Made in Paris, France, c 19 th century. Glasses seem in good condition for their age. But: PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION TO COME UP WITH YOUR OPINION OF CONDITION. AND THEY MUST BE SOLD AS-IS Glasses were made by Iris in Paris. And each eyepiece is marked as such(see photo) Glasses have a brass and leather finish. Which are in pretty good condition, with some scuffs to leather, with one tear in the leather on right side, and you can see where it has come away from the tube(see photo 8) Lens adjustment knob turns. But little screw toward eyepiece(top screw between eyepieces with flat head that you can see in photo 4) sometimes turns with them, so turning the knob does push the ... moretubes forward, but they only stay level when they are furthest back- as they go forward they get loose and wobbly seems that perhaps a part is missing- we didn’t try to repair them as they are antique, but this adjustment SHOULD be able to be repaired, but we are not certain Glasses are in good vintage condition. With no chips or cracks in glass, but a small bit of dust, but view is clear(see photo 3, 4, and 5) Leather case is marked France on bottom. With decorative brass push button latch that works, so case is worn, but still functional Case is lined in felt and satin. Vintage / Antique World War 2 WWII Chevalier Paris Binoculars Made in France
Auction is for item pictured. 1) Pair of Vintage/ Antique World War 2 WWII Chevalier Paris Binoculars. These are vintage Chevalier binoculars. Made in France. I THINK these are from world war 2 but please LOOK carefully. I found these along with several other pieces of ww2 era U.S. military gear. Some light dents around the edges of the metal. Metal looks to be chrome plated brass as I can see brass in spots that are worn away more than others They are clear when you look through them. Sometimes when flipped round a paper gasket, inside, near the front, is loose and sometimes falls out of place but even when it is in the middle there is only a thin blurry line in the area it affects. Easily falls back into place too. I'm sure it would be a quick fix to glue that gasket down but I decided to leave that up to their future owner. The the lenses have some scratches as shown and some gunk buildup of some kind. They have some scratches on the body and wear consistent with age. To extend them you need twist a bit hard so they may need some oiling. Looking through them they seem to work well considering the age and everything. Quite a cool pair of binoculars. This is a nice pair of French Lemaire Fabt Paris millitary Binoculars. They date to around the turn of the last century, and are in great shape for their age. They do work however one of the objective lenses does have some oil on the inside of it, but it does not affect visability much. The leather wrap around both tubes is also starting to crack. They could probably be restored, but I have left them in their original condition. The Focus mechanisim does work. The case is missing the top, and the bottom pieces of leather, and the shoulder strap is gone as well. The latch strap is still intact and does work. These would make an excellent addition to the WWI or WWII collector, and mey be even older than that. Get them fast they will not last long at the starting price.
