C1850 Here for sale is a very nice antique simple field microscope most likely used as a specimen magnifier by a naturalist out in the field. This one dates probably from the mid to late 19th century and has the normal for this period gilt lacquer finish. The magnifier provides a good degree of magnification as it has 3 flea lenses which can be used separately or screwed together for greater magnification. t he focal length can be adjusted by the rack and pinion adjuster(a bit lumpy)on the main turret. It also comes with a plan concave mirror(some deterioration to silvering) Separate magnifier on stalk, 2 part live box for trapping specimens inside and a small pair of tweezers. Antique Brass Field Pocket Microscope Eyepiece Magnifying Glass Etc
Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.

Offering an antique field/pocket/traveling microscope. It is brass and is in the original wooden case. Includes(4) four slides. 1. Scale of Butterfly 2. Spores of Fern 3. Hairs of Bass wood 4. Butterfly antenna. All parts of the microscope appear to be there& work as they should. Lenses look good& unscratched. Measures 7 1/2 inches fully extended& 6 1/4 inches closed to fit in case. Case is wooden& nicely made with 2 hinges on lid& 2 swivel hooks that locks the lid closed. In very good used condition.

Pocket microscope) is an extremely small compound microscope, a solid and rugged instrument designed for field work. This new product line of field microscopes was launched in 1920. The concave mirror for transmitted light is sealed in a flat cylindrical metal base with a glass cover on top of it(the stage) The mirror base can be rotated to adjust the illumination and can be removed for investigations with incident light. Two extractable, straight tubes zoom the magnification of opaque or transparent objects within the range of 25x to 225x. Focusing is done with concentrical ... moretubes linked by a thread. The front lens of the single objective is removable for low magnifications, the eyepiece threaded into the tube. SMALL POCKET FIELD MICROSCOPE. GERMANY A small pocket microscope ideal for taking out in the field for study. This microscope can be assembled quickly. It comes is a wooden case. Measuring 3 1/2" x 4" x 1 1/2" The microscope comes in two( 2) parts which assembles in seconds. There is a rotating mirror as the light source, which has some silver blemish but does still work fine. The base is black and measures 2" H and 1 1/4" D. The upper part of the microscope is brass, measuring 2" H and 1 1/4" D, and has a"spring loaded" stage where the microscopic slide is placed for viewing. The spring loaded stage holds the slide in place- to place the slide into the stage for viewing, press the two( 2) short knobs down, place the slide into the stage and release the knobs, stage comes up and holds the slide ... morein place. The magnification of this pocket microscope is 50X. There is a set of paper instructions mounted inside the box, which folds out for reading. The instructions state that this microscope was made byTestrite, Instruments, Inc. in Germany.
