Nice uncleaned example. Glass is not broken and does move with the thumbscrew. Top of microscope expands up and down freely. Microscope has no maker identification on it, nor the box. I have seen other field microscopes similar that were made by"The Harvey Lewis Co. and other that were made in Germany. I am not sure if this one is either. There is a date inscribed on the inside of the box. 7/30/25. With the initials J.J.H. Also included is 1 prepared glass slide and 1 tweezer. The box has two clasps that hold it closed. There is a crack through the bottom side of the box. But it does affect the integrity. Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.

SMALL POCKET FIELD MICROSCOPE. GERMANY A small pocket microscope ideal for taking out in the field for study. This microscope can be assembled quickly. It comes is a wooden case. Measuring 3 1/2" x 4" x 1 1/2" The microscope comes in two( 2) parts which assembles in seconds. There is a rotating mirror as the light source, which has some silver blemish but does still work fine. The base is black and measures 2" H and 1 1/4" D. The upper part of the microscope is brass, measuring 2" H and 1 1/4" D, and has a"spring loaded" stage where the microscopic slide is placed for viewing. The spring loaded stage holds the slide in place- to place the slide into the stage for viewing, press the two( 2) short knobs down, place the slide into the stage and release the knobs, stage comes up and holds the slide ... morein place. The magnification of this pocket microscope is 50X. There is a set of paper instructions mounted inside the box, which folds out for reading. The instructions state that this microscope was made byTestrite, Instruments, Inc. in Germany.
