Favorite Things is delighted to welcome you to our Ebay Auction. I always try and provide unique collectibles that expand your imagination. Enjoy our ... moreauction and come back soon. Offered is an Unmarked French Antique Lacquered Brass Field Drum Microscope from ca1850's. Additionally it is a Monocular Compound Achromatic Brass Microscope. The bottom of the body tube has two screw on and off lenses for adjustment of magnification. It features a bull's eye lens. The original Mahogony wood box, glass plates, and a period tweezer. It is 9" tall fully extended and has a 2 3/4" bottom diameter. I did clean up all the lens and provide a basic clean-up on the entire microscope with Windex only. Since it is unmarked. I was able to access a multitude of pictures and info concerning French Drum Microscopes, and I will share my research with you. I will provide four manufacturers' or instances of this type of microscope, to provide dating and provenance: 1. Charles Chevalier lived from 1804 to 1859. His 1848 microscope which can be found on Ebay. Is functionally similar to the instrument being offered, though not as sophisticated as far as features, and operational knob control. Since he worked through 1959, it was very possible that he added the features seen as he progressed from 1848 to 1959. 2. Construction No. 3 by Lerebours& Secretan. Ca1839-1855(designed and described by Lerebours alone in 1839 but not manufactured till 1855) Monocular Compound Achromatic Brass Microscope, height 10 1/5" Rack-and-pinion focusing, one bull's eye lens. It included a Mahogany wood box. This unit can be seen on the Internet and was valued at between $1,000- $2,000.00. 3. French Drum Microscope ca1865. Trade label of James Foster Jr. Mathematical& Philosophical Instrument Maker, Cinncinnati Ohio. This microscope can also be found on the Internet, and is is funtionally equivalent to the instrument being offered. The only difference is the bull's eye lens on a moveable arm is put in a different. 4. Als

Old Antique Brass and Glass Miniature Field Microscope with Wood Case
You are bidding on an old. Victorian like, antique brass and glass miniature field microscope with fitted box. Microscope seems to be in good working order. Retains its original finish. Nice uncleaned example. Glass is not broken and does move with the thumbscrew. Top of microscope expands up and down freely. Microscope has no maker identification on it, nor the box. I have seen other field microscopes similar that were made by"The Harvey Lewis Co. and other that were made in Germany. I am not sure if this one is either. There is a date inscribed on the inside of the box. 7/30/25. With the initials J.J.H. Also included is 1 prepared glass slide and 1 tweezer. The box has two clasps that hold it closed. There is a crack through the bottom side of the box. But it does affect the integrity. Microscope measures: expanded) 7 1/8" x 1 ... more7/8 at the base Wood box measures: 7" X 2 3/4" X 2 1/8" Take home this great piece of early history. Will pack carefully. Vnt Antique Bausch & Lomb Optical Co Brass Metal Slide Microscope Rochester N. Y
For your consideration from a smoke free estate. A truly wonderful piece of vintage optical equipment. I am going to do my best to describe this antique brass microscope. But as I am not an expert by any means in this area please forgive any incorrect terminolgy. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has ... morea round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

History of Microscopes {Antique How-to Books and Science Catalogs} on DVD
History and Library- A History of Microscopes on DVD About 1590. Two Dutch spectacle makers, Zaccharias Janssen and his son Hans, while experimenting with several lenses in a tube, discovered that nearby objects appeared greatly enlarged. That was the forerunner of the compound microscope and of the telescope. In 1609, Galileo, father of modern physics and astronomy, heard of these early experiments, worked out the principles of lenses, and made a much better instrument with a focusing device. The Bausch& Lomb Optical Company of Rochester. New York manufactured this microscope for the Philadelphia based scientific supply company of James W. Queen& Co. Due to the fact that Queen& Co. was the distributor of the instrument. The microscope is signed in block letters on the rear of the stage, JAS. W. QUEEN& CO. PHILADELPHIA” see close-up images) The fact that Bausch& Lomb was the manufacturer is indicated on the underside of the tripod foot with just the initials. B&L” along with a number“7” and also a larger number“20. It is unclear if either or both of these numbers are serial numbers or simply part numbers(see images) It is estimated that this instrument was most likely manufactured in circa 1886. Bausch& Lomb first introduced this model microscope in the year 1878. Just a few years after Ernst Gundlach joined the company as its chief optician and optical designer. This model microscope first appeared in Bausch& Lomb’s 1

****SALE****Bausch & lomb antique microscope, case and key- great Steampunk!
This is a wonderful Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. microscope. Patent date is Jan. 5. 1915. I don't see a model number on it, but has all the tiny writing and tiny numbers of the strength of lenses etc. It is in wonderful working order. Everything glides smoothly, unscrews smoothly to clean lenses etc. I even saw tiny little organisms on slides through it! The case is sturdy and has that beautiful age to the wood. The joints are tight and the top drawers that hold lenses slide out easily and nicely. If you have any questions- please don't hesitate to ask. This is a really great piece. Oh! and it has it's key! Just make sure you have it in the right way- teeth to the outside. Or it will drive you crazy! Posted with

