original one. The slight signs of wear it shows only affect the finish: the brass is in great condition. The microscope draws our attention for its nice and simple design. All its pieces and component ... moreparts are original and work fluidly. Some parts show traces of use and of the instrument’s ancient age that only testify for its antiquity and its past life as an item for scientific training. These details do not affect the good operation of the microscope and it can be used like the first day. Under the sample plate we can see the oscillating mirror typical of vintage microscope. This one is original and is in good condition. The article also keeps the two brass screws of the rack and pinion adjustment that let the user focus the samples precisely. This microscope’s small size turns it into a very special piece. Full of ancient charm. Quite attractive and fully functional. This student microscope is a great find for the collection of a good lover of vintage instruments. Measurements: Width: 9.5 cm/3,7 in. Height: 24 cm/9.8 in. RARE 1800s Vintage Brass Student Microscope with Rack & Pinion Focus
Featuring Rack& Pinion focus and a compound lens. This rare, Nineteenth Century Brass Student Microscope is in fair original condition with a few correctable problems. The rack and pinion turns and adjusts freely, while the brass arm that holds the lens appears to have a slight bend. One of the two specimen slide clips is missing; and the small, secondary eyepiece lens appears to be cracked with a small missing sliver. The primary lens appears to be fine, and the general appearance of the unpolished brass appears to be good. Each individual part is die-stamped with a small part number. The non-original base is simply a piece of wood that someone stained(the actual base would be a small, dovetailed box with a storage drawer) I believe this microscope was the first item I purchased when I started ebay back in 1998. Item sold‘as is’ for ... moredisplay or repair. Good Luck in your bidding! Winning bidder to pay appropriate First Class postage within the Continental US(please contact me prior to auction’s end for international postage rates) As always, this item will be carefully bubble-wrapped and boxed.