Antique brass folding Bausch & Lomb portable microscope model BHP, full set
Offered for auction is a fine Bausch& Lomb portable microscope Model BHP S.N. 74484. Dating to 1908. This full research microscope is housed compactly in a 29 x 19 x 8 cm mahogany carrying case. It sets up by simply spreading the hinged base. Then swinging the stage 90 0 and locking it into place. The profile of this instrument features an integrated"jug handle" cut into the squared off limb. A design that became popular among some producers between ca. 1900 and 1920. This B&L"Portable Microscope Model BHP" has all the features and rigidity of their research stands. But in a convenient traveling form. Not many of these microscopes were produced, because their price was over two times the price of a regular B&L Model BH desk-top microscope. Reference: The Billings Collection catalogue: P. 127 No. AFIP 49447; ... morep. 118. Fig. 223. The original optics that come with this microscope are all signed by Carl Zeiss. The set even has the original Eder immesion oil in an original bottle fitting a special slot inside the case. The case is complete. The inner and outer condition is very good. The original brass lock is completely functional but the original key was missing when I bought the set. However, the microscope will be supplied with a modern fitted key that enables safe locking and unlocking of the case. This is an extremely well-preserved set of an early scientific instrument. Produced by one of the most respected American maker with optic made by the best German maker of the time. During the early 20th century, B&L and Carl Zeiss formed a partnership hence the combined features of this microscope. This is a rare item in excellent condition that will suit every serious collection. I list it with low starting bid and no reserve. Please note: This is a private listing. I will not sell it outside eBay. Please don't address me with such requests. Please note: The accompanying array of images of the microscope and its Mahogany case taken from various angles are a part of this statement
Nice Antique Vintage Early 1900's bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Microscope Wood Case
Please read ALL of the text and view the pictures carefully. We will gladly answer any questions as best we can. Please ask questions before you bid or buy. Please scroll to the bottom of the pictures and read the terms under our last picture. I am far from an expert on these but will do my best to describe it for you. Questions encouraged.I do not see any cracked lenses and the mirror is not cracked on either side. All lenses are clear but one has a hair or something inside of it which I think you can see in the pictures. All of the knobs work smoothly. The paint is worn where you would place the slide and it looks rusty but it may be the base coat of paint as the finish is nice and smooth. It comes with the extra lenses as shown. I have taken close ups of any numbers or markings I could find. The numbers on the top of the microscope which ... moreI assume are the serial numbers are 241681. The black paint is scuffed on the bottom of the back of the base and it could use some polishing/cleaning in my opinion. The wooden finger jointed case is in nice shape with just a scuff on the one side and the original nickel handle remains on the top. The door has a lock but I do not have the key. Have a look at the pictures and please feel free to ask questions. Thank you for viewing. We have many other listings so please click the link to view them. American Agriculturist (Orange Judd) Antique Microscope ca. 1878 Bausch & Lomb
135 year Old Bausch& Lomb Field Microscope While appearing to be a toy microscope. This microscope was manufactured by Bausch and Lomb, Rochester, NY, as a premium for Orange Judd Company’s American Agriculturist magazine, as a tool for farmers to examine seeds and insect pests. By the 1880s farmers were using microscopes to examine their pork for trichina cysts– the source of trichinosis. The microscope has three pivoting lenses and its original glass slide. The cardboard box is aged but in original condition without restoration or any paper loss- Please note the inscription on the inside lid that says it was received an January 28. 1878 Microscope: 2” high x 2” diameter at base. Box: 2 1/4” high x 2 1/4” wide x 2 1/4” deep As Found-Appears complete and in excellent shape for its age! Please see attached images“In 1877 American Agriculturist ... moremagazine announced that every subscriber could receive a microscope with their 1878 subscription for an additional 40 cents. Non-subscribers could purchase the microscope for $1.50. The publisher claimed that 125.000 of these hard rubber stand-3 lens microscopes were manufactured for the 1878 mailing. This model, especially with its original cardboard box, is highly sought by collectors. Unlike the great variety of“household” and small drum microscopes which were being imported from France in the 1870's, The American Agriculturist microscope was made in America and designed by Bausch& Lomb, which may explain its interest to U.S. collectors. NACHET ET FILS ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPE RARE ANTIQUE EXAMPLE BRASS
I state first- I am up and don't really live or sleep on the sale of this item but it is a sweet microscope so control the nerdgasim. As far as I can see its all there- see the pictures for yourself- no cleaning in decades. I didn't look through it but all looks well on the piece- the box fits the microscope perfect and the brass shines like the first day of summer. so this is what I know about the piece. It is a NACHET ET FILS OF Paris Antique circa 1870 brass compound Microscope that is roughly 150 years old- give or take a decade. This is kinda a big deal as you are invited to purchase a very fine antique brass compound monocular microscope by Nachet et Fils of Paris along with a very nicely appointed Mahogany case that houses the instrument and accompanying parts- as far as I can see all parts. It is a Nachet’s“Petit Modele Droit” ... moreSmall Vertical Model) compound monocular microscope by best estimate. This is signed on the top rear of the solid brass foot. NACHET ET FILS, 17 Rue St. Severin, Paris. see photo)The microscope seems in exceptional shape- see photos. The address allows us to date the instrument to circa 1870. NOTE: For more details on the history of the Nachet product just search- this is a deal- if you look up things like"brass microscope" or“Maison Nachet et Fils Fabrique” tell me I am wrong- walk in a store that deals in vintage microscopes and leave with something like this for less than 2 grand- seriously- I move product- they will have a romantic involvement with this nerd focuser. So how do I put it- this thing is complete- all parts are there(see pictures) and there are a small window of these things existing. $799 plus $25 shipping and its out the door- a hell of a deal- I wish more people would appreciate the importance of this pieces.

Antique Henry Crouch Microscope 4168 London James W Queen & Co Philadelphia
Antique Henry Crouch Microscope Model 4168 London James W Queen& Co Philadelphia Brass and Metal Here is an old microscope for your consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. This piece is probably from the 1860s to late 1880s. The microscope was made by Henry Crouch of London and then distributed in the US by James W. Queen& Co. of Philadelphia. PA. The screw to adjust the focus still works and moves freely. The brass and metal certainly show wear and corrosion. However. No major pitting, dings, or dents, so perfect for those of you out there that restore them to their former glory. The tabs to hold the glass slide are still on it. Mirror in the bottom piece is there, but has some damage to the bottom side, not cracked but what happens to mirrors when they lose their back plating over time. Appears you can see a ring of ... morethe bras piece the mirror sets in. Obviously the scope has become detached from the base. Appears that it was probably some sort of solder or glue connection. So no major issue to correct there. The glass is still in both ends of the scope and I see no blistering or cracking of the lenses. Certainly are scratched. The scope body extends freely as well and can be seen in both positions in the pics. The case is certainly not an original case for this piece. Just something someone put it in to protect it at some point. It is 12.5" long, by 7.25" tall, by 6.25" wide. Some information on James W. Cropuch from the Antique Artifacts site(different font) Queen. Born in 1813, began working for the McAllister Brothers, in Philadelphia, as a boy, around 1825. From 1836 to 1852 he was a partner in the McAllister business, leaving finally to start his own company to sell optical instruments. While Queen& Co. sold a great variety of microscopes by other makers, their catalogs and other literature emphatically suggested that they also made microscopes. I have a Queen's"Large Family Microscope" unsigned, but unmistakably illustrated in their catalog of the early

Antique specimen sample vials with rubber stoppers medicine chemistry laboratory
Hello. And thank you for checking out my auctions, and make sure to look at my other stuff, and check back now and then. I make an honest effort to provide some really fun and unique things and take great interest in providing a no nonsense approach with all areas of service. I do pack items very well, and ship out very quickly. As a collector and buyer myself, I know how disappointing it can be to receive an item that has been literally destroyed due to shoddy packaging. It seems like there is no shortage of these types on ebay. Although I have no control whatsoever how an item is handled on its way to the buyer, I do make sure it is well protected in the box, and should arrive safe and sound, regardless of a few bumps and scrapes along the way. I do take my feedback and ratings seriously, and all I ask is that the winner communicate any ... moreproblems or concerns with me in a reasonable manner. By the way, I do communicate well with buyers and sellers alike. Seems like there are not so many sellers willing to communicate promptly these days) I am quite easy to deal with. And I look forward to providing you with a great item and great service. I do have a career that sometimes takes me out of town unexpectedly for a few days at a time. If this were to happen I would notify the buyer if there were to be a delay. This only happened once before, and it wound up shipping out 3 days after payment instead of the usual next day, but the buyer still wound up getting the item within 5 days! On my auctions that have best offer options, I welcome any offers, and do not get"offended" by low ball offers. I completely understand the concept of trying to get the best deal possible, and I am willing to work with people. Also, it doesn't matter if the item sells for 1 penny or 1 thousand dollars, I will provide the same level of service for all items. Now for the item details. This auction is for TEN(10) of these antique vials. They are all new old stock. Glass with an original rubber cork and measure approximately 3.0 i
